Weather Impact Alerts are issued when meteorologists identify conditions that could lead to severe weather events, including damaging winds, large hail, and flooding. These alerts help communities prepare for potential impacts, especially during high-risk periods like severe weather season. The alert system considers factors such as storm intensity, coverage area, and timing to communicate risks to the public.

Weather Impact Alert criteria for storm chances as we head into the overnight hours 🌧️🌧️🌧️Ajouté :
Good morning Central Texas, chief meteorologist Faith Colbridge here.
Today is a weather impact alert day.
Now, we are going to be watching for some scattered strong, potentially even severe thunderstorms, mostly as we head into the overnight hours. We could see a couple of isolated showers until then.
Uh so, more so the early half afternoon, maybe 3:00, 4:00, but coverage is going to be very isolated. The threat is going to increase into the overnight hours.
And as you can see, it's not just us here in Central Texas. Just about the entire state of Texas is going to be under some type of severe risk. Now, here for us locally in Central Texas, that is a slight risk. So, we're going to be watching for gusty winds, large hail, um possible flooding as well. Now, there's a very low tornadic risk. We can't completely rule it out since it is still severe weather season here in Texas, but uh that's not going to be our main concern. Main concern is going to be heavy rainfall, once again, some flooding and uh damaging winds, and possibly hail. You can see rain over these next 7 days looks quite impressive. We know we need the rain, uh but it may cause some impacts, especially as this is the last week for many of our kiddos, graduations, Memorial Day weekend. So, you want to make sure you're keeping up-to-date with the forecast if you need to make some plan B or some alternatives to those plans over these next 7 days. We can see rain totals top out near about 3, 4, 5 in for many of us. So, once again, that should definitely help with our drought conditions. So, you can see 7-day forecast, weather impact alert day today. It's likely we may issue some other days on the board, but we're going to focus on today for right now.
Temperature-wise, look at how warm things are going to be. 80s just about every single day with lots of moisture, rain chances continuing. Head on over to our website, kcentv.com, for more details on your full forecast.
