Too Much Outfit Planning- PATTERN

[00:00:00]We are here once again to plan the outfits for the week. I can't believe it. It comes out so bloody quick. We are currently in the middle of a heatwave in the UK, which does make dressing maximalist too much like slightly harder, but we love a bloody challenge, don't we? We try and aid the maximalist joy this week with minimal layers. I have gone for as a theme too much pattern.

[00:00:23]Adding impact with pattern when you can't add lots of layers is key, really. So, I have chosen some pattern bits. I am going to pattern mix in every outfit just because I think it adds extra va-va-voom. You do not have to do that. Totally up to you how you do this. Any pattern goes. Animal print, abstract, florals, whatever you fancy, go for it. Just make sure it is too much. My three pieces I have already chosen that we're going to start with. I have got my gorgeous polka dot frilly fruity dress, a little acid floral stretchy strappy top, gorgeous Never Fully Dressed skirt that's what it's printed I got from the charity shop. In fact, this is all from charity shops, these pieces. So, these are what we are going to go with for our heatwave outfits.

[00:01:09]I like to have three elements to an outfit. This is why I like to layer. I think that's what makes an outfit feel complete. We have not got the weather for me to do three layers when it is this hot. So, we're going to be relying on accessories to really add some va-va-voom. So, I might do a little bit of pre-accessory choosing with you just to see how that might look. But, we're going to start with the dress. Now, usually I like to layer things under this or over if it's really cold.

[00:01:36]Obviously, we will not be doing that.

[00:01:38]But, I do have a lot of wafty loose very light sort of kimono-y items. I think one of them might be a great choice just to add extra layer to this that I can waft about in. So, we're going to have a little look and dig some out.

[00:01:54]Into the wardrobe. Oh, here we go.

[00:01:57]I haven't worn this yet. I got it a few weeks ago from the charity shop. It's an ASOS one.

[00:02:02]But, I was thinking it's got the black in it.

[00:02:05]So, that might be a really good pairing with the dress. I love the paisley print on it. I love the bloody fringing on it. I just think it's epic. But, it is incredibly lightweight. So, that on top of that Yeah, I think that's really fun.

[00:02:20]Adds a little bit of extra interest with the additional color and obviously the print mixing. Polka dots are an excellent neutral print to mix with other prints. Great place to start. What I might do with this because I want it to have extra impact add a belt. So, I could belt it and leave the front loosey-goosey so it wafts about nicely.

[00:02:39]I'm thinking probably silver tones with this. So, I could do sort of a similar belt to I've got on stairs. I love the jingle jangle it makes. It's a little coin one I got from the charity shop. So, I could do something like that or I could do my big silver razzle dazzle one, which might be a good option. That is certainly bling a bloody tastic. That will definitely add much needed fun impact with this.

[00:03:02]So, that popping and sparkling in the sun against the quite muted colors of that.

[00:03:08]Fabulous. Obviously, we'll do big silver chunky jewelry. I might even do a little maybe a head scarf with this. But, yeah, big silver jewelry, fun pair of lightweight sandals or something. That's one outfit done. Next, I've got this gorgeous little It's sort of like a sheer but you can't really see anything through it. But, I love the neon tone of it and I love the little flowers on it. So, take a color from the pattern and choose another item that's got that color in it. I mean, the most prominent color is the acid one. I've got a summer dress in the acidy tone. I've got a slip skirt in the acidy tone. I think I've got a pink one that's got pattern on that might have a similar tone. Let me have a look. Yes, I do. I might have a lot of clothes, but I do generally speaking know what most of them are, um, which is handy when I'm trying to build an outfit. So, it's got the same acidy tone as that, which creates the connection between the pieces, which is what makes it feel cohesive. So, even though we've got two prints going on, they work together because they've got a color story, is what I call it, like a connection and link. So, those will go fabulously together.

[00:04:17]I love a slinky little skirt and a little top in summer.

[00:04:20]It's my version of, uh, jeans and a nice top, really.

[00:04:24]So, those two together really fab. I do have, I think, some neon accessories that I could add into this. Um, let me have a look. Bought a huge, I made this out of an offcut from sweatshirt.

[00:04:36]Um, a big scrunchie. So, that in my hair would be really great. Nice fun pop of neon. Hair accessories honestly transformative when it's too hot to layer. Um, >> [clears throat] >> hats, anything like that is a great option.

[00:04:50]That works really nicely together. With an acidy, I usually go for silver jewelry. So, again, I'll probably do big silver chunky necklaces and earrings, probably my hoops. Probably with this, I'd lean into the sort of cool girl energy. Um, so, [clears throat] that means I usually do sort of modern silver jewelry, hoops, things like that. Um, but I do think that's really fabulous and quite fun. Also, if we added a belt to this, um, I quite like it's got a slightly '90s vibe to me.

[00:05:19]So, I sort of like a low-slung chain belt, and I've got a flower one that I think would be perfect.

[00:05:25]This one, again, a little charity shop find. I love these sort of belts. I think they're really great for summer dressing. So, that slung around with it, I think would be perfect.

[00:05:38]Just adds a little extra detail. When it is super hot, I have to rely on my accessories to add the interest because I can't rely on my layers. So, that, very cute. I actually got a pair of flat platform silver Topshop sandals that would go perfectly with this.

[00:05:54]Right, last item.

[00:05:57]So much quicker when you've not got to come up with three layers, isn't it?

[00:06:02]Skirt. This is gorgeous. I love this. It has got so many colors in that you could pick out from. Um but honestly, could take it pretty much anywhere. I am going to pick out You know what? I haven't done any sequins. I do love sequins and sunshine, and it has got a slight ready tone to this. So, I think I'm just going to go with my little sequin top, vintage principles one that I got from a charity shop. I love it. I love the gold into the red. I love how shimmery it is. I just think it is beautiful.

[00:06:34]And I think those two together, although it's not patterned per se because it has got the different colors in it, does almost look like a pattern. But yeah, I think that with that is just Isn't that just summer? Isn't that just summery?

[00:06:47]See, I just love the twinkle of it. Um yes, and that and that, definitely. Oh, yes. Beautiful. It's sort of got the warm tones in it as well that go really nicely with the gold. So, with this would be definitely gold jewelry.

[00:07:02]Um probably a stack of necklaces. I've got my lovely ball choker that I love.

[00:07:07]Um Earrings, I might well do my red tassel ones actually as well. And I might with this, because it feels quite dressy, probably go with my little red bandana because that feels almost like it always gives it a little bit of a dress down vibe. In fact, if I go for that around the neck, I think I might lean into a slightly western vibe with this. So, then I would do my straw summer sort of cowboy style hat.

[00:07:36]And possibly one of my sort of western style belts then. It'd be really fun. I mean, could I get away with my cowboy boots? Depends where I'm going cuz it would be quite sweaty. They would be fun.

[00:07:48]Wouldn't they?

[00:07:49]Let's But let's get the belt out and have a look. It is this one.

[00:07:55]Which got like the cowhide on it.

[00:07:58]The pony skin.

[00:08:00]Lovely. I think that would be really cool. It's got silver metal on it, but that doesn't bother me mixing metals.

[00:08:12]Feel like that with that and a little cowboy hat could be really fun. I think if I did that I probably wouldn't do my red tassel earrings. I'd probably do some gold. Be cool with that. Yeah.

[00:08:23]I like the vibe of that.

[00:08:25]Plus I think there's something about slightly western cowgirly look that always feels a bit summery, you know?

[00:08:29]Probably cuz it feels a bit festivaly festival vibes.

[00:08:33]Like that one. I think that's probably going to be my favorite for this week.

[00:08:37]I can see the vision very clearly in my head for that. Um or just love it.

[00:08:42]Going back to this one though, I am thinking with the purples in it, could I do my little purple sequin scarf for a bit of extra something something. Purple and yellow is gorgeous together.

[00:08:56]Cuz there is even a bit of purple in the skirt as well.

[00:09:01]And there's purple in the top.

[00:09:04]So I think that in a very 90s little drape around the neck would look really cool again. It's like an extra element, isn't it? And with the shimmer of the sequins as well. Fab. But yeah, very excited. These definitely are very va-va-voom. I love that. So that is my three too much pattern outfits. Um excited to see how they turn out. Let's hope we don't melt in the meantime with the weather. Now it's your turn. Go and find some pattern bits. Play, experiment, mix it up.
