[00:03:08]Remy's not very well.

[00:03:11]So, we don't know what the problem is.

[00:03:13]But, things have changed for you, haven't they, my love? And now, he has an uncomfortable bottom.

[00:03:20]And we don't know what the cause is. So, he keeps licking himself.

[00:03:24]And when we pick him up, he cries.

[00:03:28]You know, sort of as you scoop them up.

[00:03:30]One hand under their bum, and suddenly, he's very uncomfortable. So, my biggest concern is always bladder crystals, cuz I had a cat before that had bladder crystals, and we caught them in time.

[00:03:43]But, if they are left it can be very dangerous. So, I'm keeping an eye on him, but his I don't feel like his tummy feels soft, so I don't think his bladder's blocked, but I think he's got a little problem with his little tushy.

[00:03:59]What though? I don't know. What's the matter, my little baby?

[00:04:03]Don't you wish you could talk to your animals? Ask them to describe what's going on, hm?

[00:04:11]Tomorrow morning, Leon's taking him to the vets. I had to ring around because today is jour ferie because it's Bastille Day, so the vets are closed.

[00:04:24]And we go away on Thursday for the weekend, so we're running out of time.

[00:04:30]Just feels like every time we look at him, you see he's going to do it again now.

[00:04:35]Poor darling.

[00:04:38]Otherwise, he seems okay.

[00:04:41]You're just a bit sore, aren't you?

[00:05:22]>> [laughter] >> So, it is July 14th, and France are playing Spain. So, it's the World Cup semi-final, and we're going to watch it find out who's going to be playing against either England or Argentina, I guess. So, it's going to be Argentina versus Spain.

[00:05:46]I can't have this on my vlog cuz there's a visa requirement we've got to say France is going to win.

[00:07:46]So, I'm friends lost the match, very sad.

[00:07:50]And Remi is about to go to the vet, which is also very sad.

[00:07:56]Yesterday, Remi >> bags is it? Is it straight to the vet?

[00:07:59]>> Not like that with Cleo. Yesterday, Remi was in a lot of discomfort. I showed you guys that. But then I noticed something protruding out of the end of his So, it was >> Protruding?

[00:08:14]>> Yeah, it was a grass seed. So, I've no idea how it ended up there.

[00:08:19]Whether he's passed it or it's gone the other way. But either way, it's must have given him quite a bad UTI because he now can't pee um without intense effort on his part and pain. So, we're hoping that it's going to be a case of antibiotics and just to clear up the residual infection.

[00:08:43]But no doubt they'll want to check to see if there's any more of those grass seeds cuz that just seems so odd. But I do know with grass seeds like that and fox tails, it can happen that animals absorb them through their skin and then pass them through their digestive system because dogs do that when they get stuck in their paw. And Cath had a cat where that happened as well.

[00:09:12]>> I was working as well, but I can move my stuff around a bit.

[00:09:15]I don't have appointments like Sarah.

[00:09:29]>> So, the vet's next to the place we've been to before, yeah?

[00:09:38]>> I'll go to get you some mushrooms and shots one there, but I don't want to leave them in the car.

[00:09:43]But it's hot.

[00:09:45]>> So I'll wind the windows to see them.

[00:09:49]You're going to go with Daddy.

[00:09:55]He's very chilled, is Remy.

[00:09:58]So I just got an update from Leon from the vet, and they couldn't examine Remy without him biting them.

[00:10:06]So he's going to be put under this morning, and hopefully we can go and collect him this afternoon. I think they're just checking to make sure there are no other foreign bodies in his.

[00:10:20]And if there isn't, I'm guessing they're going to put him on antibiotics, and then my mom and my auntie, unfortunately, going to be have to be on wee-wee watch to make sure that he is weeing regularly, because if he stops weeing, that can damage the kidneys, and that could be really serious. So yeah, I'm so curious to find out how How did that happen? I've no idea.

[00:10:45]Anyway, it is what it is. He's in the best place, and yeah. Hopefully Hopefully they're able to see that it's all clear and give him the antibiotics. So we're about to head out on our trip.

[00:10:59]But by way of an update, Remy is home.

[00:11:06]I'm very happy.

[00:11:12]So I can't remember what I said last on here, but I found a grass seed in Remy's.

[00:11:23]But [snorts] then, on further inspection by the vet, they had to put him to sleep to do this, they found even more.

[00:11:29]So he had a bad infection, so they've given him tablets and flushed him out.

[00:11:36]He had two wee-wees in the night, so that's great. So, we know that he can pass urine, which was the This is the biggest concern in case there's like a blockage or something.

[00:11:46]So, he's doing very well, very excited to be back.

[00:11:49]Um but it did complicate the morning a little and I was running late, so we're setting off an hour later than planned, but Remy's happy.

[00:11:58]>> I just got some water. You won't hold more than 1/2 L in the ice.

[00:12:02]>> You press it.

[00:12:04]>> Cuz I pushed it up and pushed it back, but I just got warm water. Well, not warm.

[00:12:09]>> Don't add any more water cuz otherwise it'll slosh.

[00:12:13]>> Do it Do the same thing. Push it to the back.

[00:12:15]>> Yeah.

[00:12:21]So, and then Oh, thank you.

[00:12:24]Okay.

[00:12:26]So, Auntie Margaret and Mum are on Remy duty.

[00:12:32]Cleaning up after Remy if he has any accidents.

[00:12:34]>> Oh, so you want me to set it for you?

[00:12:37]>> [laughter] >> I'll get the Ufi out.

[00:12:39]>> Yeah, Ufi can do it.

[00:12:41]So, yes.

[00:12:44]So, he's on a course of antibiotics for 5 days, but otherwise that's That's it.

[00:12:48]And >> Oh, should I tell him? Hello.

[00:12:51]>> No, it's the vlog.

[00:12:53]Um And then, so for a night in the vets, obviously he was sedated and they did like the procedure. All of the tablets and all the treatment that he's had came to 164 euros, which is unbelievable. In England, I reckon I would have paid Well, one time I took Cleo, she had a suspected infection and they didn't have her in overnight. The cost of the consultation and the medication, the antibiotics was over 200.

[00:13:26]And in total, the whole thing was 300 cuz I actually claimed on the insurance.

[00:13:32]Hey. So, that's another week in France at a close. Just thought I'd give you guys an update on Remy. So, Remy is fine. He went to the vet actually this morning. That'll be featured in next week's vlog just for [music] an update to his microchip, but she did check his bottom uh to make sure that everything's good [music] and it is. Uh I'm feeling quite sad today. Um I just thought I would update you about the current situation in France [music] with the wildfires. So, we're not near the wildfires [music] that are burning around Bordeaux. There are two major wildfires. You've got the Gironde wildfire, which is near Merignac [music] Airport in Bordeaux. The other one is at Biscarrosse, the Biscarrosse [music] fire.

[00:14:17]And the Gironde fire is so big that it's now cut off access [music] to Cap-Ferret, which is basically a peninsula that comes down [music] and it heads down to the Bassin d'Arcachon.

[00:14:32]And it's an area of outstanding natural beauty and it's [music] just being destroyed. And some of the images on the news this morning [music] were of the firefighters working all through the night battling the blaze. It looked like Dante's hell. There are two [music] firefighters that have died in the Gironde, um young men that were [music] killed um in the blaze.

[00:14:55]Thankfully, no other deaths reported in Biscarrosse, [music] but there have been over 40,000 evacuations now.

[00:15:02]And we have another canicule, another heatwave forecast to begin [music] on the 29th of July. So, temperatures rocketing back [music] up to 40 and we can no longer cut our grass here. The rules are so strict. [music] In fact, if my French is correct, which I'm not 100% sure, but it sounded on the news as though [music] one of the fires, and I believe it's the one at Cap-Ferret, that that one [music] was uh triggered by the use of a petrol strimmer. It can cause sparks, which is why when it's dry like [music] this, you are not allowed to use petrol mowers or strimmers. It's too dangerous. And then look at the inferno [music] that has resulted. There are fires everywhere, and Spain [music] has declared a state of emergency. So, things are really quite dire >> [music] >> uh here in terms of the climate.

[00:15:59]And I just find it weighs quite heavy because when you see the scenes, you think, "My goodness, that could be me." You know, we live in in a wooded area.

[00:16:08]Imagine having to leave your home.

[00:16:10][music] Please keep everyone in your thoughts.

[00:16:14]Check in on family [music] and friends that live in the Bordeaux area.

[00:16:18]Um this is going to be a long [music] summer.

[00:16:21]We're already hearing that they're forecasting more heat waves for September and October.

[00:16:27]So, we're it's serious. So, do your bit. If you live in France, [music] please respect the rules. And the same goes for water, as well. Don't be using water outside of the rules that have been set in your region. Hopefully, we'll make it through this summer and minimize lives lost and damage [music] to property and the beautiful countryside that France boasts, because I'm looking at it now, and it's so beautiful. That's why I love France. I love living here. The nature, it's [music] just gorgeous.
