[00:00:00]Now all of a sudden, I'm questioning my own identity. Am I Mexican enough? But it got me thinking, I'm Chicano, [music] Mexican-American, born and raised in LA.

[00:00:08]Most people don't even know the difference between a Chicano [music] and a Chola. Chicanos were born out of the civil rights movement, Mexican-Americans fighting for identity and a place [music] in the country. And the word Chola goes back centuries, long before LA, long before gangs. Just know that all Cholas are Chicano, but not all Chicanos are Cholas.

[00:00:30]But what the world grabbed onto was the image, >> [music] >> and now even that's becoming a caricature. You ain't no Cholo, you're a coolo. For you, it's just a costume.
