This initiative transforms fragmented amateur observations into a structured, collective archive of the cosmos. It is a powerful example of how community-driven data can democratize scientific exploration.

Seti Astro Community's Sky Atlas: A new way to share your images as we cover the sky together!Añadido:
Introducing the SETTI Astro Community Sky Atlas.
Welcome to SETTI Astro.
>> [music] >> As always, make sure you have the latest version of SETTI Astro Week Pro. Head over settiastro.com under Astro program SETTI Astro Week Pro. The new version is 1.16.
You'd have Python 3 12 13 or 14. There's the download here for the normal OS installers. Those of you a little more tech savvy, there's pip install SETTI Astro Week Pro and the Mac users can do homebrew to get SETTI Astro Week Pro. Or you can just run it from the GitHub. And if you're looking for a little merch, head over to my SETTI Astro merch store here.
Where you can get a coffee mug or some stickers or a koozie and help support the channel. So, I'm really excited to introduce SETTI Astro Community's Sky Atlas. You can find it here on the toolbar over by what's in my image. You can also find it under what's in my and then the SETTI Astro Atlas. Okay, when you're done uh processing your image and you want to share it with the community, it needs to be plate solved. So, do that first.
And then there's options to put uh your filter.
I have a whole bunch of options in here.
LRGB, RGB, broadband and narrowband, whole bunch of different combinations.
If you want to put an object name, you can do that.
This is Bernard 33.
Horsehead Nebula.
You can put a description in here if you want.
So, in my case, uh this was actually H A S H O and I want to just say it was integration was 35 hours.
And then uh for this particular image, I actually have a link to AstroBin I want to put in there, too.
All this is optional. You can have just completely anonymous if you want with everything. And I And I say that in here, too, under what actually gets uploaded. It's going to be the down sampled thumbnail, the sky coordinates, and anything you put in these optional fields.
That's it. Um so, there's no transmission of anything else in your fits header or anything like that. You could have completely anonymous submissions if you want. Uh make sure you click you agree to share the image under these terms, and then just simply click share image.
It's going to prepare the thumbnail and then upload to the atlas.
On the back end, oh this was learning experience for me. I have a whole bunch of stuff that I had to set up to continuously monitor this stuff, cloud-based image storage, server stuff.
There There was a lot of the background on this one. Uh but anyways, after you share it, it's going to say share successfully.
Thanks for contributing. It may take it a minute or two to update on the atlas itself, and then there's view atlas button. So, if you want to just wait a minute or two and then click view atlas, you can.
You can just close it, that's fine, too.
If you open the City Astro Community Atlas again, there is a view atlas button uh if you want to just click that as well. So, I'm going to go ahead and uh click it.
It's going to open a new webpage. You'll see a little loading screen.
And it's going to take you to the uh City Astro Community Sky Atlas. Uh there's only three images submitted right now. All of my All of them are mine. Um and then it has the the sky atlas, and it's going to put our images on there for us. So, you can you can click one of these and it's going to jump right over to it and zoom in.
Uh but if you just want to scroll around and just look at everybody else's submissions, you can.
And let's go ahead and find our horse head we added here.
You can click the little square in it, and it's going to pull up a thumbnail over here for you, too. It also has all the information you put in, right? It had the uh object name I put into it. It had the little note I said integration 35 hours. It has the link to AstroBin, so if I click that, it's just going to take us right over to AstroBin where I had this. And then, if you really want to play with layers, all of them are going to be open in this overlays panel.
And, you know, you can change the the background survey if you want.
Uh thing things of that nature. So, it's it's really up to you how you want to customize this. This is powered by Aladdin Light.
So, it is a little bit more limited compared to like the full Aladdin Suite.
But, it it should serve a a pretty fun purpose here for us in the community.
You could even uh turn off this completely if you take the brightness of the survey all the way down.
And then, we can just see uh there's my three objects in the sky.
But, as a community, as we build up more and more and more images, I think it'll be fun to see how everybody's images start overlapping and building up an entire picture of the night sky together as we just continue uh building this community, working with Stellarium Suite Pro, and now giving you a chance to just share your results. Again, your image could be almost completely anonymous where it doesn't even have an object name, any description, no links, things of that nature. But, if you want to put in, you know, an object name, how long the integration was, or any other information, right? Equipment used, where in the world you are even, maybe just even a country to say, "Hey, you know, this is from Australia." or something would be cool, I think. Um or if you got that, that that'll be awesome as well. The other thing you could simply do, too, is when you have a thumbnail here, you could simply right click on the thumbnail and say open image in a new tab, and it's going to go ahead and just open the thumbnail image for you. So, you could have a a better view of it.
I chose 1024 as the longest image dimension just to kind of keep the file sizes manageable.
Again, this is just going to be a a fun thing for the community to build out a whole sky atlas of images from steady Astros community and I'll maintain it as long as I can.
There's a lot of stuff on the back end that makes this happen and I may have to refactor it once we start getting lots and lots and lots of images but for now have fun. Finish processing your image. Make sure it's plate solved.
Upload it to the steady Astro Atlas and then you can see everybody else's as well and we just build up a whole sky atlas of fun processed images from the community. It's just a little bit shorter of a video. I hope you all have fun with it. Please comment, like and subscribe.
