The NEET UG exam was cancelled after serious allegations of a nationwide paper leak, with the CBI investigating the case and not ruling out a leak from within the National Testing Agency itself. Meanwhile, the Congress party in Kerala remains paralyzed over its choice for the next chief minister, with internal conflicts between Vidi Satishan, Casey Venu Gopal, and Romesh Chennatla creating a political crisis that has left the ruling alliance in suspended animation despite their electoral victory.

CNN-NEWS18 LIVE TV | TVK Wins Big! Congress, Left, VCK, IUML & AIADMK Rebels back Vijay LIVEAdded:
right now is the conundrum currently in the state of Keralum after the Congress party's thumping victory in the state elections. Who will get the mantle of the chief minister of Kerala? Because it is a power play that is taking place not just between the key players on the ground the three key players who are Romesh Chanatala Vidi Satishian and Casey Venu Gopal but the fight is also escalating between the Kerala Congress Carter as well as the Gandhi leadership.
It's crazy how they have still not been able to arrive at a consensus. Aish man, but we will tell you all about that and a lot more that's happening. Let's first take a look at the headlines.
India raises gold, silver, import tariffs to 15% to curb overseas purchases of the precious metals and ease pressure on the country's foreign exchange reserves. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi reduces his convoy size as part of a broader push for restraint and fuel conservation. Only two vehicles in the Prime Minister's convoy.
>> Even as Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Sha go on cost cutting drive, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Man arrives at Union Minister Nitan Katkari's residence for a meeting in a large convoy.
>> And big win for Chief Minister Vijay in the Tamil Nadu power play as he sails through in the flow test. Around 144 MLAs voted in favor of Vijay. 22 MLAs voted against Vijay while five MA five MLAs excuse me abstained from voting.
This also comes as the AIDNK rebellion also backed Vijay.
>> Also after facing backlash the Tamil Nadu chief minister Vijay has revoked the appointment of his personal astrologer as the officer on special duty.
>> And the latest in the neat paper league storm. What we are learning is that the neat UGG cancellation brow has now reached the Supreme Court. The plea that has been filed in the top court alleges system systematic failure by the NTA.
Also, RSS has gone on to bat for dialogue with Pakistan says people-to-people contact could be considered comes after Rajnat Singh's recent remark on terror having no country. Politics has now erupted over it. And talking about the TCS Nasha conversion controversy, the AIM corporator who sheltered Nidhak Khan gets his property bulldozed days after she was arrested from there.
>> And in other news coming in from the United Kingdom, the prime minister there, Kia Tama, grapples with leadership crisis as he stares down calls from labor critics for him to leave Downing Street.
And as we are highlighting the crisis continues in Keralam even after weeks of the victory and days of speculations.
Congress party remains paralyzed over its choice for the next chief minister of Keralum. The inability to name a leader for the new government has left the alliance in a state of suspended animation overshadowing its impressive electoral success. Remember over 100 seats in the 140 member assembly. The party had initially backed leader of the opposition VD Satician for the top job.
A move seen as aligning with the prevailing public sentiment in Keralam.
However, once it became clear that the AICC general secretary Casey Venugal and veteran leader Romesh Chanatala were also vying for the top post, several allies retreated into a cautious silence to avoid being seen as dictating terms to the Congress party including the IUML. Now the prevailing sentiment among the UDF partners is that the Congress is rapidly squandering the political cap capital gained from its massive assembly poll mandate.
>> We're also learning that uh the constituents have already sent urgent feelers to the Congress high command demanding that res they resolve the impass immediately. Remember, we had heard from the party last evening where they were in fact rather sure that they'll come up with a decision by yesterday, but so far the conundrum remains outside of the ruling alliance.
And here's where things get rather tricky for the Grand Old Party.
Questions are being raised regarding the AIC's role in the crisis. Remember, Casey Venugopal is what are the feelers suggesting they're choosing to back.
However, this entire general who led this victory for the UDF, that is Vidi Satishan. So far when Piner Vijay was the state chief minister, he was the leader of opposition. He steered the UDF to victory. But he's not being rewarded.
That will not go down well with the Carter and that is the crisis the Congress seems to be grappling with at the moment.
No because all the procedures they have obtaining the Congress party has maintained some procedures that those are they are doing it with no without any delay we are all requesting the decision should be announced.
The Congress has not been able to identify and choose a leader. Kerala people are denied of a government and the saddest parties the Congress high command which claims to be a high command in Delhi they have not been able to take a decision they have not been able to bring together a consensus it shows the inability of the Congress central leadership in solving such issues We're now getting some more breaking news on the broadcast. Uh let's take a look at that as we are getting to know that Congress leaders especially MLAs who have given a support to Casey Vagopal are now in fact insisting and putting out those questions from the party supporters as well. They are the ones who are the subject of all those questions. The vehicles of some of the elected MLAs we are told in their own constituencies were stopped with those questions as to why they didn't extend the support to Vidi Satishan. So remember the Carter particularly locally are in support of Vidi Satishan and that's why this push back is coming in from them. The newly elected MLAs from Nandapuram constituency and we have a name as well KM Abijjit was surrounded by people at a wedding venue with these very questions on why he in fact chose Casey Vayogal.
So all of these dramatic developments coming in from the supporters of Vid Satishan my colleague Nitu reu Kumar who's got us that information is with us on the broadcast nu how do you think the party high kumar is going to steer through all of this there is a lot of push back from the carter there in Kerala they are wholeheartedly in support of vid satishan they want him to be the next chief minister of Kerala from chosen from the congress party but clearly loyalties seem to be with Casey Venu Gopal how are they going to steer through this >> now see in many of the places where the MLAs are going especially those those through the media has come out or it has or it has come out and people believe that they have voted for not for Widi Satishan questions are being asked to them like uh Kabijit when he went for a wedding went at a wedding he was asked this question now not just the MLAs but even MP Beni Behan last Tonight there is a wish well of Congress MP Beni Beahhan.
He was surrounded by people and he was asked as to whom he supports. Beni Behan has come out and said that it is not that workers stopped him but they were just genuinely uh asking questions. Now this is the situation of many MLAs when they go out on the ground. They are asked uh as to what who is the next chief minister and what their preference is and many batting for Viri Satishan on the ground. uh that is what we are seeing when many MLAs are uh going on the field >> right but nu at the same time it's the anger against the Gandhis also that is extremely palpable playing out those visuals on our screens of the posters that have been put out and you just look at the language of some of the Congress Carter against the Gandhis they've said Mr. Rahul and Priyanka forget Vionard you won't win again from here Mr. Rahul Casey might be your bag bearer but people of Kerala will never forgive you.
Uh this is not a warning Kerala will never forgive you. So this kind of language coming in from several of the Congress Carter on the ground with palpable anger directed towards the Gandhis for propping up Casey Venugopar is this only going to escalate till a final decision is taken because only after the Kerala chief minister is picked could the kind of damage control be put into motion. In the absence of that we can see such language only escalate.
>> See uh this morning we saw these posters put up in Ward and the board of the district uh Congress committee office but uh see we cannot say for sure this was put up by the congress carders because there has been instances where others have uh in recently uh someone with another political leaning also putting up a flex board in some area. So we cannot say for sure that this is a congress carders of their workers that has put up but these posters have come up taking the name of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and saying that don't try to make ward into another Amiti it is like a warning to them saying that why are they supporting Casey Venu Gopal and not Vidi Satishan not just this when anyone puts up a social media post for example when Rahul Gandhi had put up the post there were comments there people going and telling him uh police elect Vidi Satishan as the chief minister yesterday when Casey Vayu gobal put up a Facebook post also the comments were on similar lines. So this is what we are seeing online and offline. Uh last week there were even uh demonstrations marches in Thiranapuram also where people came out in large number and supported Vidi Satishan as uh the next chief minister since he has been leading from the front in the past five years.
This is something which we are seeing in many places. We'll have to wait and watch how the workers of the Congress or the general supporters will take this uh once the announcement come and which way the announcements are because as of now when we are speaking to all the three camps all of them seem to be extremely positive >> right so positive vibes coming in from all three camps but there can only be one chief minister and as the deadlock continues we're getting some more information where amid the internal discussion sources say that in a recent meeting a few senior leaders told Rahul Gandhi that the protests in the state and we can see those visuals on our screen of the protests which are taking place in favor of Vid Satishan they have called those protests artificial and allegedly planned by a section within the party clearly referring to VD Satishan's camp now according to the sources leaders have also conveyed that the aim of such mobilization was to put pressure on the high command over the leadership decision a round of meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Malikan Kh is yet to take place where the final decision on the kevla chief ministerial pick is expected Ed. So that is the big update that's coming in from top sources. I'm joined by my colleague Sharon Elizabeth on the broadcast. So Sharon, the entire culture of the Congress to parachute in a chief minister seems to be hurting them especially after such a thumping majority in the state of Kerala. But clearly there is a lot of pressure on the ground even as the MLAs are backing Casey Venu Gopal who is the top leadership's pick. This kind of backlash is something the Congress party cannot ignore.
Well, clearly Aishman, the more the delay is happening, it seems the decision is getting complicated. Maybe that's why it has been almost 10 days ever since the result came out. But the Congress party is not able to decide or zero upon a chief minister for the state Kerala. Uh so what we know is yesterday they in fact had a wider consultation.
They called in around 8 to nine senior leaders of Kerala. That includes former PCC presidents, working presidents as well. uh there were sirju Radha Krishna and Amam Hutan there was the other leaders that came Hubli Dharan. Now the sources have been suggesting that in this particular meeting Rahul Gandhi had in fact asked about the kind of protest the kind of poster flexes that was put across Kerala. What is actually was it actually organic or was it artificial?
Uh of course around eight of these leaders who came are in support of KC.
Around six of them are in support of KC.
So they clearly said that this is uh this seems to be artificial and not organic trying to arm twist the leadership. So of course with each passing day uh it is going to be it is still a suspense who is going to the chief minister but today at 5:30 Rahul Gandhi and Malika Arjun Ki is all set to meet at 10 Rajat mark. So we will hopefully get to know today a likelihood an announcement could be made or by tomorrow announcement could be made on the same. Mhm.
>> So Sharon exactly the conflict of interest part comes into play here and this has been the case in the state of Kerala when on deciding whether it is going to be Vidi Satishan or Casey Va Gopal or even Ramsh Chennala or the chair of the chief minister the leaders who are giving Rahul Gandhi this suggestion that this seems to be a manufactured pro protest it's not organic they are the ones who are sitting in Delhi is that right or are they being able to give that local sort of sentiment out and is this a genuine uh thing that has been presented a picture that has been pres presented to Rahul Gandhi? How does one assess that part?
>> Well, these leaders are very much from Kerala, senior leaders from Kerala. This include the uh former PCC presidents as well as the working presidents and specifically they were called to know what is really the public sentiments because remember KC Venu Gopal has the backing of MLA but Vidi Sadishan has the backing of public public on the ground party workers Romesh Chan has been saying that he is a senior. So clearly the leadership wanted to understand that actually is there actually a lot of public sentiments with Vidi Sadish and perhaps that is why there was a you know long discussion that was held with these eight leaders who were in the national capital and all of them a majority of them of course have been saying that this is nothing but a tactic to armed with the leadership the leadership which should go with what is really their you know opinion or what is their decision is now overall if we take the history of Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan Karnataka We have always seen that the Congress party heavily depends on the CLP on what the MLAs have been saying. MLAs are in favor of KT Ben Kopal at the moment. He seems to be the front runner and perhaps that is why we are seeing a bit of a delay in taking the decision because the central leadership wants to justify whatever decision they are taking. Kerala is very close to them because majority of the MPs come from Kerala. This could have a direct impact on the 2029 elections Lok Sabha election as well. So they want to take a very calibrated move when it comes to the chief announcing the chief minister of Kerala.
>> Right. So the question remains are the optics also being managed around Rahul Gandhi when it comes to the crisis in Kerala. That's also another aspect that seems to be emerging amid this leadership tussle. But Nitu as well as Sharon thank you for decoding the situation currently within the Congress camp. But let's shift focus to another piece of news that's coming in when it comes to the fiasco surrounding the need UG 2026 exam. Now that has been cancelled after serious allegations of a nationwide paper leak triggered massive outrage on the ground conducted on the 3rd of May for nearly 22 lakh students.
The exam is now under CBI investigation following intelligence inputs pointing to possible leaks during the printing stage.
>> We also in fact learning uh that the other aspect that is being looked at is the paper setting process. So the people involved in the setting of the paper might just also be implicated in this case. So far, nine people have been arrested while alleging the alleged mastermind in this case who uh goes by the name Schubam has also been sent to CBI custody. This controversy has now reached the Supreme Court with the federation of the Indian Medical Association now filing a plea alleging a systematic failure on part of the National Testing Agency in this entire examination process and also now seeking a highpowered committee led by a former Supreme Court judge to supervise the reconduction of the neat examination.
Now amid this uproar, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Cage Rival has also called upon a Gen Z protest like the one that has been seen in Nepal. We're now getting some more breaking news.
Learning that the CBI is not ruling out a leak from the NTA itself. This is rather big, ladies and gentlemen. The National Testing Agency might just be wholly involved. Is what is the assessment coming in from the Central Bureau of Investigation? Sources are suggesting a possibility of a leak from the question paper printing press or from the examination center is rather minimal. So these two aspects take a back seat when it is about the involvement of the national testing agency itself. This is a big news that has been brought to us for by our colleague Arona who's now joining us on the broadcast. Arona, how did the CBI come to this deduction now that we are not looking at the printing press press leak or even a leak on part of the peeping paper setter? It's the NTA that uh is in the dock at the moment.
>> See, it's too early. CBI has been into this investigation only 24 hours and therefore it's understandable that the agency is not ruling out any aspect at this stage. However, a team of CBI officials did go to the National Testing Agency. They have spread out across the country to Pune to Nasi uh to Hana also various cities of Rajasthan. There's a team in Dadun as well. Essentially what they're trying to piece together is the modus operandi and also the source of the leak. What is very evident to the CBI is that the modus operandi of the 2026 leak is polar opposite of what happened in 2024. What are the differences? In 2024, it was an it was apparent that a gang was at work. In 2026, preliminary probe seems to be suggesting that this is no gang that was at play since the papers were in circulation since April which is about 42 days before uh the exam was conducted. This is very different from what happened in 2024. So at the stage of framing of the question paper itself, did somebody leak out parts of the question paper? If you recall the WhatsApp groups and the encrypted groups that have been probed by the police, they reportedly said 400 members on the group, they reportedly said do not forward this to anybody outside of the group. So for almost 40 days, uh these papers were in circulation. Hence the first thing that the investigators are looking at did this leak happen at the stage of the framing of question paper itself and that's why questioning everybody who was involved at the NTA level becomes very pertinent. Second question that the investigators are facing is did it leak at the stage of printing of the question paper?
Possibility of that looks minimal. Uh that's what investigators believe but like I said they're not ruling out anything at this stage. The third and the most important point that they're looking at is uh that you know the the rate of uh the leaked papers pre previous investigation seems to suggest that a leaked paper sells for anything around 50 lakhs. But in this case in thousands also the paper has been sold off. So that's also something which is new to the investigation and hence uh CBI at this stage is focusing on the money trail on the forensic test of the digital devices of people who have been arrested and their entire focus is on pinning down the source the origin of the leak.
>> Right. But Arunima then could we see the questioning of the top NTA leadership because currently the the digital devices linked to those who have been arrested. They are pretty much the small fish in the bottom rung of this entire leak nexus that has spread across the country. But if the papers were in circulation 42 days before the exam putting the lens on the framing of the paper could we see the questioning of the likes of Abhishek Singh the director general of the NTA by the CBI?
See, at this stage, I do not think the investigators would want to take any names. Like I said, they've been into the investigation only 24 hours. But what investigators are certain about is that this calls for a detailed threadbear probe where everyone involved should be questioned. The dig digital devices at each stage of of uh this question paper getting framed, getting circulated to people who who should be uh having access to it. Each of those digital devices will be scrutinized.
they will be put through forensic test.
Whoever was responsible or custodian of the question paper is likely to be questioned. And you're absolutely right.
So far, people who have been arrested seems to be either end beneficiaries or people in the outer ring of this concentric circle. CBI believes that the mastermind I mean nobody so far has even an inkling as to who the mastermind is.
They have some leads, some solid leads and those digital devices uh could provide some more insight about the po point of origin of the leaked question paper. But yes, what agency sources tell us is at this stage nothing is being ruled out. Nobody is being given a clean chit. All aspects are going to be probed very deeply.
>> Right. Aruma, do stay on with us. That's a very important piece of update that you're bringing for our viewers. But we're getting some more. We're learning that one of the key mastermind allegedly who is now in the CBI custody. Shoubam Khnar who has been arrested in this paper leak scandal was produced before the killer court in Mumbai. The court sent him to two days of transit remand.
The CBI will produce him before Delhi court tomorrow and CBI has also told the court that Shoubam has multiple associates who need to be identified now and therefore his custody is essential for further investigation. The CBI will be taking Shubam to Delhi on a flight we are told that has been scheduled for this evening. My colleague Ana Gupta with that information. Ana Shoubam was one of the key alleged masterminds in this particular case. But now fingers are also being pointed at the NTA. But Shubam also holds a lot of answers and that that's why his uh transit remand holds the key before he gets produced in the Delhi court tomorrow. More on this update that you're bringing for us.
Absolutely. So now as you mentioned Shubam Kar the 30-year-old who has been uh you know who is under CBI custody has been given transit remand by the special CBI court here at Mumbai. He will be taken to Delhi today evening from Mumbai for further investigation and he will be produced before the court tomorrow before the Delhi court. Now what has come forward that he allegedly took the neat examination paper the paper which is leaked. He took it from a man in Ahila Nagar is what has come forward. He then transported it to Pune and then he bought it to Nashik. What has come forward is now he had traveled to Uttar Pradesh a few years back. Now there he uh you know made some contacts with some of the people there and this is how this was facilitated with the people in Uttar Pradesh. She was still in contact with them and this is part of a larger network which could uh you know which is across states. Now uh this uh person uh Shoubhham Karna also allegedly gave the paper to a man who had come from Hana.
He had come down physically from Hana to this accused Shubam Karnar's home in Nashik to take the paper from him. So far police has not found any uh financial transactions between Shoubam Kar and the man who had come down from Hana to take this paper physically. Uh no financial uh transactions has been found so far in the investigation. But yes, police is investigating as to how many people did Shubam Kar give it to, what was the uh mode, you know, did he do it digitally? Did he transfer it in person? Because this man who came down from Hana, he came down in person. Now it is also alleged that he allegedly sold that paper to 10 more people. Now who are these people? He's also accused of earning you know that he uh brought the paper for 10 lakhs and then sold these uh papers for 15 lakhs to more 10 people. Now where were these people present and who allegedly were these people will come uh in further pro because he is under CBI custody. more links can come forward as to you know how many people were involved and who was he giving these papers to. He uh he runs a medical uh counseling service in Nashik. He himself uh is a student of BAMS a bachelor's in ioveic uh science.
He was a graduate in this and used to run a medical uh counseling service. Now what has also come forward is that he did not give these papers to anyone in Nashik is what is coming forward in the initial uh probe >> right and Ana please stay with us because we're getting more updates when talking about the nexus that has been operating when it comes to the paper league it's PG operators as well as these counselors in these coaching centers now we've accessed the picture of Manisha Hagmare one of the key accused from Pune her visuals have now been accessed she is also under the scanner for being part of this entire nexus that is The visual on your screen Ana. So any links with Shubhham Kaar when it comes to Manisha Vagmare's role in this entire nexus.
>> Absolutely. So now after questioning of Shubhham Kar is how the police reached to Manisha Vagmari and one more accused who was uh arrested from Ailia Nagar Vagmare. Now this Manisha is is in contact with the person from Ailia Nagar. Uh she allegedly used to facilitate she used to identify the students who were who were going to appear for Nate or who going to give the medical exam who wanted to be doctors.
She used to facilitate the contact between the students and that agent who has been detained from Ailia Nagar. She runs a beauty parlor there. But after the arrest after the after the police took custody of Shubhham Khnar from Nashik, it was when the police reached to Manisha Vagmare uh who in Pune. Now she was in contact which has been established by her phone and by her laptop which has been seized also by the police that she did exchange a lot of calls a lot of video calls with the accused who has been taken in custody from Ahila Nagar. So she so she's been accused of you know facilitating contact. So the students who wanted to appear who wanted to become doctors she used to facilitate contact of those very students with the main handler now who has also been uh taken in custody from Ailia Nagar. Now what exactly did she take money from these students who she uh you know made contact the very accused from Ailia Nagar who gave the paper to Shubhham Karna. Now what exactly was the chain? What exactly was the link? What was Manisha Vagmare obtaining out of it? We'll come to for uh once police uh you know questions her investigation is underway. Police will also hand over Manisha Vagmar to the CBI for further investigation because these three major names Manisha Shoubam Kar and one more accused from Mahila Nagar have come forward in the Maharashtra Indones paper leak which has come to for >> right Arana do stay on with us in fact an important update that's coming in from Rajasthan remember Rajasthan seeker has become sort of an epicenter from where this leak emerged and how it has now transgress the various state boundaries. It's a it's a multi-state probe that the CBI is looking at and it's become political because now the former Rajasthan chief minister Ashoke Gallot has made a big statement a charge rather where he said that DH binwal the accused who's been arrested in the need paper leak case is an office bearer of the Bhart Jantaa party is this the reason why the BJP government in Rajasthan tried to cover up the need paper leak for 3 weeks he says did not file an FIR even he also goes goes on to allege that he has been saying all of this since 11th of May as to why the BJP government is not filing an FIR and now BJB's true colors have been exposed. Uh so remember Ashok Gord has been making this charge ever since this announcement of the examination being cancelled came to four and this is what he's reiterating because we do have intel and informationation about how there could be a BJP leader or a cooperator we still are trying to assertain the fact who might have bought the papers from a gurug gang at a hefty sum of more than 30 lak rupees. Michael Anwit with that information. Anit >> well see uh this another statement coming from uh from against the BJP and they're saying that Din Binwal who is who is one of the accused and who has also been arrested. Uh they're saying that his connections with BJP you know clearly speak of some collusion is what the Ashot has been hinting at and he's been saying that why was he not arrested why the matter was not raised by the BJP. Previously Manish Sodi and Armen Kirbar also came out saying that Jenz's will not you know bear this happening and that they will also seek response and answers. Uh all of this is you know kind of politicizing of the subject while at the same time CBI is uh probing and more and more names are coming forward the number of people detained is increasing and arrests have also risen uh since uh last two days. So at the same time when the probe is going on at multiple uh levels and multiple factors are being uh looked at uh whether it is the transactions that have happened the money that has was sent to people uh collecting you know electronic evidence and scientific evidence of exchange of payments uh not just that but also uh people who were in touch with on message on social media and messaging apps they are also their chats are also under scrutiny. At the same time uh the shoe has also been politicized. Congress has come out you know giving statements.
Amarad party has done the same a short while ago. NSUI had been protesting at five ris and previously we have also seen student outfits like NSU yesterday had also protested AB had come out and ISI was also planning a protest tomorrow. So at the same time when this investigation is going on it's a big investigation multiple layered investigation not just one state it's a it spread to many states now because it's a racket that seems to have been uh you know covering multiple areas and multiple people it's chain and trail of people who had been involved so the money flow is one thing that the CBI is currently looking at secondly they're trying to find out from where did this originate like previously Aruma also said that those people who have been arrested seem to be on the periphery of this scam so who are the people where did This you know question paper originates from who are the people behind it who are the orchestrators.
Thirdly one important thing is that to find out that when this paper was circulated people who have exchanged money is this money has this money gone to one single point. So is there one bigger picture to this entire scam that has happened. So all on multiple uh stages this investigation currently going on at the same time we are seeing Congress Amadi party and other parties.
>> Right. So you can see there's a lot of anchor on the ground and that's only fueling the political war of words between the different parties. So these are the updates which are coming in as the fury continues on ground zero when it comes to the the future of over 20 lakh students whose entire lives have been jeopardized by this paper leak.
>> Absolutely. We'll track every detail that is to do with that. But right now we have to take a very short break.
Coming right back on the neat exam cancellation.
ABVP workers are now holding a protest over the paper leak uh outside the NTA office in the Oakla Industrial Estate Area in the National Capital. Heavy security has now been deployed. Uh this is of course uh the BJP aligned students group the ABVP and uh they are of course talking about putting pressure on the NTA as a body and also its head. Uh Abhishek Singh the recent appointee as the DG the IS officer asking for his removal or other heads to role as far as this body is concerned putting pressure on their own government at their center. Anwit is joining us. Anwit tell us more of what's happening there.
Well, we are at the office of NTA which is the main office in Delhi and you can see every members have reached here.
There is students against the NTA.
They're also asking the DG to resign from the post are having failed to fair examination this year again and they've been demanding that the DJ be removed and strong as be taken the probe against the those who are involved be expedited and I think a number of people these are a professor also police which reads that you know the the right of the students need to be respected they're also saying that NPA they haven't expanded as national trauma agency. So these all in the recent leakage of the paper that has happened and number of protest protesters was sitting at a da outside the MTA. The area has been heavily barricaded by the senior official here and the entry has been completely shut allowed to go inside campus where the NTA office is and therefore all the protesters who had been held at the NA they sat here by protesting. spoke to some of them and they said that all of them is that fair and a fair examination must be conducted. Secondly, the court should be expedited and thirdly they're also demanding the removal of the DG of >> so the protesters they're demanding the removal of the DG of the NTA pressure mounting on some sort of action to be seen. It's not just about uh the fact that some accountability has to be accorded but also that the government has to be seen as cracking down on these kinds of leaks that are happening year after year particularly inflicting the neat exam. Uh it happened in 2024 where only a partial re-exam was ordered but this time it has to be redone across the country.
And what more protests are planned today Anid? We are being told that uh not just of course the ABVP the youth congress other bodies have also planned protests throughout the day. Uh so certainly security will have to be deployed at the ent office for the day and maybe for coming days as well.
>> Yes certainly see youth congress has also called in for a protest at five rice where there main offices and we are being told that arrangements have also been made accordingly by the Delhi police in that area. Right now we are in Oakla where you can see the AB student group is also protesting. Uh various protests are planned today and we are also learning that CBI teams have also uh earlier in the day come to the NTA office to seek some records and some information from them. So the probe that has been started can uh you know further proceed in this case. Uh further what we being told is that DG uh uh DG NTA Singh had yesterday said that two things they had made sure uh before reporting the matter to central agencies. One was that the questions that have been circulating whether these questions match with their question paper of the of the exam that was conducted on May 3rd. Secondly, what they had to be sure of that if the paper was available with some people before the day of May 3rd. Now if we talk about the timeline on the third exam was conducted and seventh uh after 4 days NTA received certain input that uh that some people had the paper uh before the exam and it was being circulated on social media and messaging apps. Now uh it was on first that the paper was circulated later it was found and 8th of May NTA had shared the details with the agencies. uh in in next 3 to 2 days some uh people were detained. CBI did its preliminary inquiries and an FIR was registered on May of 12th yesterday and a detailed FIR was registered.
>> Welcome back. We are now getting some breaking news on the broadcast and this is to do with Mullay Singh Yadav's son Pratik Yadav's death mystery. Now we're learning that the postmortem report is suggesting a cardiac arrest that led to the death. The blood clotting part also has been significantly studied and this is a cardiorespiratory collapse that are slated to be the reasons of the death according to this report that has now come out. My colleague Manohan Ry with all of those uh inputs. Man, there were earlier certain conspiracy theories that were doing the rounds because of the bluing of the fingers uh of the body of Pratik Yadav. But uh the fact that he was unfortunately suddenly brought to the hospital because he was feeling unwell and then he was declared brought dead had led to that. But now uh these reports really will bury all of those theories that were doing the rounds because the postmortem is clearly stating a cardiac arrest.
>> Yes, you're right. Now initially there were reports some people said there were bruises on his body and you know the fingernails had turned blue but the uh postmortem report is quite clear. It says that he suffered a cardiorespiratory collapse. There was some blood clotting in his veins and that led to his uh death. It was a cardiac arrest which happened ultimately. So I know the uh postmotum report is quite clear on that ground.
Obviously there are uh there are a few people who are asking for a CBI pro deeper investigation into the whole affair because there were no family members present inside the house. So uh that thing will continue but their postmortem report is quite clear.
>> There were certain suggestions that were made uh by the grieving wife in this case Manohan. Uh right now we are learning that the last rights could possibly be underway. Uh you'd be able to throw more light on that aspect also.
But is this also being made political because there is a rift in the Mulam Singh Yadav family politically speaking with the wife of Pratik Yadav who is with the Bharty Jantaa party and of course the members of the Samamajadi party uh have a completely different political approach.
>> No, there are two things here. First, the last rights is not not being held today. It'll be held tomorrow at around 12:30. So, it has been postponed. It'll be held tomorrow. And the other part that you asked about political rift conspiracies. So you're right. You know there is obviously a rift in the Yadav family. Aaya Yadav chose to join the Biharti Jantaa party. She love left the Yadav clan, the Samuadi party and joined the BJP and was quite vocal in the Barti Jantaa party. At times her statements were seen to be directed against the Yadav family, the Samwadi party top leadership also. So which was a little abrasive which was a little uh off the cuff and you know it was taken u note of but uh right now whatever the conspiracy whatever the circumstances of the death have to do due to personal reasons there is no political >> at the moment we are now learning that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditinad has now arrived at Aparna Yadav's residence and uh these are the visuals of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister that we are putting out for viewers. So he is there to pray his uh tributes to Pratik Yadav who's unfortunately lost his life to the cardiac arrest as has been suggested by the postmortem report. But we would see the high-profile visits that will continue as more and more leaders will come and pay their last respects to Pratik Yadav. This is Yogi Aditinat now visiting the residents of Aperna Yadav for the last respects. And there you can see him paying his tribute to Pratik Manohan.
>> Yes, the chief has just arrived. He's paying his last respects to Pratik Yadav, his wife, his family members.
Obviously, it is a tragic moment. Uh Pratik was only 308 years old and he has small children. So, it is obviously a tragic moment and the chief minister is with the family.
>> Right. Absolutely. And we do see that he is conversing with uh Aperna and the children there playing pay playing paying his tributes to Pratik Yadav. So he's currently at the residence and uh uh he's being uh taken around and he's been spoken to. Uh so that is what is coming to for but about the death particularly man moan considering uh earlier there were reports of how Pratik's driver was rushed to the hospital seeking that medical help and that's when the medical superintendent the the CMO MS of the hospital really reached the residence only then was Pratik brought to the hospital and fortunately was declared brought dead >> see the exact sequence of events has yet to be established. The police will come out with the exact sequence of events.
But yes, you're right in pointing out that you know his body was found in the kitchen collapsed around 4 in the morning, 4:00 a.m. in the morning. So immediately uh they the family the the people who were there in the house they contacted the civil hospital and apparently two doctors or one doctor was sent to the house because you know to take to take the body to take the person there was a task. So they immediately rushed a doctor to the house believing that it could be you know some fainting or some small problem and after they found him to be very serious then he was taken to the civil hospital where he was declared broad at 5:55 a.m. in the morning. So this is the sequence of event that we know right now. Obviously the police will clarify this. There was some uh you're right in pointing out that you know the driver rushed to the hospital to bring the doctor. So that is one point that you're making which you're right and a doctor came to the house also then they decided to take him to the hospital because he was not being able to you know he was not being revived and he was in a very bad shape so then they decided to take him to the hospital >> right uh um we will see these high-profile visits of course to the residents of Pratik Yadav and so far the death mi mystery seems to have been put to rest we are constantly putting out what the postmortem report has found out where it says that this was a cardiac arrest that eventually led to the death of Pratik Yadav. The blood clotting was reported. So this is in fact the cardiorespiratory collapse that is slated to be the reason of death according to the postmortem report that we've managed to access through Manm. Uh Manmoan, how many more people have so far come to the residence to pay homage to Pratik Yadav and the members of the Yadav clan? How many are already present there?
So I couldn't hear your question but I'll try and answer whatever I could understand. It is you know all the VIPs are there. The chief minister Yogi Adnad has arrived. Dimple Ada was there. Akles visited the house and he met the family members and Suresh Kana is a senior minister. He has reached with the chief minister. Vimla Paswan who was newly just sworn in as the as a minister in the yogi cabinet two days back. She's also come to the house. So there is obviously a line of VIPs who are paying their respects to the >> believed >> right. Absolutely. Uh you were mentioning about how the last rides have been postponed to tomorrow. What are the details of the last rides? When and where are they going to take place?
>> So tomorrow at 12:30 it is planned at the Pipra Gart which is in the contonement area close to where the YA family lives. So that is where the last lights are to be held. It was supposed to be held today but because lot many people want to see Prati gather for the last time and other formalities. So it is to be held tomorrow. Now >> why at all did this mysterious aspect get associated to the death of and the unfortunate untimely demise of Pratik Yadav in the first place? Man, why do you think the repotage was always pointing out to these conspiracy theories uh and a possible angle of why this could have been done deliberately?
Why did they started doing the rounds in the first place? Is it only because there were certain markers in this case like the bluing of the fingers and all that were reported or there is more to it?
Very interesting question and you rightly asked there is more to it because you know why why there is more to it because his life and you know his family circumstances were very unique and it was a little you know not normal that way. So Prati Gadav always avoided the spotlight. He was he preferred an anonymous life. He is a bodybuilder though he was the son of a famous and powerful politician. He avoided the spotlight. But his wife Yadav, she was politically ambitious. She was always out there. Uh and apparently Pratik Gadav had posted some uh tweets and Facebook posts uh some months back saying that he things were not right between him and his wife and he had criticized her saying that you know she had created a rift in the family pointing out to the fact that she left the Samwadi party and joined the BJP.
Obviously that created a huge rift within the Yadav family. At least Yadav is the chief of Samwadi party and the younger Bahu chose to leave the Samwadi party and join the arch rival Bharti party. So because of these things and the post uh made by Pratik himself criticizing his wife. So that has led to a lot of speculation whether he was under depression, >> whether he was under intoxication and he also accused his wife of abandoning him, not being there with him during his mental uh disturbances or periods of depression. So obviously that is the reason why there is speculation around the circumstances.
>> It is not it is not really about political conspiracies. It is about the family affair.
>> Okay. And talking about the family of course we have to talk about the half brother Akile Shadavaji party chief man we are told that he himself was present while the postmodm was being conducted and this was done under very very tight security. So he chose to be very much present there. That's what we are bringing for our viewers. Man, we will come back to you in just a bit. We're told that there's some more breaking news on the broadcast. to be quickly cutting across to that as we're learning that the Maharashra chief minister Dendra Fandereves has reacted to the neat paper leak case. He said that the neat paper leak is an extremely serious matter. Our police are fully cooperating with the central bureau of investigation and a detailed investigation will be carried out to reach the root of the case and arrest everyone involved. So this is a big statement coming in from the Maharashtra chief minister because remember Nashik in Maharashtra also is uh very very key that uh is where there are a lot of eyeballs because that's where the paper was printed and that's where the leak also has emerged and one of the first suspects the masterminds allegedly has also been arrested from Maharashtra itself. Let's listen into that reaction of the Maharashtra chief minister CBI CBI police.
Pradhan Mantri.
Let me take this across to my colleague Ana Gupta who's now with us on the broadcast. Ana, that's a very important statement coming in from the state chief minister. He not only is talking about how there will be proper coordination that will be uh done with the central bureau of investigation, any kind of handing of evidence is also going to take place. And then he also suggests that everyone who is possibly involved must be behind bars.
Absolutely. So now uh the chief minister of Maharasha Dendra Fnav has asserted that uh the state the police will fully cooperate uh with the central bureau of investigation because as of now three major links have been found one from Ailia Nagar, one from Pune and one from Nashik. All three are under police custody. He has said that it indeed is a very serious matter and uh the police will cooperate to reach till the very root uh you know whatever uh is you know to what extent this was happening in Maharashtra. He has assured that the police will fully cooperate with the central agencies in this very probe and that whoever is involved will be punished. uh this chief minister has taken a firm stand on this uh very neat uh paper league case which has shaken the students who were appearing which is uh uh affected the parents uh who were uh you know who were involved with the students as well in the in this very exam. Now uh such a statement coming from the chief minister is very important because this will uh yes provide assurance to all the students who were here that yes uh justice will be given uh those who were responsible they will be held the police will cooperate uh fully and whatever evidence is it uh will be cooperated very well with the central agencies who are probing into this very paper league because uh you know one link from Ailia Nagar where it started and then Shubam Kar who allegedly took the paper and then one more woman has has been identified as Manisha Vagmare who allegedly used to identify the students who were appearing for the exam and then connect them to the uh very main accused from Ahila Nagar from where it started in Maharashtra. Now the uh the CBI has also taken transit remand of Shubam Ka the 30-year-old who was arrested the first one from Nashik. is into CBI custody because they did say in court that more links could be identified from Shubam Kar and to what extent was this paper leak you know that happened in Maharashtra how many more people were involved because so far police has detained three people from the state but uh as CBI has taken custody of Shubam Kar and he was produced in a Mumbai court today for transit remand he will be flown to Delhi they said to the court that more important links could come from him. To what extent was this happening? They said this to the court and after that the transit remand of Shubam Kar was provided to the CBI. Now more links whatever could come will be probed from Maharashtra and across the country because allegedly Shoubam Kar was also in touch with people from other states apart from Maharashtra. He was in touch with people from Hana from Rajasthan. So these will prove to be major evidences in this uh very case.
>> An has the chief minister made any mention of the national testing agency because so far all the fingers seem to be pointing at it because this was one nodal agency just was set up to exactly take a look at these breaches in 2017 and it has not been able to cope up with several of these incidents that have happened over the years leading up to now to this cancellation of the examination.
So the chief minister did not mention the NTA specifically but yes he did say that the state will fully cooperate with the central agencies who are indeed uh you know probing into the matter that who was involved from where did the paper leak who are probing uh how did such a major leak happen. Now no mention of the NDA NTA particularly was made but yes he said that the state will fully cooperate the police will fully cooperate with the central agencies who are probing into the matter who are probing into the links who are also investigating whatever links can be found and to uh from where did it originate because the first uh suspect Shubam Kar in Maharashtra uh was uh you know taken in custody by the police first and then he was handed over to the CBI. So yes, no uh no no comments on the NTA so far. But yes, full cooperation has been assured by the chief minister.
>> Full cooperation and he goes on to claim that this is a rather serious matter because the lives of several of those students and their careers are at stake.
We will go into a very short break with that development on the neat exam cancellation.
Uh Abishek saying the recent appointee as the DG the IS officer asking for his removal or other heads to role as far as this body is concerned putting pressure on their own government at their center. Anwit is joining us. Anwit tell us more of what's happening there.
Well, we are at the OKA office of NTA which is the main office in Delhi and you can see every members have reached here. There is students against the NTA.
They're also asking the DG to resign from the post or having failed to conduct the fair examination this again and they've been demanding that the DJ be removed and be taken the probe against the those who are involved expedited and actions be taken a number of people these are a professor also police which reads that you know the uh the right of the students need to be respected they're also saying that NTA they have kind as national trauma agency. So these all indicate there are recent leakage of the paper that has happened in number of protesters was sitting at a da outside the MA. The area has been heavily barricaded by the senior official last year and the entry has been completely shut all the campus where the NTA office is and therefore all the protesters who had been held at the NA they have sat here the protesting we spoke to some of them and they said that their only demand is that fair and a fair examination must be conducted secondly the pro should be expedited and thirdly they're also demanding the removal of the DG So the protesters they're demanding the removal of the DG of the NTA pressure mounting on some sort of action to be seen. It's not just about uh the fact that some accountability has to be accorded but also that the government has to be seen as cracking down on these kinds of leaks that are happening year after year particularly inflicting the neat exam. uh it happened in 2024 where only a partial re-exam was ordered but this time it has to be redone across the country and what more protests are planned today Anvid we are being told that uh not just of course the ABVP the youth congress other bodies have also planned protests throughout the day uh so certainly security will have to be deployed at the ent office for the day and maybe for come coming days as well.
Yes, certainly see youth congress has also called in for a protest at five rice in a mark where they're off main and we are being told that arrangements have also been made accordingly by the Delhi police in that area. Right now we are in Oakla where you can see the AB student group is also protesting. Uh various protests are planned today and we are also learning that CBI teams have also earlier in the day come to the NTA office to seek some records and some information from them. So the probe that has been started can uh you know further proceed in this case. Uh further what we being told is that DG uh uh DG NTA Singh had yesterday said that two things they had made sure before reporting the matter to central agencies. One was that the questions that have been circulating whether these questions match with their question paper of the of the exam that was conducted on May 3rd. Secondly what they had to be sure of that if the paper was available with some people before the day of May 3rd. Now if you talk about the timeline on the third exam was conducted and seventh uh after 4 days NTA received certain input that uh that some people had the paper uh before the exam and it was being circulated on social media and messaging apps.

We have news unfortunate ones coming in over the cancellation of the neat UG exam. Unfortunately uh one neat aspirant has now died by suicide. This has come to the for this case from Goa. We're learning that uh the student was from Mangalore as was at his residence in Goa and has now died by suicide. The 17year-old neat aspirant this after the exam was cancelled over paper leak concerns.
>> Yes now joins us getting us more details on this front. Yes, what more can you share with us? what are the details of this case?
>> Uh so yes when we speak of the information coming in right now from Goa 17year-old neat Aspirant who was based out of Marggo uh in fact allegedly died by uh suicide after the neat paper was cancelled. What's important uh to note is that there's preliminary information that has come in uh from the police sources so far who said that this very uh student was in fact a resident of Mangaluri uh who was was in Goa for for some time was studying there but you know after the very after this very neat examination uh you know paper leak uh broke off and he was upset over it and that's where you know he uh you know he took his life. Of course preliminary information coming in so far. We've of course seen quite a lot of students who were to appear for neat examination lately have been upset over it. In fact questioning how time and again such incidents are being reported wherein um wherein there's a paper league that takes place you know just ahead of neat examination because this is not the first such instance you know where where the need exam has been pushed because of paper leak. In fact, we've seen that just just a couple of uh uh just uh you know a couple of years back also simulations had been reporting which is where what's important is that is that this has in fact caused a lot of trouble between the students who were to appear for need examination which is where first such instances of uh first instance of a student uh you know taking his life by committing suicide have been reported from Goa. We have to wait to get more details from the Goa police because they as of now just shared preliminary information about the fact that the student was 17year-old based from Bangalore was upset with the ne exam pass that had taken place. Yes.
>> Right. Yes. Thank you so much for getting us the latest on that front.
Unfortunate news there coming in this even as the investigation in this case is continuing so far. Uh several arrests have been made. uh the links are across the country which is what uh the investigating agency now the CBI is looking at but the uproar is only escalating we're also learning that ABVP was holding protests uh over the neat paper leak and the cancellation of the exam that's the latest that we are gathering protests as you see on your screens have been continuing for over two days now across different parts of the country now uh these protests are coming in from the ABVP as well ABVP The activists hitting the streets out in protest demanding accountability and action.
There's heavy security that's deployed outside the NTA office. The national testing agency remember had said that the best that they could do was uh to cancel this exam and that decision was taken in uh the benefit of the students so that not any deserving undeserving student uh passed over because of the paper leak but that has now triggered massive uproar. There are protests that have taken place out on the streets of the national capital including outside the national testing ay's office. These dramatic scenes that you see on your screens are from outside that NTA office. Here in New Delhi, ABVP activists too now are hitting the streets in protest. We had seen these student protests across the country over the last 24 hours.
Remember the investigation in this particular case has been escalating. It was the Rajasthan police's special operations group that was initially looking at this investigation. The CBI has taken over now and FIR was registered by the CBI as well yesterday.
So far, nine people have been arrested in this particular case.
The mastermind is believed to be uh at least at the moment is believed to be someone who has been arrested from uh Maharashtra. Though the CBI is also looking at an angle and the angle of investigation that perhaps there is an insider role that could be looked at as well. Did the leak come in from inside the National Testing Agency? That's another uh angle of investigation that the CBI seems to be looking at.
and dramatic ones are that that you see outside uh the NTA office uh protest there erupting. Unfortunately though, politics has continued on the sidelines as well. Abadmi party leaders like Manisha Sodia, Man Arvin Khal have all come out and warned of Jenzi protests like we saw in Nepal and in Bangladesh.
this even as uh students are frustrated and hitting the streets in protest against uh this particular cancellation of the paper. Remember the paper that uh has now been cancelled was the one that was appeared for on the 3rd of May.
Reports suggest an investigation is revealing that for days before that particular uh exam, this guest paper was being circulated via WhatsApp and Telegram. The price tag on it went upwards of five lakhs in some cases. All of which is now under investigation of the CBI.
Yes now joins us getting us more details. Yasha, can you tell us more details about what exactly is the investigation front as far as the Maharashtra link to this entire case goes?
>> Absolutely. In fact, you know, when you speak of Maharashtra, so far there have been uh three places where CBI has in fact uh has in fact detained or arrested people. Uh the first arrest in fact came in from Nasi wherein one Shubam Kar was uh was detained by CBI yesterday uh eventually arrested and then has been produced before uh the killer court today. He's been in fact sent to two days of transit where CBI would take him back to Delhi and questioning would take place there. Now in the link of Shubam Kar there are further details that have come in with links to Pune as well as to Ailia and Nagar that have been established wherein um it has been said that this Shukam Kar had taken this very paper the exam paper from Ailia where one of the accused has been detained there as well. Eventually the paper was then taken from there to Pune wherein another person a female has has been detained by CBI from uh from Pune and eventually bought to uh eventually bought that paper to Nasi. So far the investigation as far as details from sources are concerned have confirmed that there was no paper that was distributed at Nasi but the paper distribution took place at Pune as well as at um at Ailia Nagar as well. Uh in fact it's been it's also been alleged that the the main accuse in this case the person based from Aelia Nagar had in fact been the one who had gotten the paper in his hands and had passed it on to Shubam Kerala. So as a as the whole timeline as it goes clearly uh details have have evolved speaking about the fact that Shankar was just carrying the examination paper all the way across different parts of of state and which is where all the links which have been established in the investigation with Shankar are now are also now being questioned in that perspective you know so far we have to wait to understand if the two accused alleged accused from a nagar and pune are they also going to be arrested by CBI Because clearly so far Shukam Krum has clearly been arrested and when it comes to the two accused from from Pune Aar they've been detained if to be arrested it be producal again tomorrow and then following which the CBI would then cross question all the three accused together was to understand uh the whole nexus that was running in Maharasha. But from Rah there are several other states where uh where the paper leak has been reported. But uh but as of now you know when we speak of this details coming in of course you know this this bit of investigation has come from from Maharashtra but the other states is also where the CBI is conducting their investigation and uh and trying to understand uh the the magnitude of the paper leak. Yes.
>> Yeah. Stay on with us. We are getting more information that's now coming in and this is to do with the investigation that the CBI is now handling. We're learning that multiple angles of investigation are being looked at. Uh where the leak originated from is what is under investigation now and whether there was an inside hand that's something that the CBI also seems to be looking at. A possibility of leak of question paper from the printing press from the exam center. Uh that is also being investigated. Like I said at the moment uh the CBI just took over the investigation yesterday. Multiple angles are being looked into by the investigating agency.
CBI says they're not ruling out leak from any other uh from any sources at the moment. Where uh this leak came from is something that is being investigated by the CBI. Remember it was Rajasthan police SOG the special operations group that was looking at this investigation.
It was handed over to the CBI by the NTA just yesterday after which the CBI filed an FIR in this case and then began its investigation. Anit now joins us getting us more details on this front. Anwit, what more can you share with us?
Well, see so far what CBS Joseph have confirmed that there is also unlikely a possibility of an organized gang behind it also because the models of pandai they have said that appears to be different this time from what it was in 2024. uh they've also come out and said that uh a possibility of leak from the NTA itself is also unlikely and uh uh from the uh is also not ruled out and from the printing press also is unlikely but because this is initial stage and the probe is in its nent stage all the people who have been questioned uh their statements are being recorded and then scientific evidence is being collected to corroborate them. So so far a number of people have been questioned their statements have all been recorded.
Police are also trying to set a complete chain of events as to from when the paper was leaked, when did it appear first, when did the contact from Nashik came in touch with the contact in seeker and then how did the paper reach Hana and this entire chain of event that has happened they're trying to rope in in a sequence which will help them to identify which was the place where it has first emerged because so far all the people who have been named and who have been detained and arrested they all on the periphery of the scam. the person who could be the center stage with the person who could be the possible orchestrator they are yet to reach out to him. So all the efforts are being made to zero in on that one person for that money trail is also being looked into all the money that was uh that were used to buy the paper and then further sell it off. So where did the money go?
Who are the people involved? So all those technical aspects are being looked into. Phone records of the people detained and arrested are also be have been taken and they have also been sent for uh detailed inspection in FSL. So right now CBI is saying that they're not ruling out any possibility of the leakage from NTA but they're saying that modus operai that of 26 26 leak and that of the 2024 are not similar. So there could be a different mod of and different people of set of people this time who are completely responsible for this leakage.
>> Right. Thank you so much for getting us the latest on that front.
Well, we're shifting focus now to the appeal that has been made by Prime Minister Modi and taking cue from him several other chief ministers of multiple states across the country. A common man appeal that has been made for everyone to spend wisely. Remember, Prime Minister Modi made an appeal for fuel conservation and for measures to save and spend wisely amid global uncertainty. BJP rule states have now begun implementing those measures. BJP chief ministers have announced steps that are aimed at reducing fuel consumption and government expenditure.
This is in line with cent's push for economic caution. States like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan are all implementing these measures including reduced use of official convoys also promotion of public transport. Meanwhile, Maharashtra has joined the austerity push introducing stricter travel rules for ministers. Under the new directive, ministers in Maharashtra will now require prior approval for Chief Minister Fnavis before using the state aircraft for any official travel. The move is aimed at curbing unnecessary fuel usage and prompting administrative efficiency.
>> The prime minister has reduced the number of vehicles in his cabal cave.
The central government officials and ministers are also taking the required austerity measures. The question is that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party why are they silent and why have they not followed action in places where there is Congress government. This further proves the point that the Congress party believes in politics not national interest. This is why whether it is Himachal Pradesh where the Congress party increased the prices of the petrol and diesel in the past or whether it is the Karnataka and Telangana Congress government all of them are looking at politicking not nations interest. This is why Rahul Gandhi in the mind of the people of the country is considered not as a pro-India politician but as an opportunist anti-India politician.
Well, after Prime Minister Modi's appeal, Finance Minister Andala Sithar Raman's Russia visit has now also been cancelled. That's the latest that we're gathering. Remember earlier it was uh ministers in Gujarat that had canceled their visits abroad over these measures and appeals that the central government had asked states to follow. Now we're learning that finance minister Nirmalas Taran who was expected to be on a trip to Russia has canled her visit on that front. Palvi now joins us getting us more details. Palvi what more can you share with us?
Very much in sync in sync with what the prime minister has been saying. The prime minister has made the word that let's cut down all unnecessary foreign travel and he expected us to follow that then naturally the government is also setting that example. So any foreign trips or even domestic trips by ministers by big bureaucrats all of that has now been curtailed because they feel that if you can have these meetings through the VC or through Zoom then why not uh you know at pricing prices the dirt of uh fuel across the world and the rising import duties is something which is concerning the government and therefore the first big step and I'm told that there are more to come more such foreign trips more such domestic trips of ministers and top-notch to be official are all going to be put on hold.
>> So there are multiple other meetings that could also be put on hold. Uh this comes at a time when the prime minister is leading uh by example is what we're learning. But there is a certain narrative that seems to be uh going around and that's something that the government has also clarified on. Pali stay on with us because uh this is the piece of information that we want to bring to our viewers where uh sources within the government have told us that it's not about cutting capital expenditure or welfare spending or subsidies. The appeal that came in from the prime minister is not necessarily about cost cutting but about spending wisely. Is that correct Pali?
>> Government is not wanting to use. What the government is saying is that first of all austerity implies a monetary crisis. There is no such monetary crisis. It's an impending fuel crisis which can take place in future because as of now we are fine. We're looking for alternative sourcing whether it's ethanol and we saw that coal gasification today but also we have stocks which are available with us for 60 days and 49 days and we have also alternative roots. What we are trying to do is being judicious being very very clear about how much of these resources we are going to use where they are going to be used and therefore he's appealing to the people that let's think ahead in future so that we are taken care of conservation not emerging out of any crisis conservation to avert any crisis in future right Pali stay on with us aman joins us as well getting us some more perspective on this and Aman as far as the prime minister's appeal is concerned we've seen the kind of reactions that have come in from the opposition which is why these kind of clarifications are also coming in periodically from the government that it's not an alarm or panic situation but we have to tread cautiously.
>> Well Puram the essence of the prime minister's appeal is not to spend less.
The government doesn't want citizens to spend less maybe spend a bit more wisely. That is the essence of the prime minister's words. The prime minister essentially saying that things like fuel consumption you know in which we are dependent on foreign countries for oil or be it foreign intensive you know imports which happen like gold like foreign travel with which our foreign exchange goes out that the people should curb because this is a crisis in which India does not want to you know come down on its current account deficit suffer on that effect that is why people are being told to spend wisely not to spend less. The government of course wants people to spend, wants people to consume because that is very important for the country's economic growth as well. At the same time, the government is not not cutting down on any subsidies, any welfare programs. You know, the government continues to do in fact a lot of capex expenditure which is also very essential for the country's growth and the government is not planning any cut in the capex expenditure. So essentially the appeal is limited to the foreign intensive services be it petrol and diesel reduce its consumption. And that is why the government is leading by example. You see the prime minister cutting his convoy to just two cards. You saw the home minister cutting his convoy. All the chief ministers of the BJP ruled states have followed suit. Harangi the deputy chief minister of Gujarat has canled his trip to the US. We now hearing the finance minister has also canled her foreign trip. So essentially the mood is that that you need to save money which goes otherwise goes out of the country on account of foreign exchange. But don't stop spending only spend more wisely. That is the government's essence behind this entire campaign. Palv do stay on with us. Even as the government is coming out with these clarifications, there are several state governments especially uh BJP rule states, NDA states that have come out and decided to put forth these measures to take queue from the prime minister.
One of those first states is Uttar Pradesh that we want to talk about.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanat has ordered 50% reduction in his official fleet. The convoy uh that travels with Yogiad has been reduced. The same has been done for Delhi as well. In fact, the chief minister of Delhi Raika Gupta has called for public transport use for car pooling as well. Uh official vehicles and that fleet is going to be reduced for her as the chief minister and for the ministers in Delhi as well.
Now cut across to Madhya Pradesh where the chief minister Moany Yadav has urged people to use less petrol and diesel.
His convoy size two has been reduced down from 13 vehicles to eight vehicles.
That is what has come down to. uh in Maharashtra again chief minister Dendra Parnavis has tightened travel rules. So if ministers who want to travel abroad will now need approval from the chief minister himself for the aircraft to use for the use of the state aircraft. All of meetings which can be done online have to be shifted. That's a decision that has come in from the Maharashtra chief minister. Non-essential air travel is completely closed for ministers and their staff. In Rajasthan, Bajal Sharma, the chief minister, has directed minimization of convoy vehicle use. He has also gone on to advise his officials, bureaucrats and public representatives to avoid unnecessary use of vehicles while they are traveling. In Andhra Pradesh again, Chief Minister Chandra Naidu has issued uh an advisory and urged people to follow what the prime minister said to look at what the seven-point advisory of the prime minister was and try and follow that as ministers across different states in the countries are also doing. Palvi and Aman continue to be with us and Ammon several of these states have implemented these measures. Most of them are NDA ruled BJP ruled states. Can we expect any of it from opposition rule states though because that's going to be important.
>> Well, that is what the government would expect surely. I know we saw Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Pman in the capital today when he met agriculture minister Shivra Singh Chawan as well as Nitan Gutkar and he came in an 1819 vehicle convoy. So certainly you know the government the center is appealing to all states and have to reduce this because it's unnecessary and you know when the politicians you know Punam are telling common people to reduce full consumption and if they don't reduce their own convoys you know the questions are always asked that you need to practice what you preach and I think the prime minister is leading the way by traveling inside Lutian's Delhi in just two cars and Amit Sha has also more than halfed his convoy as well. So I think the that they appeal to all the politicians know this is not about BJP rule or opposition rule. The prime minister is telling people and everybody in the political class to cut down on fuel expenditure because fuel is something because we are importing it and we are paying in foreign exchange that is directly hurting the country's current account deficit. Same goes for imported goods uh and same goes for gold. So that is the three areas where the prime minister specifically asked people and his fellow politicians to save uh in not generally in every aspect. People are free to spend. As I said he the government wants people to spend wants consumption to be high because that helps grow our economy as well. But these three areas where where we are dependent on foreign countries and our imports in a big way. The prime minister is appealing to people to cut down on these three aspects because of the crisis which is brewing in West Asia.
>> Right Pali uh there's another aspect as far as the prime minister's appeal goes.
Even though we see states now following suit but there is some amount of panic and alarm that seems to have tri been triggered especially within the industry especially within certain sectors of the industry. Is the government looking at maybe holding consultations or meetings to try and allay those fears?
>> The government I think has been trying to send out this message from day one that you know even on the cases of gold when the jewelers association they got very alarmed what could happen to our sales. The government clarified then also and we had reported it that we are not saying that all gold purchases should be stopped. What we are saying is non-essential gold when you don't need it. If there's no wedding around the corner, if there's no other auspicious occasion around the corner, you don't need to go and buy gold just for the heck of it. Similarly, the creates a fuel. For example, if there's a wedding in your family, instead of having 10, 10, 20, 20 cars at your disposal and you can make do with five cars, why not?
Within the family, there can be a certain sense of car pooling. Government is aware that there could be an attempt at panic buying hoarding which is why that press conference was held at the interministerial press conference and repeatedly all the secretaries made it very clear we have enough oil at the CI with it Mr. to use oil or Hard Singh Puri all of them said that we have sufficient oil crude oil gas it's just that we want to ensure that in future we don't face any shortage or rationing so the government is even not wanting to reuse of word austerity forget mini lockdown or lockdown they're giving examples with other countries Pakistan Cuba Peru Sri Lanka who actually had to cut down there are alternate days where cars are going schools are being shut down university are also cut down we are not doing any of that because we need to be judicial and also ensure that's why the government will never ever use the word of austerity measure or uh you know in terms of uh a billy lockdown.
>> So why is it that we seeing the prime minister talk about not traveling abroad or not buying gold for a year essential non-essential gold for a year. The reason for that is to try and ensure that our forex outflow is restricted.
Why is it that the prime minister is appealing for that? Why is the central government looking for cutting down on this forex outflow? One of the reasons is to preserve reserves. Now, maintaining dollar reserves is extremely important for essential exports, for essential imports, I beg you pardon, for debt servicing, for rupee defenses as well, which is why the government is asking for uh these forex reserves to be maintained. Also, the rupee foreign outflows helps currency rupee depreciation. As far as the rupee is concerned, we've seen that it hit its lowest ever to the dollar in history today at about 95. Imported uh inflation is something that also is being looked at, which is why the government is wanting for this particular uh uh outflow to not be as high as it used to be. Another reason why the government is making this push is for promoting a trade and expanding rupee based trade.
What that does is that reduces dependence on the US dollar which means that as far as a depreciating Indian rupee is concerned when it compares to the dollar that is something that India can try and mitigate. Self-reliance or atmana is also something that the prime minister is pushing for. Local for local aims to cut imports. It strengthens domestic industry which is why the prime minister said that we should buy locally. We should travel locally rather than traveling abroad. Another reason why the government is making this push is for strategic freedom. Less dollar dependence reduces exposure to sanctions to global shocks to uh decisions uh driven by other countries like the American tariffs. That is something that also is being stressed on during this uh time of crisis by the prime minister that this should be used as a lesson to ensure that our dependence on other countries on other currencies on other outstanding factors is reduced. That is what the government is aiming to do with these kind of appeals and measures that they are putting out.
What comes next? Are there any more measures that the government could put in place? We don't know just yet. We will though keep a track of what transpires as uh India, as the government and common citizens of this country try and deal with these uh crisis that we're seeing unfold in West Asia. We'll get you more details of that and everything else here on CNN News8.
For now though, a quick break.
on the neat exam cancellation.
Uh Abishek Singh the recent appointee as the DG the I officer asking for his removal or other heads to role as far as this body is concerned putting pressure on their own government at their center. Anwit is joining us.
Anwit tell us more of what's happening there.
Well, we are at the office of NTA which is the main office in Delhi and you can see members have reached here. There is students against the NTA. They're also asking the BG to resign from the post are having failed to conduct the fair examination this year again and they've been demanding that the DJ be removed and be taken the probe against the those who are involved expedited and action a number of people these are a professor also police which reads that you know the the right of the students need to be respected they're also saying that NTA they as national trauma agency. So these all the recent leaks of the paper that has happened and number of protesters was sitting at a da outside the MTA. The area has been heavily barricaded by the senior official last year and entry has been completely shut allowed to go inside campus where the NTA office is and therefore all the protesters who had been held at the NA they have sat here.
They're protesting. We spoke to some of them and they said that their only demand is that fair and a fair examination must be conducted. Secondly, the court should be expedited and thirdly they're also demanding the removal of the DG of >> so the protesters they're demanding the removal of the DG of the NTA pressure mounting on some sort of action to be seen. It's not just about uh the fact that some accountability has to be accorded but also that the government has to be seen as cracking down on these kinds of leaks that are happening year after year particularly inflicting the neat exam. uh it happened in 2024 where only a partial re-exam was ordered but this time it has to be redone across the country and what more protests are planned today Anvid we are being told that uh not just of course the ABVP the youth congress other bodies have also planned protests throughout the day uh so certainly security will have to be deployed at the ent office for the day and maybe for come coming days as well >> yes certainly see youth congress will also called in for a protest at 5 rice in a mark where they're off main office and we are being told that arrangements have also been made accordingly by the Delhi police in that area. Right now we are in Oakla where you can see the AB student group is also protesting. Uh various protests are planned today and we are also learning that CBI teams have also earlier in the day come to the NTA office to seek some records and some information from them. So the probe that has been started can uh you know further proceed in this case. Now if you talk about the timeline on the third exam was conducted and seventh uh after 4 days NTA received certain input that uh that some people had the paper uh before the exam and it was being circulated on social media and messaging apps. Now uh it was on first that the paper was circulated later it was found and 8th of May NTA had shared the details with the agencies. uh in in next 3 to 2 days some uh people were detained. CBI did its preliminary inquiries and an FIR was registered on May of 12th yesterday and a detailed FIR was registered uh which includes section of cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft and destruction of evidence under BNS. Also offenses under prevention of corruption act and offense under public examination prevention of unfair means act 2024 have been added in this. So stringent FIR has been registered. Further probe is going on.
We are being told that custody of those who have been arrested have been taken uh by the uh CBI and further investigations are now being conducted.
>> So Anid can you just bring us some voices of these ABVP workers, students, group body, what are they demanding exactly? I can see in some visuals at least as far as many protests that have government medical colleges.
Welcome back. You're watching the nation at 5 with me. We're now getting some breaking news on the broadcast and this is in connection with the neat paper case. Now the CBI has taken several suspects into custody for questioning from various locations across Aelia Nagar and interrogation of the detained suspects is currently underway at Aelyanagar superintendent of police's office where all sources are also suggesting that Dhanjay Lokhande is also being questioned along with other detained suspects. All of these details and fresh updates coming in even as the CBI is looking at the case. Taking several of these suspects into custody for questioning from various locations in Maharashtra's Ailia Nagar.
Interrogation too we are learning is currently underway at the superintendent of police's office in Ailia Nagar and there is one particular name that is now doing the rounds that is of Dhanjay Loande who is being questioned along with the other detainees in this case.
So several in the CBI custody at the moment even as these protests continue from various parts of the country. This is a multi-ity probe that's been launched now by the CBI ever since the Ministry of Higher Education made that announcement that it is now the central agency that is going to be looking at this paper leak. Where at all has this leak really emerged from? Who is to blame? Who should be held accountable?
All of those key questions will now be answered as the CBI pieces together whatever it has so far managed to get out of the investigation it has started to conduct since yesterday. My colleague Yesha with this latest piece of information. Yesha Ailyanagar is where all of these suspects have been assembled at interrogation you tell us is going on. Dhanjay Lokand uh who is this person? How is he key to this puzzle that the CBI is trying to piece together?
>> When we speak of Dan Lokhande, what's important to note is that CBI yesterday arrested Shubam Kar from Nasi. Now this very person Shubam kar has been produced before the Mumbai court and he's been taken on a transit to Delhi because he was the one from the neper was found at Napik. Now cops then tried to uh and the agency sources the CB sources then tried to piece together evidences to understand where did this paper league really emanate from in Maharashtra on having investigated Shoubam Ka they eventually found out that this very person called Nanj Lukhande was the one from whom Shubam kar secured the paper on having secured that very paper he then took that paper all the way to Pune and then eventually to Nasi in fact sources have indicated there was no paper distribution that took place at Nasi but the paper distribution took place at aar as well as at Pune in fact it was Dan Lande who had that neat copy neat papers copy so which is where what's important now is that agencies are trying to understand where did Daran Land really get this examination paper from in fact proven speaker of this very examination paper that Daranj found from there are several other people who are also being questioned parally so as to understand and piece together information about the actual paper leaked the the main source of where the paper leak took took place and because uh Shup Karna the accused who's been arrested from Nasi also went to Pune a person a female accused alleged accused is also being questioned at Pune so as to understand her so here clearly when it comes to all of these people they're all being questioned in fact apart from the there are apart from several people who are currently in the cy of CBI who are being questioned cops are also questioning Dan and which is where all of this information would be crucial to understand the whole ne paper league that took place in Maharashtra and which is where which is where Kar role had become important because he was the first accused arrested from Maharashtra but apart from that now whether Danjaland was the main accused from Maharashtra there are several other accused is something that will only be listed for from the questioning of Danjaland and several other accused who are currently in who are currently at level being questioned uh by uh the u the agencies there. Yes.
>> Right. Uh so far all of the details that have emerged are these various people who have now been handled over to the CBI. These are uh the other set of individuals who have now been napped by the central bureau of investigation. But the first three who were nabbed by the Rajasthan SOG, they were eventually given the custody of to the CBI adding the number to the nine already who had been arrested early on. What has come out from their questioning? Yes, any details that have so far managed to come out in the public domain.
>> So you know when we speak to these accused who've been arrested from uh from several parts. What's uh what's also important is that they've been arrested from different parts of the city from different parts of the country. Uh they their brother has been taken they'll then be taken uh to Delhi where the further questioning will take place. So which is where now you know we have to wait to understand once a proper custody of all of these accused has been taken because preliminarily some of the points that that the C would try to understand is from where did the paper leak really take place? Was there an incident that was involved? How did the paper take place and you know what was it how how was it that these people were in fact reaching out to other aspirants or students whom this paper was supposed to reach to. So all these are important aspects of investigation that the CBI is currently speaking about with those who are who have been detained by them at several locations.
>> All right, thank you so much for all of those details and uh with that we are shifting our focus. We are now cutting across to the US President Donald Trump.
His flight, Air Force One, we are told, has landed in Beijing in China. And remember, this is a decade later. Trump has returned to a stronger and more assertive China.
>> I was told that President Trump was still looking for a diplomatic off-ramp.
Now, of course, that comes before the latest response that the US got from Iran, which President Trump said that he was disappointed. He was dissatisfied.
He said he stopped reading it at at parts cuz it just wasn't even remotely what he wanted. Now, of course, we know uh behind the scenes he has been increasingly frustrated considering more seriously resuming combat operations. Uh but I think what was really clear in the last gaggle that we saw him in, which was that departure, is that he was growing increasingly frustrated publicly as well. And President Trump, one thing that he is very good at is spinning a narrative, turning uh one small thing into an entire narrative around what he is doing in the White House. But it has been increasingly harder for him to do so. when we're seeing Iran not come to the table with a deal, when you're seeing those inflation numbers, when you're seeing how dissatisfied Americans are with the economy, and I'll remind you, John, one of the reasons that President Trump was able to win in 2024 was he and his team tapped into something that the Democrats were not tapping into, which was it wasn't necessarily about politics. It was all about the economy and how people were feeling. So, they're keenly aware that right now people are not feeling good.
and comments like President Trump's don't help even if they are supposed to be in the context of not wanting Iran to have a nuclear weapon. All of this, of course, it goes back to the idea that everyday Americans are not thinking about Iran when they wake up. They're thinking about their financial situation. And of course, you have the president coming out and saying he's not thinking about them. He's thinking about Iran, which is not good for midterms, not good for Republicans who are running, who are trying to tell Americans that things are going to be back to normal soon. Uh when you have a president saying he's not even thinking about that aspect of all of this.
as uh we the wait continues and the watch continues on the now open door of Air Force One. Uh everyone standing by in Beijing as you see right there for the president to come out of the plane at some point and we are watching it here with you as we continue the watch and wait Kristen with the eye on the on Air Force One. Um the unknowns and kind of the uh if you will the unscripted moments are always something that uh is what makes news especially when it comes to President Trump. What is known? Give us a quick rundown of what is known in terms of the schedule for this important uh and very high stakes visit.
>> Yeah. So this this tonight is just the beginning of the trip. Again, this is going to be him showing up. It is. I'm going to actually look down. It's 8:00 p.m. here. So, he is going to go into the hotel. It's not going to be long.
Oh, and here he is. He comes out.
>> And this does look like a large Okay, this looks like a larger crowd than what I saw from 2017 for his arrival. And again, look, President Xi knows what President Trump wants. He knows that he wants a show. He know and he is getting one. I mean, you can see right there the the coordination with the flag. It's not just 300 Chinese youths. They have a coordin coordinated uh flag movement with >> and in this moment. Let's just pause.
Let's just listen in and everyone take in this moment.
Heat up here.
Heat. Heat.
Get ready.
FIRE WHALE.
OVER THERE TO THE RIGHT. GO TO THE RIGHT. GO.
>> MOVE IT. MOVE IT.
SO, WHO YOU'RE seeing there in addition to President Trump uh is of course Eric Trump, his son Laura Trump, daughter-in-law, but Elon Musk directly behind Laura Trump. Also there, Jensen Wong, CEO of Nvidia there. Um, of course, tech leaders will be part of this trip. Wong and Musk were the only two who flew on Air Force One. Wong actually met the flight in Anchorage, Alaska for the last leg. There had been some kurfuffle about whether he was invited or not. President Trump clearly wanted to make a show of it. But you can see the the ebulent greeting there. The people though that the president wants to focus on are the White House, >> Eric Trump, Laura Trump, Elon Musk, and the CEO of Nvidia, which is pretty interesting.
>> It is interesting. It's also just interesting to see the pomp and circumstance because as we have been talking the president really stood there for a second and took it all in because he likes the bigger the better and China rolling out the red carpet literally for him as well. Uh Kristen as you're watching this what are you seeing because of course having those folks there along with the president on Air Force One uh who are at the top of the industry for example in tech um you know when you see that what what does this mean? What is he hoping to get out of it when it comes to the business side of things and obviously in a pitch to to help American business?
>> Yeah. And Sarah, I wouldn't rule out the fact that Eric Trump is not just President Trump's son. He runs Trump Or.
And we know that Trump Or has been doing business deals all around the world while President Trump has been in office. So, I think it's likely that there might be conversations about Trump Or as well as these other tech companies that you just noted. Obviously, there has been a heightened tension between China and the US when it comes to tech.
The competition has grown greater and greater even since President Trump was here last in 2017. And so, he brought two heads of the industry to bring with him almost as backup. Uh that having two of the smartest and wealthiest and most successful CEOs in the field is going to be enticing to any world leader. We know that from even when President Trump used to travel with Elon Musk at the beginning of his tenure. He was a draw for world leaders. Uh so we expect some private sector deals to likely come through as well. We know that those are already uh having some preliminary conversations about that. We also obviously saw that President Trump did the same thing on his trip to the Gulf countries uh his first trip where he had CEOs with him and he came out of there with several private sector deals. Then of course there's going to be likely conversations about the US restrictions on Chinese tech. So these are two leaders who might be part of those conversations. Now I do also want to note that in addition to who we saw get in the front car there. We also saw Marco Rubio and Pete Haggath, Secretary of Defense kind of come out and slowly go to the back to get into another car.
It is very notable that Pete Haggath is on this trip. I mean, this is not really a trip in which the Secretary of Defense would normally go, but it gives you an idea of just how important the war in Iran is right now and how much this is looming over this that the Secretary of Defense has also come on this trip and apparently flown on Air Force One, which by the way, that's not how this usually works. They have their own plane. They usually fly in the doomsday plane alongside uh Air Force One, so they have their own plane. But this clearly goes to what President Trump said out loud when he was leaving. We're going to be having conversations about potentially what we do next in Iran on the flight on the way there as well.
>> Uh I'm sorry. Go.
>> No, I was just going to add um thank you to the control room for helping, but we're told that the the chant from the crowd then the the youth and everyone in Welcome.
>> I had done the translation myself.
Apologies, >> but thank you for the control room for confirming that. Alice, very quickly to you. When the Chinese leadership sees Eric Trump, Laura Trump, of course, Eric Trump who runs the Trump organization, the companies there, uh, and Elon Musk and the head of Nvidia, what do they think?
>> Well, I think it's very clear the messaging that is being delivered to the Chinese from the Americans is that we're open for business. The fact that he is bringing two of the major business leaders who tend to be favorable to China that is Elon Musk and Jensen Huang as well as his key family members suggests that they they are willing to do some kind of business deal. Now it remains to be seen what gets announced but my own sense is that there will be some kind of announcement of purchases of Boeing aircraft. The CEO of Boeing is there in the delegation. There might even be some discussion of finally letting in the H200s from Nvidia which have uh still been blocked by the Chinese side even though they were approved late last year by the Americans. So I think a lot is on the table from chips to EVs uh to Boeing aircraft and I think very much that the signal is we're open to do business with the Chinese.
>> All right, thank you so much Kristen Holmes standing by for us over there as this trip as this summit begins. Thank you as well. keep us posted as to all these developments uh as we watch the president move on to the next stage of this trip. With us now is Congresswoman Maline Dean, a Democrat from Pennsylvania. She is on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Congresswoman, thank you so much for being with us. You know, we did not hear from the president either on the flight at all or as he was deplaning. The last we really heard from the president was when he was leaving the White House yesterday. And of course, the idea that Iran will come up in this summit is very much front and center. But the president was asked essentially when dealing with Iran and the negotiations, how much
