This video demonstrates a creative approach to selecting books for reading by using a TBR (To Be Read) jar with various prompts such as 'a book with magic,' 'a book matching my outfit,' 'an enemies to lovers book,' 'a book from my Kindle library,' 'a book I know nothing about,' 'a book title starting with the first letter of the month,' 'a sequel,' 'a Kindle book,' 'a book in which the MMC looks like your type,' and 'a book set in a city you've never visited.' The creator applies these prompts to build a diverse reading list for June, selecting books like 'Dire Bound,' 'A Stage Set for Villains,' 'Whispers of the Deep,' 'Promise Me Sunshine,' and 'The Wedding People' based on the prompts.

TBR prompt jar chooses my reads for June 🐚 *June TBR*Added:
Hello, my friends, and welcome to one of my all-time favorite videos to film and to watch. Today, we will be choosing my June TBR. I love June. June is such a beautiful month. When it arrives, I know that summer is here. Summer is not my all-time favorite season. I've said that before, but it's still a very nice season. I don't really like super hot weather. That's my issue. It can be warm. It can be sunny, but not too hot.
I cannot handle too hot weather. And well, summers in Athens are always very hot. But I also love June for one more reason. On June 8th, I am celebrating my name day and my grandma is also celebrating her name day because I have been named after her. So that is an exciting day to look forward to in June.
But one more thing that I'm really looking forward to to do in June is to read good books and I do not know which books I will be reading in June. I have a couple of them in mind that I would love to start in the new month, but all in all, I do not have a plan. I need help. And that's where my TBR jar comes.
it comes to the rescue for one more month. It will give me prompt ideas. And based on these prompts, I know that I will have a bomb TBR by the end of this video. I'm hoping that my prompts are enough. I normally choose three prompts.
Not three, six. I normally choose six prompts. I think that I have enough here. Yeah, there are definitely more than six. So, prompt number one. We're diving in. No more delaying. Let's do this. A book with magic. Well, I know what I'm writing this prompt. I know what I want to read. Magic. Yeah, that is going to be a fantasy book. And I'm all about my fantasy books, you know that. So, I have plenty of options both for my physical TBR and for my Kindle library. So, what should we do? I'm going to be honest. I have been itching to read Dire Bound. I've heard really good things about it lately. I used to hear mixed reviews about this book, but lately I feel like I have been hearing more good things, more good reviews instead of mediocre reviews or bad reviews. So, I think that I should choose this one. I don't remember if I chose this also for another TBR in the past. I do not think so because I recently got this. So, I do not think that I ever chose this before. The only thing I know about this book is that it has wolves and we also have trials and in these trials I think that the contestants will try to bond with these huge wolves and I guess these wolves become their familiar. I'm not sure. I do not know what I'm talking about but that's what I think that this is about.
Our FMC is Marin Cooper and she has always hated the bonded. The bonded are elite warriors who form mental links with the massive direwolves that they ride. Yes, I've I've read the synopsis before. Did I choose this before? I don't remember. But I remember that the whole riding the wolves, the elite warriors riding the wolves seems strange to me cuz how massive are they?
Obviously, these elite warriors live in luxury. But our FMC Marian struggles and she's poor. Her family is poor until her little sister Shayla is kidnapped. So, I guess Marion will come to the rescue.
She will try to save her kidnapped sister and that's how she will find herself in those deadly bonding trials.
She will have to face four months of training at the castle. I love me a good training session. You know, I love when our FMC's go through training and they are sweating and they're getting stronger and stronger. I just love that.
And her instructor is Stark Theion, and I guess that is also our MMC. This will be my first choice. Dire bound. I'm here for it. It has magic. It sounds dangerous. It sounds sexy. It sounds like a good time. Hopefully, I will love it. Prompt number two, a book that matches my outfit. So, I am wearing a red top. This could have been a great choice. You know, red cover, red top.
What else can we choose? The Night Circus has a red spine and some red details on the cover, but for some reason, I want to read this in full. I feel like this is going to be a good fall read, and I do love matching my reads with the seasons, but I'm also a bit scared to start this cuz what if I do not like it? I think this is by the same author that has written the starless sea which I really didn't like.
I'm so sorry. I didn't like The Starless Sea. It was so confusing to me. And in my defense, in my defense, I have read Pyrenees, which I have loved. I'm not comparing The Starless Sea to Pyrenees, but both of them have been described as fever dreamesque books. And Pyrenees I loved. It was a five star for me, but The Starless Sea simply no. And because this is by the same author, I'm scared.
So maybe we shouldn't do that. Let's put this back.
What else is red here? Let's check my Kindle library. I might have something good over there. See, on the top of my want to read list, I have Dagger Mouth.
But Dagger Mouth will be released in Greece in late June. So, I cannot even order it. So, we cannot do that because it has some red details on the cover.
Ooh, you know what else I want to read?
And it has a very red cover. A stage set for villains. Do I own the book? No.
Have I been thinking about buying it?
Yes. Should I just go ahead and order it and read it in June? And if I don't end up reading it in June, that would be okay cuz I do want to read that. I know that this book is for the theater lovers. The gods are dead. All that's left are the players. The performers of the playhouse are as woripped as they are feared. They are enchanting shows, bending hearts, minds, and even reality itself. 18-year-old Ryven Hesper knows the dangers better than anyone after her own encounter with a player resulted in a curse that is slowly killing her. When the Playhouse announces the spectacle of a lifetime, a chance for one mortal to steal a player's immortality, Ryven sees her last chance to live. Desperate for answers, she infiltrates the competition. There she finds Jude, the playhouse's brilliant, merciless lead player, whose charm is as dangerous as his craft, and strikes a deadly bargain to save her. Carval meets One Dark Window in this lush and dark fantasy. I haven't read Carl, nor am I going to, but I love One Dark Window. Another five-star read for me. Should I go ahead and order it and read it? You know what?
I think that I should. This is going to be my second choice. A stage set for villains. Prompt number three, an enemies to lovers book. I know what I'm writing here. I know what I want to read. Enemies to lovers, fantasy books, books with magic. Give me all of those.
Okay. An enemies to lovers. Okay, I know. I know. I know. And I know that I have chosen this before, but maybe June is going to be the month that I will read it. I have heard that this is the epitome of enemies to lovers. If you were to look up on a dictionary, enemies to lovers, next to it, the explanation would be this. Apparently, our two main characters are enemies even in book two.
That's what I've heard. Maybe I'm wrong.
I really want to read this. The Jasad Air. I know that this book is Egyptian inspired, which sounds already fascinating to me. And I know that this is a great enemies to lovers. And I really hope that this book will deliver because we all know that sometimes the book says this is an enemies to lovers or maybe the author says that their book is an enemies to lovers but you start reading it and you realize that not even halfway through the book or even halfway through the book they are not enemies anymore. They are attracted from the beginning. They are already making out or whatever. We don't want that as readers. We do not want that. We want them to bicker and fight and hate each other for the most part. Okay, I will accept I will accept a couple of moments where maybe the MMC or the FMC will internally internally in their heads say that you know my enemy is pretty attractive but I hate them. They can very much realize that their enemy is attractive but please do not make them lust over each other from the first few pages. I hate that. So this is going to be my third choice. I think we have the Jaside people and the Nazal people and they are enemies. Our FMC is the Jaside heir, but she will have to secretly work with the Nizal people to save her people. Anyways, I'm not going to read the entire synopsis. Enemies to lovers is all I need to know. Egyptian inspired. I'm here for it. Prompt number four, a book from my Kindle library.
Okay, that's a very easy one. I can just choose one book from my Kindle library and that's it. Very easy, very straightforward. I think I want to choose a shorter book cuz I feel like I have been choosing pretty long books even though I didn't check how many pages a stage set for villains has. Let me check. Good read says yeah that it is 500 pages. So it's not that short. Okay, there is a fantasy book here which is around 380 pages. It is called Whispers of the Deep. So I guess this has to do with the ocean and water and maybe mermaids which sounds good for summer.
It is part of a series, but maybe each book follows a different couple cuz judging by the covers, I do not know if they are the same characters or not. I will need to check that out. I'm not sure. So, in this book, we have a CD which is under the sea. And our FMC Meera is one of the many engineers that keeps Beta Beta Beta the city under the sea running. She loves that city and her dream is to help it flourish. But then she has a solo job in an abandoned section of the city. And there she will encounter a monster of legend and undying. What is that? A dangerous merman from an ancient civilization longforgotten. So the guy is the mermaid. He's a mer man. Argus urges has fought his entire life for his people.
So Meera will save him and that will create a bond between them. Wait, I'm confused. Is the undying the MMC or not?
I don't know. But here it says that that mirror man will steal her, keep her, and feed her only to realize their bond is far deeper than Captor and Cup T. Why does it seem a bit weird? He steals her, keeps her, feeds her like she is a pet.
Is this a good book or is this going to be a twisted smarty book? I can give it a go and we will see if it is too smarty and not my cup of tea. I can always DNF it and not read it. So, Whispers of the Deep. It is. It's going to be my fourth choice cuz deep oceans, the beach equals summer to me. Sounds like it's a good book for the summer. And yeah, I think that each book will follow another couple. So, this is not an actual series. This is an interconnected standalone series, I think. Prompt number five, a book I know nothing about. Now, this is a bit hard cuz I do know information about all of the books that I have gotten and I have bought.
You know what? That's a lie. That's a lie. I have gotten Promise Meyer Sunshine and Ready or Not just because my friend recommended them to me and I don't really know the plot or I just don't remember if I have read the synopsis. I don't remember. So maybe I could do Promise Me Sunshine cuz I know that this is a romance and romance and summer they match. They do match. But also another book that apparently I do not know stuff about is the wedding people cuz when I bought this book I was calling it a romance book and one of you guys very kindly informed me that this is not a romance book and I thought that it was so I could also choose that cuz your girl doesn't know what this is about. Which one should I do? I wish you could answer. Should I do the wedding people just because it has water on the cover and again June summer the beach the ocean. So, our FMC arrives at a Grand Beachside Hotel in Rhode Island, and she is mistaken for one of the wedding people, but she's actually the only guest at the Cornwall Inn who isn't here for the big event. Oh, she is divorced and depressed. And when the bride discovers that Phoebe, the depressed and divorced guest, is there, she becomes furious. Leela, the bride, has spent months accounting for every detail and every possible disaster except for Phoebe. Soon, both women find their best laid plans derailed. So, I guess this is a story about maybe a possible friendship that will bloom between Phoebe and the bride. Sounds good. I definitely didn't know that. It feels like this is the first time that I actually read the synopsis of the book.
This is definitely not a romance, but what about this one? H I think that this will also deal with grief. So, both books feel a bit heavy, but this will have a romance, and I'm always a sucker for romances. Should I just try to suff down here and choose blindly? Yeah. No, this Oh, okay. I was so sure that I had picked up Promise Me Sunshine, but I picked up The Wedding People, so I guess that is my choice. Book number five.
Okay, let's choose the last and final prompt. The book title starts with the first letter of the month. Okay. So, I'm choosing my June TBR. So, I need a book that starts with a J. Do I even have a book that starts with a J? J is such a specific letter. And I cannot even think about many words that start with a J.
Joy, job, June, jealousy, jealous. I cannot find a book that starts with a J, guys. I just can't. I don't have any on my TBR. I'm just searching here on my list, but I see no J. The Jasad Air.
Jasa does start with a J, but I already chose that and it's not the first letter. What should we do? Should we just skip the prompt? Yeah, let's skip it and let's choose another one cuz I cannot find a book that stars J. Let's try this again. A sequel. I don't [clears throat] think that I have one.
Yeah, I do not have one. I don't think that I have one. Or maybe I'm just blanking out. Let's choose again.
A Kindle book. I just chose that. Why am I writing the same prompts over and over again? I will throw that. Come on. This is the last prompt. Don't make it difficult. A book in which the MMC looks like your type. Yes. Now we're talking.
I don't know how any of these guys look like. He has to be tall. He has to be muscular. He has to look fierce, but deep inside he is a sweetheart with a beautiful kind soul. And of course, he has to have dark hair. I don't know. The issue is that I do not know how these MMC's look like. I mean, I see the book, but how do I know how the guy looks like? Only if I can maybe find a book where the MMC is on the cover, even though normally they don't do that. They don't really put the MC's on the cover.
I'm just checking if I remember any book that might possibly have a dark-haired guy who matches this description that I gave you. I'm so sorry. I cannot remember or know what all these MMC's look like. I just do not know. Why did I even write this prompt? Sometimes I do know how MMC's look like before I dive into the books. But normally these books are very very huge and people really talk about them. For example, Fourth Wing. Before I read it, I knew how the main characters look like because everybody talks about Fourth Wing.
Should I choose again? Cuz this is taking forever and I'm getting annoyed.
Let's choose again. A book set in a city you've never visited. All right, so this has to be a book that is taking place in the real world. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense. Let's grab Promise Me Sunshine again. Do we know where this takes place? I will look it up online.
Let's see, cuz I would like to read a romance this month. Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bstone takes place primarily in New York City. Okay, I've never been to New York City, and I don't think that I will ever go to New York City, so that is going to be my choice. Promise me.
Sunshine. We need a romance, a contemporary romance to break things up cuz we have a lot of fantasy, but we also have The Wedding People, which I think is women's fiction, literary fiction, not sure. Our FMC is called Lenny, and she has lost her best friend Lou. So, she's grieving. She's avoiding her concerned parents, her apartment, and the list of things she's supposed to do to enjoy life again. She's a babysitter. She's babysitting a little girl, a 7-year-old. And the little girl has an uncle. He's called Miles. And I think that he will be our MMC, but he's kind of a huge jerk. But it seems that Miles knows a lot about grief himself as well. And also, isn't this the Statue of Liberty? I could have guessed where this book takes place from the cover, but I didn't notice. This is going to be my last choice. Okay, that's it. I have my June TBR. Many, many pages will be read this June. We have a stage set for villains. We have Whispers of the Deep, Promise Me Sunshine, The Wedding People, The Justad Air, and Dire Bound. Okay, looks like a good fun TBR for the first month of summer. And I'm very excited to see what I will think about all of these books cuz honestly, I have been really wanting to read all of them for a while.
And I'm just looking at them and I'm wondering with which one should I start.
We will see. We will see cuz right now I am in the middle of two other very exciting books. So, we will see. All right, my friends. Thank you so much for watching.
