[00:04:30]>> And since then there's been much public discussion. Um indeed the leader of his majesty's opposition, the honorable Emilyn Pere um rose the issue in parliament and afterwards did put out um a video in relation to it and did again raise the issue during last night's N&P connect.

[00:04:55]The strange thing is that there seem to be so many people trying to defend this thing.

[00:05:02]>> And I would think that if you're hearing something like this, regardless of the source of the information, what anybody with common sense would do, so we won't accuse them of having that. What anybody who cares about people would do would be to investigate the matter. Yeah. would try to find out for themselves the matter.

[00:05:26]>> And there are many additional people that have contacted me and I've said, "Listen, I spoke to people at this facility of that facility and I'm hearing exactly the same thing that you're hearing. I'm hearing similar stories.

[00:05:45]I'm not prone to wild speculation and talk." Yeah. Even sometimes when I come and I say here things as um like if I'm not sure sometimes I'm very sure on what I'm saying I'm just saying it in that particular way for a particular reason.

[00:06:08]>> So I've also seen a press release by the Royal Grenada Police Force where they're asking people with information to come forward. Yeah.

[00:06:20]I have come forward. I've said what I've heard on this program, haven't I? Yeah.

[00:06:28]>> The leader of his majesty's opposition, the honorable Emil Pere, both in and out of the parliament of Grenada has said what she has heard.

[00:06:42]>> You have actually had an instance of one of the individuals who has been a victim of what took place, contacted the police regarding what happened to her and was told, "Hey, if you want to preserve your job, you better drop that issue. Not let's investigate. Let's find out. Give us the details, you know." No. in case you you could lose your job if you go ahead and speak about this. Yeah.

[00:07:12]>> Now, we also know because you see I like to have conversations with people that have sense. I like to have conversations with people that when I'm finished having a conversation with them, they may actually be able to change me from my perspective because they have put forward an enlightened a sensible perspective to a discussion. But people who are out there obviously never spent one iota of their time studying critical thinking or are just out there trying their very best to defend an administration because they believe that okay these people have done that these people were brought by these individuals and as such if these people have done that it's going to make these individuals who they support look bad and that's all they don't care about the young ladies themselves. There are some who have been speaking women's empowerment, women's empowerment, women's empowerment. And now the time has come for women's empowerment to empower these young ladies who work in the hospitality sector to empower them so that if anything like this happens to them, they will feel free to speak to whoever they feel to speak to about that issue without fear of retribution, without fear of somebody coming and say, "Oh, this is political." after they have gone through what they go through to be abused again by these people on social media by these people in the public by these people who are calling programs and trying to make it look as though they are lying as though they did not go through what they have went through.

[00:09:14]If an individual is arrested for let's say h let's say a guy is arrested for murder.

[00:09:23]There was a bar fight. Two men was fighting in the bar. Two of them drunk, one killed the other one. Right? So the one who has been arrested now for murder, it might be manslaughter, but he killed somebody. He is sitting in a prison cell. And the guy in the prison cell next to him tells him, "Hey, you know what? I have done unspeakable things to several children and I've killed x amount of children and so on.

[00:09:56]Will you not take the information from the other individual because they have been convicted of killing?

[00:10:03]Does the messenger is the messenger as important as the message? Because see, I I really don't have time for dunce people with dun arguments. And I don't want to really go down that road, but I don't have time with dunce people for dun arguments because the time you're going to take to argue with dun people with dun arguments, you could have been doing something to help somebody. And that is why I'm doing what I've been doing to try and help somebody, not to try and help myself.

[00:10:42]But there are individuals that one of you going to pay you're going to pay through your your watch pay through your nose because if you're making accusations about people you better come with verified facts the same way I come with verified facts here.

[00:10:56]So I've taken note of certain statements made regarding myself which I'll be passing on to my lawyer over the weekend to take legal action against a certain individual I've seen making some statements there. I ain't playing with all you these days.

[00:11:11]You say it, you better be able to prove it because all of this to distract from the main thing.

[00:11:20]Listen, this thing has absolutely nothing to do with Sheldon Scott. This thing has absolutely nothing to do with Emlin Pere. This thing has everything to do with the young ladies who now feel that, hey, anything happened to me now, I can't talk.

[00:11:38]And there are people in other countries listening this stupidness that some people speaking down here and thinking now that hey boy when you go down to them facilities in grenade do as you want because now the staff even if the staff talk and say something nothing will come out of it because look how people come out defending something that they don't know anything about. I spoke to the individual directly involved and the Royal Grenada Police Force can't say that. They know that under the police force act, they know that under the laws of Grenada, the mere speaking about something gives them the right to investigate it. Nobody has to come in and make no report to them. So to try to throw that out there, to twist the whole thing into, well, Shelon Scott didn't go in and say anything and these ladies and them didn't go in and say anything. One of them did come in.

[00:12:38]So the Royal Grenada Police Force could find themselves at the hotels. they can go and ask the questions or they can train their people that when people come in with allegations of sexual abuse that you don't tell the people something as stupid I don't care who the officer is could be one of my best friend something as stupid as oh you might lose your work and if that is so then we need to put legislation in place to protect people because people must be able to speak about once something is going wrong with them it must not be a situation, and you'll all excuse me because my nose is starting to get runny.

[00:13:18]It cannot be a situation that women have to be afraid to speak because they're afraid they're going to lose the dollar.

[00:13:24]Because you and I know in many of these hotels, in many of these people in the tourism sector is single mothers, young single mothers who are trying their very best to make ends meet.

[00:13:38]In most instances, there are people that have to pay rent and all these things and outside are having to pay rent. They have to pay for their light bill. They have to pay for the their water. They have to pay for the internet so the children would be able to do their studies and these kind of things and be entertained when the time come. And we ain't even talk about food. We ain't talk about clothes. We ain't talk about toiletries. We ain't talk about medication. We ain't talk about transportation. We ain't talk about the money to go to school. We ain't talk about all these things yet because they wouldn't qualify for seed. They're working and if they have to get on the seed, it going to take them 3 years under this administration. If they ever get on, it's going to take them nearly 3 years.

[00:14:19]So these individuals need the job that they have and you cannot be allowed to continue and if the legislation has to be put in place to protect them, let us put the legislation. NP will lead the way because we deserve to lead it. NP will lead the way in relation to that. I know my party and I could say that without even checking. NNP will lead the way in relation to it to make sure that the legislation is there to protect people when they come and they speak about something that has been done to them.

[00:14:49]Whether it's whistleblower legislation for people that come out and talk about the wrongdoings of this government because all the crooery that taking place within the government of this country you all went and you make all the people in the different ministries sign them NDAs non-disclosure agreements so that they can't come out and say the corruption that is taking place in some of the ministries but some of them still talking so we still know what's going on the corruption that you taking place in many of those ministries led by corrupt individuals.

[00:15:26]If you don't like what I say, you know there's legal recourse regarding what I'm saying, but I'll be very happy to step into the court with any of you. We close press already. I was going to wait for the funeral today and I change it. I say I might need that for court. Let me leave that day. So the police can't come and say they can't investigate anything unless a complaint is made. They have heard in the public sphere. It's been talked about on news on on on online everywhere.

[00:15:55]I'm pretty sure when the papers come out tomorrow, you'll either see somebody saying, "Oh, well, sources say that a happened or sources say this has happened, whatever." But you will hear the discussion is out there. And you need to know as well that some of these hotels also have non-disclosure agreements with their staff.

[00:16:16]That don't mean that I don't know that a particular facility had a meeting with their staff today regarding this particular issue telling them that if they go out and talk what and what go happen to them but I could go out and talk me and no non-disclosure agreement to tell you know I could go out and talk and where I will talk I'll put it in every one of those traveling magazines I'll go in the comment section I'll take night and make day if you all treat these people that day.

[00:16:56]But you cannot have a situation that people are afraid to speak when something like this happens to them during the period of the new national party. We did a lot of work to get people to the point of being able to come out and speak when these things happen. come out and let people know what has happened to them, when it has happened to them, where it has happened to them. We did a lot of work for that.

[00:17:20]And now after doing a lot of work for that, you have these individuals and and you know the the hell of the thing is this, you know, many of these people don't have relatives working in the hospitality sector. Many of them who you see talking there, so they ain't care.

[00:17:37]It's not their daughter that working there. is not their loving niece that working there. It's not their grandchild that working there. So, they're just running them out without knowing the reality of what these young ladies have to go through. But you know the good thing with these young ladies, they are voters.

[00:17:55]They are voters too. And they must see who is on their side and who is not. who will be there to protect you and to make sure that your voice is heard because we know some have non-disclosure agreements.

[00:18:14]I don't know if all the hotels have it, but I know a couple that do that their staff sign. So they can't say if you see something with a one of the guests and so you can't go out and say, "Well, the guest does do this and the guest does do that and so but that does not mean that agreement does not supersede the laws of Grenada.

[00:18:36]So if someone finds themsself in a position that they have been abused, no non-disclosure agreement could stand up in any court of Grenada as a reason to fire that person. Or you might fool fools with that. Or you might fool people who may not understand with that.

[00:18:57]You may fool people who just didn't spend enough time to think about it with that. You all ain't going to fool me with that.

[00:19:07]Yeah. And I'm speaking directly to the hotels here.

[00:19:12]Y'all could make them sign 20 non-disclosure agreements. If something is done to them, the laws of Grenada take precedence over any other document you could make them sign. You can't make a person sign a document to say that they're willing to be abused. You cannot sign a document that tell a person they're willing to be killed.

[00:19:32]None of that could stand up in any court or law. So that paper basically for this is worthless and the staff need to know that because if you go and you report what has happened to you and they fire you because you report what has happened to you, I'm saying to you sow the living daylights out of them. Do not take anything under $.3 million. Yeah, you're going for 300,000 and above because of what you had to face, because of the public ridicule, because of all the other things that are contained, and because they have denied you your constitutional rights, nothing under 300,000.

[00:20:31]And some people, oh, so why did they go and speak to to to Sheldon first? And why they speak to me? Because they know I care. You don't. That's why they didn't speak to all you.

[00:20:49]They know she's a caring person. She has proved it time and time and time again.

[00:20:56]She has proved that she is a caring person, that she is a person that's willing to listen.

[00:21:04]And that is why they would go and they would speak to her. That is why they would come and they would speak to me because they know I genuinely care.

The same young ladies that work in the hotel, some of them end up vote for NDC to be being char of the affairs of the country. And if you putting people say putting people force and something so something so happen right or you hear your duty is to investigate and to see if it's true or true. But a lot of times things happen share not to report. So if someone make allegation about that and hey that for the post you're right your duty is to investigate to see if it's true or not true but then when I see I see some people on Facebook making comment and why report I don't report that's true to me these people anything this government did they defending it they defending the government for the wrong things. How could you love a party and the party doing wrong things and you big people right defending the wrong things that government doing?

[00:23:25]I always say the biggest failure and the biggest one who go bring the downfall of NC is the people who defending sh the wrong thing this government do but to the people that they see put in force. So right now you're putting the foreigners in force in front of some of the people that vote you into office. But there comes a time people go to see who really cares about the whole of them. Sh.

[00:24:36]You know, I said clearly on this program that I didn't blame the prime minister at that time. I didn't blame the prime minister. And the reason I didn't blame the prime minister at that point in time is not he that do it. He brought the people probably with good intentions and the people did what they did. But I blame him because just a few hours later they were allowed to leave Grenada. Now I blame him.

[00:25:02]Now he has to take some blame because the issue was ventilated and the issue was aired. It was known that it was out there in the public. And the vast majority of those people, there are one or two that are still here, but the vast majority of those people, over 95% of them have already gone back.

[00:25:22]So, they've done what they did here and they're gone.

[00:25:26]They're way back, happy in their place doing what they're doing.

[00:25:31]Meanwhile, the young ladies here are left with the trauma of what happened and the possibility of it happening again. And if they speak about it, according to who they speak about it to, it will be judged as is true or not true based on who it is they speak to it about.

[00:25:49]There was an allegation of an individual out of New York. Yeah. Who at that time was associated with the New National Party. Now they associated as far as I know with the DPL.

[00:26:01]There was an allegation versus about that person and the same people right now that jumping all over social media talking about what report what report was saying to arrest that individual detain that individual where is the investigation regarding the individual.

[00:26:20]They said all sorts of things at that point in time about that individual.

[00:26:40]And I'm saying that this cannot be it.

[00:26:44]This cannot be it. This cannot be how this this goes from here on. And no, that incident didn't happen during the period of the New National Party. That happened during the period of the NDC.

[00:27:02]This it can't be that when you support a particular political party that you get a free pass in relation to certain things and when you support another party you don't get a free pass in regards to certain things. Grenadians should be mature. We should be mature enough to understand that calling for accountability is not an attack on the country. It's an act of love for the country. So when I heard Emiline speak yesterday, I felt the love she has for people. And she has always been that kind of person. No society that I know of, no society progresses when people are bullied into silence for asking these difficult questions. I don't know what's going on with my people, but Grenadians, we need to stop the cultlike behavior. You know, Sheldon, I apologize for my voice tonight. [00:30:49]Grenada remains one of the only countries probably on earth, not just the Caribbean, where if a tourist is walking and we find somebody harassing the tourists too much, we as Grenadians, let's get involved and say, "Leave the people alone.

[00:31:04]You ain't seen that in Trinidad. You ain't seen that in St. Lucia. You ain't seen that in Jamaica. You ain't seen it in Dominica or St. Kits or any of those other countries. Grenada here, we just got involve the people alone."

[00:31:17]You see the people and them enjoying theel. Leave the people.

[00:31:21]We as Grenadians get involved.

[00:31:25]And you don't even have to be a fairkinned tourist.

[00:31:30]Once we see wrong, we get involved. That is what one of the reasons I believe Grenada has one of the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean and probably the world. It is because we as a people get involved. We see something going wrong.

[00:31:45]We going we saying are standing up in court and are saying what I see they don't like it that the business that is Grenadians other countries who me I don't see nothing I don't hear nothing me I ain't going and say nothing day I never see nothing I never hear nothing Grenadians what I have to reach in the court for that is us and due to that the the police outside of the fact that I believe they're very efficient although they starting to give me concerns with this type of behavior now.

[00:32:22]Mr. Commissioner, I still have some belief in you. You know, I still have some belief in you. And whoever gave you that advice and think they if it's the advisor, Papa, you can't take advice from the worst commissioner or police ever. You can't do that.

[00:32:42]You cannot take advice from the worst police commissioner that the country has ever had. You can't do that. Yeah.

Because Grenada has a very Listen, I see some of our young police officers and and police women who when you speak to them, even before they become members of the Royal Grenada Police Force, you hear from them the dream of I just want to protect my people. I want to see a safer Grenada. I just What? Why did you become a police officer? I always see myself as one of the people that um want to deal with bullies. I don't like people that bully people and do wrong to people and I want to protect them.

[00:33:22]And you realize a lot of these young folks get into it. And some of the people who are not so young, that was the reason that they got into it because they want to protect our country. They want to see things go right in their country, not because they was looking for a walk.

[00:33:37]They get filtered out and those who looking for a walk does get filtered out of the Royal Grenada Police Force very easily. They might get in but it wouldn't last. They just get filter out very easily. But those that actually have an interest in seeing our country being safe, those are the ones that you see excel and you see them getting into the force and so on.

[00:33:59]So I know who we have as police officers.

[00:34:04]So it has to be that the guidance is wrong. We know that we have a person who is national security minister in name only for profile but we don't actually have a national security minister in Grenada.

[00:34:17]We have one in name but we don't have one in action.

[00:34:22]If it's to Marco and find out who Emlin Pier talk to on she phone who Tafawa Pier her husband speak to on his phone who WhatsApp them or who they WhatsApp and so on. If it's to maco that if it's to follow her vehicle from St. Andrew down to St. George and see every spot she stopped at. If is when she walking in Grenville to send an officer who should be looking for drug dealers that trying to sell marijuana and cocaine to children. Instead of putting the officer to go and find out who is selling that and who is bringing it in to send to our children, they take a police officer paid for by the state to go and follow members of the opposition to see who they're talking to, where they're going, and when they going instead of taking the technology that they have because two government ministers so far, you can just blabber talk and say certain things. One even said it on air and a lot of people didn't pick up what he said when I already complained. One even said certain things on air and OA didn't even realize what it is that he said. He was basically saying that they could listen in on people conversations and that they have information through those means.

[00:35:36]Use the special branch to go and find out who bringing guns into the country.

[00:35:41]Because every now and again all you're finding guns while you thinking of a gun factory in Grenada making them gun is obvious somebody or some entities are bringing those into the country.

[00:35:52]But it seems to be more important to them to sit down and have people trying to hack into people computers to have people that's whole job for the day is to try to enter the phone opposition members to try and see what information they can gain off of it.

[00:36:13]Meanwhile, you have people selling drugs to our children out there, selling marijuana to school boys, and then trying to hook them on cocaine.

[00:36:24]And while the police officers should be used to try and trace down those kind of people, they're using them for political ends.

[00:36:32]That is where you have to send special branch and do not Marco Emlin, not try to find out where Dr. Keith Mitchell going in when the vehicle leave, not trying to find out. Well, let me see how much houses may Charles visit today or how much people was down by Adrian on a Friday.

[00:36:55]That is not what all you're supposed to be having them doing. They should be doing things that are beneficial to the state, not beneficial to your political party.

So I said you got to tell your mom that. And she she said okay. She call her mom. Told her mom. Mom took her by the doctor get get her checked out and ask her who she tell that. She tell her mom nobody. And the mom cover up that. And she cover up that and she she living with that guilt right now on her chest that she been raped and violently raping. Not just raping her.

[00:41:10]choke, slap, hold on, panty reaper and the guy reaper. Now I'm saying people say, "But why the young lady go to the station?"

[00:41:20]There is something that when when a woman get violated, she mind shut down, she body shut down and she go what you call a depressive state and then now she afraid that her name go on your name go there you are seen as that person that is molested, rape, whatever. So your name is spoiled for a long time, right?

[00:41:39]People see you as this rape person. So men don't want to deal with you anymore.

[00:41:43]People don't want to deal with you much because a statement you looked at somebody that been abused.

[00:41:48]>> So when people say, "Why should they go to station?" It's not just like that in people. People just run go to station.

[00:41:55]People don't do that. This is a serious serious matter. And I can't believe men who have young girls as their children or sisters or even the the mom could support women entertain doubting a woman when she get raped. is a real sad thing and you know for a woman again to even side with these people and them because you have to stick with your with the ladies. You don't understand this thing is very serious and I only watch I get think about that this young women have to go in that hotel and work then the the the bus will drive them in gr some way they have to flag a rider to find their way at home and have to go back to work the next day with all people understand how difficult it is to have a walk in a hotel and have to go home at night and go back again and go night this is very serious these people are in real trouble have a nice back And you see I'll tell you this what the caller just mentioned. There's another problem that these hotel workers have been going through. It is something that I know um we were trying to address. That is the problem of they already have a situation where some of them especially those living up the west coast and so on.

[00:43:21]And according to who picked them up, all kind of things could happen to them. And there have been incidents with young ladies who trying to reach up to St. John or St. Mark St. Patrick on the west coast after they finish work in a hotel.

[00:43:35]Which is why some of them end up trying to force to rent a place in the south of the island or in town so that they don't have to go through that that the bus would drop them at a particular point.

[00:43:48]You have the same situation with some of them going over the hills sometime the bus dropping them at a particular point and then they have to make it on their own from there and so but they want the job they have the children to sort out so they try their very best and you passing Constantine you see them flagging ride trying to go home that sort of thing same on the east coast as well some of them they drop them by the St David police station and they say you had to make it from there so if they're going up to Grenville if they're going up to to to to areas like for instance uh Corinth or so on. They have to try and fight it on their own.

[00:44:28]Yeah, that is the situation lots of them are going through. So they already have that to deal with. And now when they go and they make these kind of statements that they making about the young ladies now all of them going afraid to talk. But not only all of them going afraid to talk, it is opening them to further abuse.

[00:44:51]And then it's also opening them to economic abuse because the hotel realized that they hanging money over their head and we could pull it at any time. So if they talk, we're going to take that away from them. I wish I had some multi-millionaires behind me that when things like that happen, I could have said, "No, don't worry. We go help you until you find a new job. we go help you.

[00:45:16]So if it takes legislation to have to protect people in those situations that no facility can fire somebody because they were sexually molested at that facility while trying to do their job and earn a dollar to take care of their children and themselves and probably the sick grandmother at home while they're doing that. This thing happened to them.

[00:45:37]they speak about it or they make a report and all of a sudden they lose their job. No. Well, if we have to legislate to protect them, we have to legislate to protect them. Whatever we have to do to protect them, we have to do it to protect them. But we cannot allow situations like this to continue.

[00:45:55]And you know you're seeing some people commenting then you have to realize if that is the mentality of these people me I want no female member of my family around them in fact I don't want the male members of my family around them they might rape them too I don't want no female I looking at some men put the ladies aside right now I looking at some men commenting under this thing and making stupid statements like well what are they doing in the room hello they work at the facility their job is to go and clean the room and these kind of things that is their job so you want to say well what are they doing in the room that is what they was doing there but as a man now if you're saying that you tell me immediately that your thought pattern is once a woman comes by you you have the right to do to her anything that you feel you could do because she by So the room was theirs and she was in the room so they could do whatever they want because she was in the room. No, that tells me a lot about the mentality.

[00:47:05]Go under these posts and you personally and especially if you're a woman, take note of the men that making these kind of statements under the post. Take note of the men that victim blaming because that is the pattern they're going to use when your daughter end up in their crosshairs or you end up in their crosshairs.

So when you look under some of these posts where they are attacking and you see some of the statements by some of the men, you recognize that these men are potential rapists or rapists because just the mentality for for them to sit down. So here here's the process here. They read something or listened to something or viewed something.

President administration doesn't because they would pretty well do it and then bring cameras there to say, "Oh, we had counseling sessions with x amount of people and expose all the people And then people do it quietly and just say, "Yes, we've done that. End the story."

It means that you're signing an agreement that you can't speak about what you see. The moment they started doing that in the ministries and in the statutory bodies, it told you all you needed to know about them. That they intended to do a lot of stuff inside there that they didn't want to come out. But he's still coming out or you can't hide it.

In his mind after 3 years Grenadians forget that and we could just fix our road in front of the house even though when rain fall the potholes going be back but we could just throw some asphalt on that and bam them people and them supporting us.

[00:55:48]That is how he thinks. That is their mentality. He believes that everything in Grenada, if he waits long enough, people go forget about it.
