18TH CENTURY VENETIAN CHERUB MIRROR | JAY ARENSKI WORKS OF ARTAdded:
So, when Jay and I did a little chat about a painting a while back, you would have heard unfortunately that Jay's dad recently passed.
Um and what's really interesting about our display this time around in May 2026 is that Jay's been very inspired by his dad, the better park, and lots of 19th century things which his dad loved. And so our stand this time around is sort of inspired by him.
Um and so the best way to showcase that is definitely this wall here.
Um which screams Venetian. So this is one of the Venetian pieces uh that we got from Parma. And it's a mirror. Now what's really amazing about this is the cherub cresting carving at the top um is 18th century.
And this was actually later remodeled into a mirror in the 19th century.
So this is something that is really awesome as it shows those two different periods of coming together.
Um and the cherubs are amazing and that is the original guild which is really lovely. Um and then it was later reimagined as a mirror. So something that even we do now, you know, where you find a piece and you can create something new with it. Um like a Black Forest you know, carving can be transformed into a lamp. Um you know, even back then, you know, lovely gilded cherubs and crestings could be transformed into new pieces um like mirrors. And so this is something that is really special um and and the just beautiful carving um and very classic of the Venetian nobility.
Uh so this was probably owned by a very noble family um just like us.
