Arby's NEW Angus Cheesesteak Review | $8.49 | 690 Calories | Deconstruct Reveal ️️ Joe Is Hungry

[00:00:44]We're headed to Arby's to try out their new permanent menu item, which thankfully replaces the burger menu.

[00:00:51]They call it the Angus Cheesesteak and I actually reviewed this about a year ago.

[00:00:57]It didn't get a very good score. I was going to skip over it until I took a little closer look and they have different bread, different onions, even different cheese and hopefully today it's going to do a little bit better when we head over to Arby's. Get ready for a sneak-a-doodle bite issue a score right here within the city limits of Fairmount, Georgia.

[00:01:50]Arby's newest version of the cheesesteak sandwich is made up of seasoned Angus beef, thinly shaved American Cooper cheese, thick cut caramelized onions on an Amoroso sesame seed roll. A single sandwich at 690 calories on your well-laid diet plans give you a 2,110 mg bolts of sodium. I have the full nutritional information on the screen and in the description below. And as a note, Arby's also offers a super-sized version giving you 1/2 lb of meat, which we're not doing today. If you still want my version of a mini sodium bomb, be prepared to shell out $8.49 and be aware that prices vary wildly from one location to the next. And in fact, within a 25-mi radius of this location, I've seen differences of $2 for the same sandwich. And of course, you can make my version a medium combo for $12.49 before taxes in Georgia. And many of you already know, Arby's has serving weights in their nutritional information. Each one of these are supposed to weigh in at 290 g or 10.23 oz. If you use a little bit of fuzzy cat math, you come up with a preliminary, and I do stress preliminary, a high middle-of-the-road 83 cents an ounce. Now it's time to see if they can get these out of the window in a timely manner and finally pass the Joe's Hungry temperature test when we roll the drive-thru at Arby's in Cartersville, Georgia.

[00:04:53]Cheese steak number two is 101.1° F.

[00:04:56]Cheese steak number three is 106.5° F.

[00:05:00]If you've been watching my channel any length of time, I think you know where I'm going with this today. I like my temperatures at 140° or above. Hotter is always better. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this thing is supposed to be a hot sandwich. Well, today it's kind of a lukewarm sandwich and a failed The Joe is hungry temperature test. Now, it's time to get down in the weeds, do a very in-depth examination, get the scales all warmed up, head back to the studios and do the Joe is hungry weight test. First, I want to send a shout out to the crew at the Arby's for getting these out in a timely manner, but you got to tell me what in the world is going on with these temperatures. I mean, you got to know this is not going to help your score.

[00:05:52]The next question I have, can you make them the same size? How's your portion control? Can you get within 10% of your own advertised serving weights? Well, we're about to find out when we take off for this foil wrapper. In other words, set the tare on the scales.

[00:06:19]Angus cheesesteak number one is 9.82 oz or 279 g.

[00:06:24]Angus cheesesteak number two is 10.24 oz or 291 g.

[00:06:29]Angus cheesesteak number three weighs in at 10.14 oz or 288 g. Well, the difference between the heaviest and the lightest in this case is less than 10% of the average weight of all three. So, today, Arby's, you pass the Joe is hungry consistency weight test. Well, Arby's, they do have serving weights in their nutrition information, and today they are slightly below those numbers, but within 10%. So, Arby's, you pass the Joe is hungry weight test. So, all I have left to do is add them all up, average them out, do the math, and they take 83 cents an ounce and run it up to 84 cents an ounce, which leads us on to the next test, the one and only the Joe is hungry big reveal.

[00:08:22]And this is what it's supposed to look like. This is what it looks like straight out of the drive-thru window.

[00:08:28]And this is what they'd have you believe it looks like. We've seen what it looks like and we saw how much it was. Not a terrible price, but really nothing to brag about as far as what it looks like compared to its ad photos.

[00:08:42]Well, it looks kind of like a pale 3/4 cup full sort of smashed version of what its ad photos look like. Definitely a little bit of puffery going on today, but Arby's is no stranger to that.

[00:08:58]Well, I guess that leads us to the next test.

[00:09:01]Everybody knows what it is. It's the Joe is hungry bite test. So, it is bite test engaged.

[00:09:40]>> The Amoroso roll was soft, fresh, chewy, and moderately crushable with a small amount of bleed-through. The caramelized onions, they were well-cooked and crunchy and did add a little bit to the flavor mix. The meat was well-cooked and savory, but in my opinion, had the consistency of coarse ground beef, not shaved steak. Not in my world, anyway.

[00:10:03]The Cooper cheese was tart, tasted good, and it tended to dominate all the other flavors. And I'm not really saying that was a bad thing. With that being said, let's see how Shadow Joe fared and do the Joe's hungry Sneaky Doodle bite.

[00:10:54]It is very creamy. It is very cheesy.

[00:10:56]The meat doesn't seem to be too tough, and it could have been a whole lot hotter than this.

[00:11:02]So, let's go ahead and let the groom of my bride give this thing a score. If you don't know the scale, the scale is 1 to 10. 9 being the best, anything above 9 is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and almost never cheap. 5 and down is that slippery slope to the pits and depths of fast food hell. So, let's go ahead and give this the number that it really deserves.

[00:11:31]I did like the Cooper cheese in that chewy bread, just saying. The price, not so much.

[00:11:38]And to me, this was just a mid okay sandwich running in the 5.9 range.

[00:11:44]However, there is the issue of the temperature. I mean, this is supposed to be a hot sandwich, not a lukewarm sandwich. I mean, you really missed that temperature by a lot and I cannot let that go. So, today I'm going to go 4.9. That is my number. This is my review and hopefully I will see you in the next video.
