Open the windows! North winds cooling off Indiana, clearing out the smoke, and eliminating humidity
Added:Thank you, Eli.
>> Your time is 4:18. They're heading up to Canada just as we are starting to get all of the Canadian smoke and all of that out of our area a little bit.
>> hope so at least, but we're also cooling off just a little bit. I think I I saw you talking yesterday about maybe it's opening those windows kind of a day to get the stale air out.
>> Yep, we're issuing an open window alert for the next couple of days. Maybe your AC will get a break. You may still want the AC in the middle of the day, but in these nights as we're dropping down to 50s and 60s, in the words of produce coach it's going to blow your mind over the next couple of days. Cuz number one, we are cooler, but number two, we have pushed the humidity and both the smoke out. I mean, it's as if it's a completely different day. I mean, it is Wednesday. It's different than Tuesday.
But I'll tell you what, the weather has changed drastically as a pretty decent front for July standards, remember.
We're not talking about January fronts here, but this front has cleared us out.
It is a stunning start out there this morning. It feels great. If you haven't stepped outside yet, grab your coffee, just poke your head out for a second cuz we're in the 60s this morning across much of central Indiana. Still 70 in Indy, but we're not going to stay there.
We're continuing to drop out there this morning. In fact, over the past 2 hours we've already dropped 5° in Indy, so we've got some room to go down. Right now, we're mainly clear other than some high clouds passing on by and I'm not sure if we'll be completely clear all day. We'll have some clouds at times, but partly cloudy weather, can't beat it. There's that front that came through yesterday. We actually had some pretty strong storms for some of our for our southern counties. And then they all exited out to the south and east. We ended pretty nice. Now, you may have noticed the wind yesterday evening. Kind of picked up a little bit. That was that front clearing us out. You look out towards the west though, you do see a lot of rain. However, the tricky part is it's it's not really an organized system. This is the monsoon pattern that they get out west. You see pop-up showers and storms. This is the way parts of the desert southwest actually get maybe a little rain. It's this time of year. So, I think for a while our high pressure is going to keep us quiet.
We've got a good stretch ahead. In fact, look at this camera coming in from Speedway or looking out towards downtown Indianapolis. You can actually see the lights. Remember the past few days, you would just kind of see the silhouette because of the smoke. You can actually see some definition. The skies and the air have cleared out a bit. Air quality has drastically improved, which is great news. We got a beautiful forecast for you today. Later this afternoon, 1:35 we have a first pitch Indians continue that home stretch against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. 70s all afternoon. We'll top out about 76 or so. Not a bad day at all. Here's a look at Future Track 13. The only thing that we'll be watching today we have a few clouds passing by at times with still a lot of sun. And I think even though it kind of looks cloudy at times with Future Track, the sun's going to get through those and I think it'll be kind of more patchy than this. So, beautiful day ahead. And then look at what's going to happen tonight. I mean, we're already cooler this morning, but tomorrow morning, I think we'll be waking up with some low 50s and I would not be surprised if you even saw a upper 40 somewhere across central Indiana. But a nice evening tonight, get outside enjoy it or maybe go inside, watch the Fever.
They've got a game against the Connecticut Sun. Temperatures in the 70s as you're walking in, 60s as you're headed out. Julia, we've got a good stretch ahead for you. Coming up though, we'll talk a little bit more about when maybe our next rain chance will be.
>> All right, looking forward to it.
Thanks, [music] Matt. Well, city of Fishers is moving forward with plans to create two designated outdoor refreshment areas or those DORA areas.
>> So, these DORAs are popping up in cities all across central Indiana. One proposal in the Fishers would create the Nickel Plate DORA. So, from 116th up to Municipal Drive. This is the highlighted section that you see on your screen that would be included in this DORA. It includes the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater and the Fishers Art Center.
>> The second proposal is this area, the Fishers District DORA encompassing the entirety of the Fishers District with the
