[00:00:06]The third time we have done our in-office BTGE trivia tournament. And it's the third time with a new cast.

[00:00:13]We're going to look over who is going to be in the tournament this year. We're going to look over the odds. We're going to look over the schedule. Everything that you need to know leading up to the tournament, which will come out June 4th.

[00:00:30]Something like that. Let's jump into some of the people who are going to be in this tournament. Obviously, the three people on the couch going to be in the tournament.

[00:01:20]Second worst odds, we have a first time trivia tournament competitor, but second time BTGE appearance member, and that's DNR.

[00:02:15]>> And then next up, I'm going to group two together because they you you can't name one without the other, and that is Carson and Logan of Nerd Sesh. They're going to be back for the second time.

[00:02:24]They came in as major favorites the first time. Both failed to make the playoffs. They're trying to come back for redemption.

[00:02:34]>> like both top four in odds. Now, Logan is fourth worst. Carson is middle of the pack in sixth.

[00:02:39]>> It's just playing different ball. It's like when we saw the NFL guys go up against a flag football team, you know, like a month or two ago.

[00:02:46]>> You can put Tom Brady out there. It don't matter.

[00:02:56]>> It will be a little bit different this year with this with how the tournament works, so we will see if they are able to do better in fantasy drafts, gauntlet, something like that. They are very new to both of those games. Carson actually on the website does pretty well in fantasy drafts sometimes.

[00:03:13]>> My assumption is no one has integrity until proven otherwise.

[00:03:17]>> Fifth worst odds goes to Ron. Ron is coming in to his second tournament. He squeaked into the playoffs last year.

[00:03:25]>> He's a fan favorite odds. Yeah. If If I should have made a fan >> Yeah. If If I should have made a fan favorite odds, Casey plus 1 billion.

[00:03:32]>> [laughter] >> Yeah, if there was a fan favorite odds, Ron would be way up at the top. Everyone loves Ron, but tournament we're not very high on him.

[00:03:40]>> I mean, we've seen just in some drafts he rips like 04 LT, and that's just not going to cut it around here.

[00:03:46]>> Yeah, the the years that we're going to get him.

[00:03:47]>> not going to cut it.

[00:03:48]>> He did draw a pretty tough schedule, too, as we'll get into later. And the final person who is not expected to make the playoffs, is he's seventh >> cusp or on the bubble?

[00:03:57]>> Seventh best odds. Some are saying he's the most robbed BTG event participant ever after he was stripped of his MVP title for the 7 on 7 battle, making his first trivia tournament appearance, Bengal, this year.

[00:04:10]>> He does. That's right where he's at his best, so Bengal, he's kind of a wild card. We've never seen him actually on the couch in trivia.

[00:04:17]>> We got a we got a tiny glimpse in in Carolina.

[00:04:20]>> Yeah, a little bit of a glimpse. He does pretty well in the grids.

[00:04:23]>> Grid turf specialty.

[00:04:24]>> Trying to think where we played in Carolina with the >> fantasy drafts. He was we partnered up.

[00:04:28]He'd give me a player, I'd have to hit the year on it, so >> Both us Shawn Alexander was bald.

[00:04:37]>> All right, Carson was the sixth worst odds or sixth best odds. And then the fifth best odds are going to go to Big Cat, who's representing all the Steens out there. He's made a name made a name for himself off the couch in the community, you know, Jeopardy guy.

[00:04:51]Uh now he's trying to stamp his legacy on the couch.

[00:04:54]>> forgot about that background, too. Like I remember us fantasy us 501 >> a lot of jeps. He's been crushing 501. I will say he's representing all the Steens, so if he comes on here, shits the bed, I have no assumption other than they're all cheating when we play 501, too, you know? There's no other way around it.

[00:05:09]>> If he performs well, he's going to show the Steens can hang with the big dogs.

[00:05:13]>> Mhm. I think he'd be high up in fan favorite odds, too.

[00:05:17]>> We'll get into it, but he's definitely a clear >> I think there's like three guys that I would put pretty pretty top heavy for fan favorites.

[00:06:08]>> over half of the equity of our company to get him on the couch. [laughter] >> And then entering the top three, the the highest non-BDGE member odds is going to go to Dalton. He's very experienced, he's fresh, and we know damn sure he's got the ball knowledge.

[00:06:35]>> Yeah. I think Dalton is very well-rounded and definitely has a good chance in this tournament.

[00:06:40]>> He has told me though at JohnBoy now, like he's so into baseball, like >> He's lost his edge a little bit.

[00:06:46]>> It's just yeah, he's not as sharp at this time of the year.

[00:06:49]>> And then second in odds we have Nick, who has never won, but always makes a deep run.

[00:06:54]>> He's never won anything.

[00:06:55]>> Never won anything.

[00:06:57]And number one, the two-time champ, Jamo at minus 5,000.

[00:07:02]Some are doubting him.

[00:07:04]Most aren't. [laughter] >> So, looking at this entire list, how are we feeling? Where where is the the play to make here, and where are we where are we not liking the odds as well?

[00:07:14]>> I mean for playoffs, it's pretty [clears throat] like cut and dry, there's not too much movement here.

[00:07:18]>> Um >> I I don't like Carson being a favorite to making the playoffs. I thought he uh I thought he lost that privilege of of being a dude that we think will make the playoffs last year.

[00:07:29]Like I think >> right on the cusp last year, though. He was the He was the first man out.

[00:07:32]>> Yeah, and now we've added much stronger competitors.

[00:07:34]>> lost Will. Like I think it's a big big hit.

[00:07:37]>> Yeah, but I think adding DNR, Bengal, you also having a ton of experience as a veteran here matters as well.

[00:07:44]And uh um >> I like the big cat minus 135.

[00:07:48]That's where I'd sprinkle.

[00:07:50]Or not sprinkle, but wager.

[00:07:53]>> Yeah, there's not much value in the playoffs for what we're for doing here.

[00:07:56]We're going to have we're going to take more shots later down the board, but I low-key, I'm going to be honest, like taking a shot on Casey.

[00:08:06]>> Like he's playing DNR in Carson, like that's not the hardest thing. Carson and Logan in fantasy drafts, how well they actually do.

[00:08:18]>> But like he's been on the field. And like that's like the the lights have been bright for him multiple times.

[00:08:30]>> Sprinkling money on Casey is a [ __ ] abomination.

[00:08:36]>> Like we don't know what Big Cat's actually going to be. We don't know what Carson's going to be. Bangel's been playing the games every day, you know?

[00:08:43]>> I I think Carson at minus 115 actually does feel really good to me because if you look at the schedule, like DNR Casey in grid games, we don't know about DNR at all in grids, and Casey is like >> I think DNR depends what the topic's going to be. Like he'll be good at some and then like not good if like we depends what they are.

[00:09:02]>> Yeah, that's sweet.

[00:09:04]>> But Casey gets Carson twice. Carson starts folding.

[00:09:06]>> [laughter] >> He's always ripping off 1970s quarterbacks.

[00:09:09]>> But here's the thing, if Carson starts ripping off 1970s quarterbacks >> and >> A lot to be honest, a lot of things matter for Casey. Straight up how his morning's going.

[00:09:20]>> How many Slack messages did he already have? Like >> He is so >> Did he [ __ ] three times?

[00:09:25]>> Yeah, that's the biggest thing.

[00:09:27]>> We'll have the We have the schedule up on the screen. We're going to have three sections of the tournament. The first portion that you were going to see are the grid games. As you've you've in the past with the previous tournaments, we've always done grid games. Now it's just one section of the tournament. Next up is the fantasy drafts, which also you guys love, fan favorite game, favorite game of ours, and that will be its own section will 1/3 of the regular season.

[00:09:52]And then finally, we're going to have a bunch of mini games to finish it out. So all of the games, I believe we have already played. There's not going to be any new games added to mini games.

[00:10:01]>> Um I'm really looking at mini games as like a donation. Like I'm for some reason I'm like I have to make seal the playoffs in the first two rounds.

[00:10:08]>> Before the mini games happen.

[00:10:10]>> There's the most room for error with there because you have to rely on a teammate. All the mini games will be 2v2. Whoever's in last place after the grid games and the fantasy drafts will get to choose their teammate first. So expectations are probably like Casey maybe picking his teammate first and that's where he picks Jamo.

[00:10:26]>> picking anyone.

[00:10:27]>> So the way the grid games work is there's going to be three people on the couch.

[00:10:32]They each play three grids.

[00:10:34]If you win a grid, it's >> 10 points.

[00:10:37]>> Second place is five.

[00:10:38]>> 10 second points three.

[00:10:39]>> Second place is three, third place is one or zero. One, okay. So you get three, so it's going to be a total of whatever that is, 14, 28, 42 points per each grid slot. Same thing with fantasy drafts, three boards.

[00:10:51]>> Correct. 10 3 1.

[00:10:52]>> Same exact format scoring wise. And then for the mini games, it's different.

[00:10:56]There's going to be four mini games each 2v2 plays and you get five points if you win, zero points if you lose.

[00:11:02]>> Okay.

[00:11:02]>> The 2v2 will be selected based off the standings. So last place will get their first choice of a teammate, second last place will get second choice of a teammate, and so on. Eventually we'll have six pairs of two. And then the pairings, who will play who, is going to be determined by random draw. And you will play the pairing that you are randomly assigned to four times.

[00:11:22]There are nine total mini games. Some mini games are Pictionary, we got Taboo, we got Frankenstein, we got >> Oh gosh.

[00:11:31]>> Um guess the password.

[00:11:33]What's password? That's the one where it's like two v two 15 words or less kind of thing. That one.

[00:11:38]>> [snorts] >> Um what else is there?

[00:11:41]>> When I draft you, we'll be good.

[00:11:43]>> That's what I'm saying. Like >> Like if we get 15 words, it's actually >> It's standings and stuff like >> Newlyweds.

[00:11:49]>> These guys are like down, but they have good chemistry like >> Yeah. Like you might need chemistry more than >> And we get we get taboo and we get that way we've been wrapped.

[00:12:01]>> Yep. So there's nine total games and each game must be played at least once.

[00:12:07]>> They'll be spun on a wheel and whatever lands on is what you play.

[00:12:11]>> Oh, we don't play nine total games.

[00:12:13]>> Okay. But like it'll be randomized which ones of the nine that you could play.

[00:12:16]>> be a long ass video, no?

[00:12:18]>> Yeah, could.

[00:12:20]Like four mini games.

[00:12:21]>> Connect four is just one of the four?

[00:12:23]>> Yeah.

[00:12:23]>> Connect four might be a movie. It also could be over like >> Yeah, could be could be two mini game.

[00:12:29]>> Uh and then after that the top six will advance to the playoffs as it usually is and from there we will have the top two players with first place choosing first choosing who they want in their gauntlet. It'll be two semi-final gauntlet battles.

[00:12:44]The top two in each will then advance past that the last place of each gauntlet will be eliminated and the final four will then play a 501 battle three rounds and whoever is in last place after that will then be eliminated.

[00:13:01]>> Then we go to one more gauntlet battle.

[00:13:05]Final three in the finals for the gauntlet and then the top two of those three advance to a dudes naming dudes battle for the crown.

[00:13:14]>> [snorts] >> Dudes naming dudes should have been earlier. That would have been a movie if we got it.

[00:13:17]>> I hate that as a final.

[00:13:18]>> Dudes get scary.

[00:13:20]>> I'm like yeah, it's like my one of my worst games.

[00:13:23]>> We move from scramby to dudes. So that's the entire format.

[00:13:27]We don't know the schedule for mini games yet, obviously, so we only have the schedules up for grids and fantasy drafts.

[00:13:32]>> For fantasy drafts, the way it was it's almost by tiers. So, we kind of figured like we have so many reps of fantasy drafts that we didn't want to put people that, you know, didn't play or aren't well equipped enough in the same tier with us. So, me and J'm going to play against each other. We tried to like even out the difficulty of what we thought people's knowledge were in the tiers of it. That's not the same with grid games, that was completely random.

[00:13:58]>> Um fantasy drafts was the, you know, the one that we felt like we needed to even out a little bit and then obviously adding in the gauntlet allows I think more uh flexibility for for people to to win this thing in in terms of, you know, maybe not being able to [ __ ] hit 1975 Chuck Foreman type of [ __ ] >> Nobody knows him.

[00:14:18]Um yeah, no. I mean, it's like looking at the schedule, I mean >> Yep.

[00:14:27]>> That means I get to pick J'm once, Dalton once. That's like the the entire top three at odds.

[00:14:35]>> No, you're Anthony Edwards in the Western Conference playoffs right now.

[00:14:40]>> Like like the team around is like we're good, we're solid, like we can make a run, but we just have to have a few things break right for us.

[00:14:47]Um it's just tough, man. Like yeah, not looking hot, but like then I get to pick you, the 2v2s we cook. And it's like, you know, we're fine.

[00:15:15]>> Any insight on the games? Like have you taken approach where you're like focusing more on like older grids or like is there >> How do you approach it? How did you How did you think of new games that we haven't done?

[00:15:28]>> For the most part I have I I try to pick games where you have to think about multiple levels of things. It's not like uh just like a simple question of like can you name the receiving leaders of 2025? Well, some of them are, but you have you kind of have to mix it mix it up, but I love the games where you have to first think about something, know that, and then after you know that you then can get to the answer because of that.

[00:15:53]>> I'm a big fan of having Gut on the couch with me for something like that. It's like I might get four.

[00:15:58]>> [laughter] >> And I'll be like Antonio Brown, Jamarr Chase.

[00:16:03]I hope I hope for the game's sake, for some of the fantasy drafts, for the like tiers we're talking about, you made them a little bit easier. I would hope.

[00:16:16]>> going to factor in like like I'm going to give you guys the harder ones.

[00:16:19]>> Yeah, obviously. It makes sense. Yeah.

[00:16:21]>> And then I'm going to like if if there's some easier prompts I'll give that to people who aren't on the couch as often.

[00:16:25]>> All right. Well, let's see what happens when we make the what when they make the playoffs. Let's go down the odds. I mean we got we got to make the finals. We have odds for them. So, I mean Jameson coming in minus 250, Nick at minus 195, Don plus 120, not bad value. Matt plus 125, run his ass. Big Cat not too far behind Carson. Then we take a little take a little dip. Bengals at 250, Logan, Ron, Gut is at plus 450, Dana plus 850, and Casey 15 odds.

[00:16:56]>> think he knew. So, like I think Big Cat's probably so familiar with our content that he's as familiar with any of us are with the gauntlet. As well as >> if we're talking about 501 being the thing that gets you into the finals, he's going to be really good at that as well. I bet he wipes his fantasy draft.

[00:17:31]>> I really like that Dalton odds to make the final cuz he's one of the four actually three people on Oh, Casey's played. He's one of the four people on Okay, now that was wrong, too. How many people played Gauntlet?

[00:17:45]I feel what? Have actually played the Gauntlet?

[00:17:47]>> I've never been on the board.

[00:17:48]>> Right, yeah, that's why I was like, you've never played the Gauntlet?

[00:17:51]>> Never once. I've hosted every single time.

[00:17:58]>> Yeah, so Dalton's one of five people who have ever played the Gauntlet and he's one of three people with multiple wins.

[00:18:07]>> I I think if you're going to bet [clears throat] on Dalton, you might as well bet him to make the finals rather than betting on him to make the playoffs.

[00:18:13]>> Yeah. Uh I like the Dalton though. Dalton, I feel like he's coming in and he's like, my friend, I'm so excited.

[00:18:18]>> Matchups though is uh tough.

[00:18:21]>> Yeah.

[00:18:22]>> Gauntlet is just so [ __ ] random though. Like, I don't know that it's good that we have like, we know how to play the game well, but going into any random Gauntlet, I never feel like I'm >> Every game is so different like, depending on how heavy the wheel >> play like six drafts in a row, you know?

[00:18:35]And then we also have to factor in there's going to be four judges this time in the Gauntlet, which is going to change things about how drafts are done, how blind rankings are done, the steam submissions could be different. They might need to win a game. We didn't even talk about the judges.
