JCF Corporal Give Character Witness For Countree Hype/Orville Pernell Sentenced/5 ARR3STED In St AnnAdded:
On the spot, news media, we got the latest news. We don't care about the views, we just representing, right? Put local news internationally every night.
On the spot, wave that Jamaican flag from left to right. Let's get it right.
Y'all know the type.
We ain't dealing with the hype.
We make it take flight.
Yeah, man. My viewers and subscribers, what a blessed and wonderful Friday morning to each and every person out there tuning into on the spot news media. Now my peeps, you don't know how we do it over on this side each and every morning. We have to give thanks and praise to the most high creator for the preservation of life because life is indeed the greatest. So in the morning my peeps I have a few stories to share with you the regular members of CH public and also members of the diaspora.
So please like the video, share the video, watch the entire vlog so they can get a full understanding and a better appreciation everything going in Jamaica.
So watch my peeps in the morning to the name Friday the day when smile smile some of the ones and ones them pocket.
So whilst you're out there traversing these streets from a run point to the grill point as always my peeps safe travel p the gravel and continuously look out on the old dirty boy them always out there alerts. Yeah man. So the morning of my peeps we going to kick it off with some international stories and updates. Now the first international update presently on your screen now this was carried by nationwide one of Jamaica's most reputable news source and it reads a JCF for those who don't know what that acronym means the Jamaica Constablary Force so a Jamaica constabularary force corporal writes character reference for gun smuggler country hype. Yeah man. Now the article reads a corporal of the Jamaica Constablary Force JCF has come to the defense of confessed gunmuggler country hype writing to a federal court in support of the danceall producer. Now country hype whose given name is Tajay Ubert De 33 year old has pleaded guilty to one count of smuggling goods from the US and one count of delivering a firearm to a common carrier without written notice.
Now this is linked to the attempted smuggling of 24 handguns. Not one, two or three, but 24 handguns and six rifles. The one them call the tup tall up the highowered weapons like police and soldier and some of the criminal elements them carry. So 24 are the shot up shot up and six are the tall up tall up 32 magazines for the toty gun. So some extra one dead and 102 rounds of ammunition. The shipment which country hype has admitted to sending to Jamaica was intercepted by the same JCF that that particular corporal is a part of at a port in Kingston in March of 2026.
Now he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison. However, as a part of his plea deal, prosecutors have agreed to ask the court for leniency.
Now, the defense is asking for a sentence of no more than 36 months, which equates to 3 years behind bars. As a part of the pitch, nine character witnesses have extolled country hypes virtues in letters addressed to the federal court judge. So the police corporal in question who gave his name as Jason Bennett says he has known country hype for many years. He described the gununner as respectful, humble, and family oriented. Corporal Bennett says country hype has shown leadership, responsibility, and compassion to others, claiming he has done good in his community and has had a positive impact on the community. The corporal is joined in his support of country hype by eight other people including the vice principal of a charter school from New Jersey, two music executives, one from VP records, the other from Zodiac Worldwide and several other friends.
Now on the spot news media have a problem with this.
I don't have a problem with the person Jason Bennett which is the corporal but put aside the corporal part don't have a problem with Jason Bennett sending out whatsoever letter to the judge giving character witness as Jason Bennett. What I have a problem with is the corporal part attached to Jason Bennett because giving a letter stating that you are a corporal of police in the Jamaica constabularary force a serving member that means you are in the capacity of representation noting From what I know from the Constabulary Force Act, a corporal cannot represent the force unless he's given permission to do so by a person in the gazetted rank meaning say an assistant commissioner upwards. That is my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong.
So the fact that a corporal of police, Jason Bennett, not Jason Bennett, but corporal Jason Bennett is giving character witness.
That definitely don't sit well with on the spot news media because it's your same colleagues had to intercept 30 weapons that your friend sent to Jamaica. He confessed of it.
So it is no longer an allegation. It is now fact because country I confess and say yes me do it.
That doesn't sit well with on the spot news media for a corporal of police.
And I really do think that you, the corporal, should definitely be called in by the IR authorities if you weren't given permission to do so and be seriously questioned about your actions.
What would have prompted you to write to the presiding judge as a corporal of police to give character witness to a confessed gun smuggler? You see if country IP never confess and it was going through trial and then ask for character witness then we could see with that in some sort of sense but then again character witnesses is not asked for until the judge is about to do sentencing. So he would have been found not guilty or guilty. So the character witness if not guilty would not be needed and if found guilty then it would still be one of the same.
So my thing is that corporal I think that the hierarchy of the Jamaica constabularary force needs to have words with him in accordance to what he wrote in relation to country hype.
We do agree that country tribe cannot come from far and not know him as that person. And that is fine. You don't know him as that person. But guess what? The person that you don't know as that person. Confess not just to you but to the entire world that he is that person.
So this morning one of my viewers and subscribers reached out and stated boy on the spot. It look like once me can keep a few treat or run some money upon few people including few police. No matter what I do, I will never get in trouble. And he was speaking in relation to this very same topic. So because a country hype offers some charity tricks in whichever community that he's from makes him a good person.
No person who says that they are family oriented would send 30 guns to the very country that they are from to destroy another person's family. We cannot be in support of country hype and Corporal Bennett. Whomever you are, wherever you are, shame on you. Literally, shame on you. Now, the next thing that we going to talk about, you know, my peeps, is still in the United States of America, but this time in the state of Georgia.
Now who remember that brother presently on your screen identified as Orville Andrew Pernell real old do boy in the truest meaning of the slang yeah man.
Now this criminal element Orville Andrew Pernell is a Jamaican criminal element who fled custody in St. Lucia where he was wanted for murder and who also escaped custody whilst in Jamaica. A him did escape out a central police lock up.
Well, not even escape still. They let him out in literally walk right out of Kingston central police lock up. Now, this criminal element have since been sentenced to federal prison in the United States for possession of a firearm by an alien illegally or unlawfully present in the United States of America. Now, the criminal element is 33 years old and he's from the parish of St. Mary in Jamaica. He was sentenced yesterday by US district judge to 33 months in prison. So basically get a slap on the wrist. Now after sentencing he will be the subject to removal and extradition proceedings.
So me make hear story. Boy, I be I tell you this brother living like a movie.
Now according to court documents outlined by the court, the criminal element was charged with murder in St. Lucia on the 8th of October 2020. So while awaiting trial, he escaped custody in St. Lucia and was later arrested in Jamaica on the 21st of July, 2021. I also carried that story. He subsequently escaped Jamaican custody whilst awaiting extradition to St. Lucia. And nearly 18 months later, American immigration authorities encountered the criminal element attempting to illegally enter the United States at an unmanned area on the border of California and the Mexico border. Right?
Now the US authorities stated that the criminal element identified himself not as Mr. Pernell but as O'Neal Christopher Reed and was allowed to enter the United States of America pending further immigration proceedings. Now, the court documents stated that on July 21st, 2023, sheriff deputies in Clayton County in Georgia stopped the criminal element for driving a motorcycle at 115 miles per hour. Now, the deputies reportedly searched him and found a stolen gun in his jacket pocket. Although he was arrested for the speeding, the fleeing the police and driving without a license and receiving the stolen gun, the criminal element managed to post bail and was released from custody in less than 2 months. Now the court was told that in 2025 federal law enforcement determined that the criminal element that a personel was living in the United States under the alias of Reed that is O'Neal Christopher Reed. Now, he was arrested on the 4th of April, 2025, while agents simultaneously executed a search warrant at his home in Hinesville in Georgia.
Now, the US authorities said that agents found another stolen handgun and an assault rifle with loaded highcapacity magazine at his home. So on February 11, 2026, the criminal element finally pleaded guilty to possession of the firearm by an illegal alien. Now, according to US authorities, whilst in federal custody, he repeatedly damaged the walls of his cell in an attempt to escape custody again. Boy, I be tell peeps, the thing rough. But anyway, make continue. Now, the first thing that we talk about locally, my peeps, is coming from assistant commissioner of police.
The man in charge of the strategic operations portfolio. We are talking about Dr. Gary McKenzie. Now, he was speaking on a recent episode of the Jamaica Force JCF, a Force for Good podcast.
Now ACP McKenzie says that for sustained crime reduction to continue in this country, it depends on maintaining public trust. Rightfully stated. So ACP McKenzie says that the JCF capabilities have been strengthened by technology and that as at May 16, the country has recorded a 24% reduction in homicides since the start of the year. And now the data from the JCF is that up to May 169 fatalities by the hands of criminal elements have been recorded in the country and that is 63 fewer than the 262 recorded in the corresponded period last year. The data shows a decline in knackins and clappings with 186 recorded between January 1st and May 16 of this year. That is 97 fewer in the corresponding period last year. So we're going to hear from ACP Gary McKenzie as he weighs in on this one. Now listen, >> we believe to sustain that reduction, it is easy and it is hard. It is hard in the sense that if we lack focus, if we don't continue to get the public to be on our side and to have that confidence, then it is difficult. But it is easy when we continue to track by virtue of our data analysis in terms of our preparation in terms of ensuring that all our membership understand the vision the mission and how we expect to achieve and as well as get the public to continue to be confident within us and support us with information so that we can put that into intelligence and that we will be successful. One of the things that we have to do is to be very scientific in our approach. And so looking at our data, looking at the players, that is one of the things that we have to do as it relates to crime.
However, that also has to to actually be guided by how we communicate the information to our own persons for them to understand. And of course we have to always be continuing in terms of improving our own capabilities both technologically tactically and by virtue of the training that we have.
>> So the assistant commissioner of police that Gary McKenzie also states and I want to listen to this clearly. He states that the police are duty bound to explicitly state the reason for pulling over or searching a motorist vehicle.
Now his comments comes amid discussion about police conduct during traffic stops. ACP McKenzie says ongoing training is necessary for police personnels assigned to traffic stops. So again, we going to hear from ACP McKenzie as he weighs in on this one.
Now listen, there are several different types of stops. Of course, it starts with the authority of the police to make stop for various reasons as well as to stop and search. It's very important that the police to the citizen interaction is very pointed and very specific and I believe that in some of the instances that's where the the challenge arise and so it is for us to continue to speak to our membership and to let them understand that where you have to stop someone for a traffic stop or you have to intercept a vehicle for a stop and search that that information is very very clear to people and persons having gotten the information then they should confirm. We are doing a lot of training certainly training has to be continuous and it is very important but what is also important is even for the public to understand and to have information and in a lot of instances inform themselves. I have seen where even persons with legal minds are making mistakes and are communicating narratives that really um are not so.
Now the next thing that mega talk about you know my peeps is coming out of the troubled wartorrn crime riddled St. Katherine North police division where one man is presently awaiting his day in court following his arrest by members of the specialized operations SWAT team in connection with the seizure of unauthorized ammunition on Tuesday May 19th. Now reports reaching on the spot news media is that the SWAT team was conducting an operation along Lawrence Drive in Homestead St. Katherine when they observed a group of men. The men reportedly ran upon seeing the police.
However, they were pursued and one man was held. Now the team later searched the area where the men had been standing and two magazines, one of them loaded with three 9mm rounds were found. The identity of the man in custody is being withheld pending formal charges and further investigation.
Yeah man. Now the next thing that we going to talk about and know my peeps is coming out of the garden parish of Saint Anne where five were arrested after a gun was seized in a raid at a Saint an gated community. So, five men have since been arrested and taken into custody in Saint Anan on Wednesday after the police raided premises in a gated community and seized an illegal gun. It is reported that sometime around 11 p.m. the police special unit in Saint Anan entered the Oeras Country Club in Great Pond after receiving intelligence of suspicious looking men in the gated community. Now during the operation a Taurus semi-automatic pistol with a magazine a fix was seized by them. The five men were arrested in connection with that seizure. The Saintan police are presently investigating.
So of course I don't know say the names and identities and everything. We will get that after and update you subsequently. Yeah man. Now the next thing that we going to talk about know my peeps is coming from the lips of a centurion meaning said this brother live to see 100 years old and you know surprisingly there is a little over 400 centurions living in Jamaica presently. We never know that.
And the man that we are going to hear from who have since been identified as Donald Albert Maxwell is one of the 400 match. Yeah man.
Now Donald Albert Maxwell spoke on nationwide on Thursday.
He was born in the corporate area on the 2nd of July 1925.
So he will be turning 101 in next month. So he told Nationwide's George Davis that his birthday wish is for Jamaica to be murderfree without murders.
Mr. Maxwell wish comes a day after the national centurion day was observed in the country on May 20. That day is observed and celebrated annually as National Centurion Day. We are going to also hear from another centurion that is Ethlyn Clark who is also encouraging people to love and care for one another.
For her part, Myrtle Brown Crawford who will turn one years old on July 10th is also thankful for reaching the milestone.
Now we going to hear from the two and definitely we going to listen to what them have to say keenly and please me I beg you know my people please this are come from the real OG's as some people would have called them but I call them the real people them of Jamaica when know the thing from grassroot is. So just listen to what them have to say and please implement it in your daily life.
Now listen, my message is a serious message. We need to teach the little children to be nice to each other so we don't have so much murders. I mean a crime is a crime that's expected. If you don't expect murder and you commit murder for what? No value. That is the problem today. I would like to see a country rid of murders.
>> As I said in the old days when you heard of a murder it was like Santa was come.
>> Yes.
>> You know and the main one at that time was Ruben and at South young and old to accept Jesus Christ as their savior because it's the only way out to accept Jesus Christ as them savior and lord. you know that you have that love, you know, and concern about people. Hallelujah.
And giving God praise with some think.
Now the next thing that we talk about, you know, my peeps, I'm just giving you a statistical update. So just over 170 firearms were seized across the island between January 1st and March 31st of this year. The update was given by the Jamaica Constabularary Force JCF on Wednesday. The JCF says of that number 32 were seized at ports by the firearms and narcotics investigation division. 30 out of the 32 a country gun them po may I tell you it rough. Now, according to the JCF, 99 firearms were seized from 140 asalants, whilst 44 were recovered with no individuals charged. In the first quarter of the year, 80 individuals were charged with firearms possession. This group comprised of 63 males and 17 females islandwide. The JCF says the police laid 595 charges under the Firearms Act within the first quarter. The most common offenses were possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and the use of a prohibited weapon to commit a felony. The St. Andrew South Police Division has so far recorded the highest number of firearm related arrests and charges with 60 cases, followed by St. James with 54 and Hanova with 45.
The JCF also stated that 17 firearm offenders have since received a combined total of over 250 years in custodial sentences in the first quarter of this year. The Jamaica Constabularary Force JCF provided the update in a media release on Wednesday. Now, according to the JCF, the first quarter saw several successful convictions with six of the 17 convicted individuals receiving life sentences. The force notes that some must serve between 10 and 21 years before being eligible for parole. And as I stated earlier, just over 170 firearms were seized across the island between January 1st and March 31st of this year.
So kudos to the JCF personnels who continue to act justly and swiftly and continue to be resilient in their efforts to rid our country of these criminal elements who continue to flood our nation shores with illegal weapons.
Yeah, man. So anyway, my peeps, remember to like, share, subscribe to the channel, stay tuned to On the Spot News Media as I continue to bring you fresh news and updates in a subsequent newscast on the spot news media. Yeah, man.
