This Looks Like a Horrible Retirement to Me

[00:00:01]This seems like a horrible retirement to me and I just will just jump right into it. So check this out. This is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for 2024.

[00:00:09]Average hours per day spent in leisure activities, all right? And you'll see if you're over 15 years old, you got 5 hours a day of leisure activities, of which 2.6 is watching stupid stupid box.

[00:00:25]Another 0.59 is socializing and communicating, probably by this stupid thing and I guarantee these numbers are going to get higher as we get further 2028, 2029 and stuff. Relaxing and thinking is 1/2 of 1 hour. This is I don't even know if that's 1/2 hour. It's a 1/3 of an hour. Playing games, computer use or leisure excluding exams.

[00:00:46]Yeah, that seems low. Reading for personal interest, that's definitely low. I mean, for me, I read a hell of a lot more than that cuz I'm cool and you're not. Not you guys, of course, just the the regular population. And then participating sports, exercise or recreation. Is that That just seems ridiculous to me. I mean, my goodness, dude. You can watch 3 hours of TV, but you can only freaking get exercise and all that. Come on, baby. So now we're going to go to 25 to 34-year-olds.

[00:01:12]And they got 4.28 hours of leisure, 4.26, which again, a significant amount is spent watching the stupid box, all right? That's all good. I just the idea, of course, that we have it so much worse than you know, the boomers or not the boomers, maybe the boomers, the older people that you think previous generations had a lot more leisure time. And they're trying to make this case, by the way, that back in the old days we had a lot more leisure time when everyone was a farmer. I've seen this on social media. I'm like, Oh, yeah, they had a lot more leisure time than we do now. And I'm like, stupid. Now let's keep going.

[00:01:49]So that's So you see here these guys right here. So we're just going to skip over here to my age cuz I'm 55. You can see my age, we got 5.34 hours of leisure time. So, we have more leisure time than than the 25 to 34, but watch how much TV we watch. 3 hours a day of TV. I just let you in. Now it wants to come back out. 3 hours a day of TV.

[00:02:13]Point a quarter hour of exercise, sports, and recreation. No wonder we're all freaking cranky and diabetes and fat and all that. 0.33 hours of reading.

[00:02:24]What's going on? We think for 0.42 hours relaxing and thinking. Watch this. This is 65 and older.

[00:02:33]They got 6.95 hours a day of leisure and sports activities, of which over a half is taken up by watching the stupid box, and they're only exercising just a little bit more than my generation, my people right here, 55 to 64, but hardly.

[00:02:50]And you can see reading for they're reading more, that's good.

[00:02:53]Computers for that, for games, playing games, relaxing and thinking.

[00:02:59]But again, 4.21 hours of watching TV.

[00:03:11]You know, the youngins. Youngins who should be out there getting jiggy with them ladies, you know what I'm saying?

[00:03:20]Anyway, 15 to 24, they got 5 hours of recreation, of which they're watching TV 1.86 hours. But look, they're participating in sports or more than anybody else. Anyway, I just if you're retiring to watch TV, I just that's that just seems like hell on earth to me. Well, but Josh, we know you watch Fox News. I literally don't watch Fox News. I watch the hockey game if the Bruins are playing tonight. Hawks played last night. I watch them sports, but I don't watch that much sports.

[00:03:48]Um I don't really watch TV. I mean, I I watch a couple of I was watching something the other day.

[00:03:53]The black rabbit with that Jason Bateman guy, whatever his name is. It was pretty good. The last episode kind of sucked, but it was pretty good. I do like watching some stuff, but I don't watch that much TV. I like to read. I do watch YouTube videos. I'm watching my man Jason Whitlock right now.

[00:04:07]You know, cuz Whitlock's a legend, even though he's now saying he regrets voting for Trump. I said, Whitlock, you fall for this stuff cuz Tucker saying he regret voting for Trump. So, come on, man. You [snorts] got to vote for Trumpster. Trumpster's crushing All right. Anyway, long story short, don't spend your retirement watching TV.

[00:04:24]What's the point? I was talking to this guy today. We'll call him Richard.

[00:04:28]And he's like, I said, "What do you like to do?" You know, he's got a wife and kids. He's just a good guy. He's like, "Well, I like to hang out with my friends. We still got a lot of friends from when I was in middle middle school, junior high, and stuff." He goes, "I just like to eat out." I said, "Man, you eat out as much as you possibly want because when you die" He's got no kids, no wife. He's just a great guy. So, when you die, you're going to be leaving a whole lot of money to your stupid Governor Newsom cuz he lives in California. I said, "Start eating out more, man, because if that's what you enjoy doing, do it." Now, he has a He's an engineer by trade, so he likes like planes and stuff. I said, "Man, you know, you need to start taking flying lessons or something like that cuz you're going to die with too much money. We don't want Governor Newsom to get that. That's for sure. So, start doing something and you know, whatever it is, but anyway, it's good stuff. All right. God bless. Love your thoughts. Smash. And don't watch TV in retirement like these guys are doing. If nothing else, then my man Richard got a dog. He's like, "Hey, I got to buy a new car to take care of my dog." I said, "I get it." Look at him. Look at him. Yes, yes, right. Oh, yeah. Uh-huh.
