5 blood tests to do before it's too late!
Added:There's a particular adage that they used to use and train us and they call it a stitch in time saves nine. Right now the reason we start with this adage is because you see many sicknesses do not come as bam surprise I'm here. No, they would have been giving you small small signs, small small signs, small small signs. And at the end of the day, hey, cut to glorio that's it. Something happened though. No headache, no pain and just went. Now I will give you five simple tests. They are not expensive.
They are cheap. Five that you can do right now that can save you problem later. All right? And these five simple tests are just tests that can help you find serious problems. For example, things like diabetes. A lot of people have it. Many people who are walking around now are walking around with diabetes that is silently damaging their kidneys, their eyes, their nerves, their heart, their brain. But they think they healthy simply because they are not seeing the symptoms [music] yet. Another reason is that most of these symptoms don't happen immediately. [music] So we are always postponing to protect our life until it come crashes us. Then you not start running around looking for what to do. But that's not your portion, right? The first test on the list is a full block count. [music] FBC is cheap. This one allrounder test.
It will count your red cells. It will count your white cells. It will count your platelets. Because you need to understand that your blood is not just red water. It's full of blood cells.
Different types. Type that takes oxygen from your lungs to your blood and then take carbon dioxide back to your lungs so that it can breathe out. White blood cells. Those ones are your army, the [clears throat] fighters. They prevent you from, you know, they protect you from infections and disease. Platelets, you see that scar that you have when you wound. [music] Platelet is also part of what covers the wound when you are bleeding. Now, this full blood count measures all of them.
When your red blood cells are too low, it means something anemia. Maybe that's why you're feeling tired, you're feeling dizzy, you cannot concentrate. These are common signs. [music] When your white blood cells are too high, it's probably because your body is fighting an infection somewhere. Sometimes you don't even know about the fascia is fighting yet. Sometimes it can even be some people that have cancer of the blood which is called leukemia when your platelets are behaving anyhow. It could be probably that's why you're seeing bruises on your body or that's why a person just bleeding anyhow. Very affordable a full blood count. Number two test is a passing blood sugar. This one checks how much sugar is floating inside your blood. Now there's another one besides it. [music] you know, it's a little more pricier than this one and they call it HBA1C, right? Is measuring the average sugar over the past 3 months. So, think of it as your body has just been taking CCTV of your sugar. It cannot lie. It's just telling you. So, once you now click it to now play the tape for the past 3 months, [music] that's HBA1C. With this test, you can find out if you have diabetes because sometimes you can even do random blood sugar and your blood sugar is low. But if you do the HBA1C, it will give you the measurement for the past 3 months. [music] That's how to know. Especially blood sugar. If you don't manage it properly, it will start damaging tiny tiny blood vessels inside your kidneys, your eyes, your legs, your heart. That's just say I don't know.
They need to cut off my leg. Go to cut off my leg. Diabetes, right? So next time you notice that something is wrong, maybe you started noticing that [music] your your eye don't they blur and it's very important you do this test especially if you're over 35 years.
Sometimes if you're noticing that you're gaining some kind of weight or diabetes runs in your family or you're pregnant or you're planning to be pregnant or you've been pregnant before, please go and do this test. Number three test is lipid profile. [music] See this particular test checks the fat in your blood. bad cholesterol, low good cholesterol and the bad cholesterol is the one we call LDL. When LDL is high, [music] you see it start coming to the inside of your blood vessel like something that is blocking pipe. And as you grow older, some of these pipes can get slimmer and stronger, meaning that you're having less blood flowing through it. One day clots will just form inside or [music] pipe will just close and that's how heart attack usually happens or if it travel to the brain stroke. The good cholesterol is the HDL. The HDL is like the llama is going to go and clean everything. It will carry the LDL which is the bad cholesterol from the blood vessel bring it back to the liver so that the liver cannot clean it up. Which means that if you have high LDL [music] is a good sign. If you have low LDL is not a good sign. The lipid profile is also checking for other things. Things like triglyceride, another type of fat that is inside your blood that when you eat too much sugar or you're eating white bread, you're eating cake, you're drinking boba tea, you're drinking every time you're just drinking it, it's going to increase your triglycerides. Now, if you now have triglycerides and high LDL with low HDL, dangerous combination. Now all these things you can only know if you do a simple test in the hospital called a lipid profile. Simple shrinking money shrinking money. Number four test is kidney function test. Now your kidney don't like to complain. They just manage themsel be cleaning all the toxins from your body out excreting things. Clean out waste regulate your blood pressure.
make new blood. That's what they see.
They just walk. That's what they walk.
But when something starts to affect the kidney, you might not know. No symptoms, nothing. Sometimes they already 80 to 90% gone before you even start to notice anything. [music] And in this our country, Nigeria, they've noticed that some people have found chronic kidney disease in up to one in every eight adults. And by the time people find out, the only option is diialysis [clears throat] or kidney transplants. Angia diialysis is too costly. Some people have had diialysis and they've not recovered from it financially. And this test is very important for everybody. But especially if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, you take a lot of pain medication in profane. You see all the type of pain medication, especially if you just take it anyhow is one of the simple things that can quietly destroy your kidney in Nigeria. [music] Yet people are taking it like sweets.
Remember something is paying the price, your kidney. Right. Number five is liver function tests [music] and hepatitis B screen. The one thing that works the hardest inside your body.
One of the hardest working organs is your liver. It will clean the toxins. It will [music] process your food.
Everything you swallow or drink will have to go through your liver so that [music] it can store energy, make energy. Without your liver, it cannot survive. Protein that stop bleeding, liver [music] can make it. Albamine, the main protein that helps you transport nutrient from one part of the body to the other. Liver is making bile that breaks down fat. Liver immune proteins, things that help fight infection, liver cholesterol, lipoproteins, liver, 24 hours, no break. It's just there. Now, you have to also check how that organ is working, right? A liver function test simply one simple blood test. Shame killing money also. You will check if this factory is working well and if the machine inside is still working well or if they started spoiling. But let me tell you one thing about the liver. The liver lies off of a head. See the liver can be flogging it to keep walking. You have wound it will keep working. It will not shout. It will not do anything. So you can be walking around laughing, eating, doing gym quietly. Meanwhile, your liver is damaged. Only way to know is to go and check. And the one thing that is also quietly destroying people's liver in Nigeria is something they callitis B. A virus [music] that quietly directly attacks the liver. As a matter of fact, they found out that 14.4 4 million Nigerians are living with chronic hepatitis B as of 2022. That number would have increased by now.
Nigeria is one of the countries with the highest hepatitis B in the world.
According to WH, global burden of disease, you know, they've done all their research and then they found [music] out how does hepatitis B spread?
Body fluid, sharing clipper, blood, unprotected sex, blood transfusion, all those simple thing, mother to baby.
That's one of the ways. But calm down.
That's where good news enter because patitis B already has a vaccine. That vaccine can protect you for life. And for those already carrying it, early treatment can hold the virus down and protect your liver for years now. This is the whole reason I made this video.
[music] You cannot do anything until you find out the problem. You cannot fight enemy you have not seen. It's not by saying god forbid is not my portion. Go and check. Go and check. And there's even more good news. Abroad Doctor Foundation is working to reduce the number of people directly affected by hepatitis B in Nigeria. As part of this mission, we will be doing free hepatitis B screening and vaccination to help reach more people so that we will reduce the number from that 14.4 million. But you see, we need your support. If you can donate, if you can support us, you said please I want to support the work.
Bam. Look for our procco doctor foundation page. It's there. update, check all the details on how to support us or I'll put it in the description of this video or in the first comments.
Your health is your responsibility. I know you don't have to handle it alone cuz parents will still come to say e but doctor I feel fine. That's the whole point of this video. The dangerous ones don't announce themselves. Feeling fine is not [music] the same thing as being fine. Now some of you are say how often should we do these checks? For most people once a year is good habit.
[music] As a matter of fact, I even say do it on your birthday. But if you talk to your doctor, they'll tell you how often you need to do it. [music] And it's not expensive. All of these tests combined, nice. It's cheaper than diialysis, cheaper than stroke. It's cheaper than cancer. This is one of the cheapest insurance you need to do your life. If you're looking for where to do the test, go and download our doc.
Simple. Or you click the link again inside here. Talk to our doc. I want to run this test.
pack while you list it out. We'll show you the nearest laboratory near you that has this test that you can do it. Send this [music] video out so that you also help somebody's life and save them from future future wala.
Thank you.
