Nicotine, derived from tobacco plants, can be used as an effective natural pesticide to control invasive species such as cane toads and frogs, as demonstrated by a personal experience where snuff application instantly paralyzed a frog, causing it to become rigid as if in rigor mortis.

Chewing Tobacco for Coquis and Cane ToadsAdded:
Greetings everybody. Well, for the benefit of the people who live here in Hawaii, I am experimenting with nicotine. Uh now, these kinds of nicotine products have gotten to be a little more difficult to get your hands on these days. So, I decided simplest solution here uh for me was that I'm just going back to growing tobacco. Now, that kind of a problem for me because man, I smoke one cigar and I bought the entire state of uh North and South Carolina. Yeah. Yeah. Every tobacco state I own it. If I smoke one cigar, I I am a um very bad with tobacco. And so I uh parted ways with that stuff many years ago. Uh and I'm still here because of it. But, uh, I I was always pretty good at growing it and I really enjoyed growing it. I' I've back in the Midwest, I grew quite a bit of tobacco.
Wisconsin, believe it or not, is actually a tobacco state. You wouldn't know that, would you? They grow a plug and cigar wrapper tobacco in Wisconsin.
You'll see shading l out over fields is white stuff. And underneath that will be the uh wrapper tobacos. They grow it under the L because it uh shade because it makes it stretch and they get nice big soft leaves, you know. Yeah. For wrapping cigars in. Well, yeah.
We had a plague of frogs one year uh back in the Midwest and the window maker I was working for at the time, it was fall and the doors were still open on the plant and we had frogs of every variety. I mean, it didn't matter what kind they were. They were just streaming inside the building. Yeah. We had frogs everywhere. Well, guys I was working with, you couldn't smoke there cuz all the sawdust, right? So, the tobacco users, they always chewed uh snuff or something. Well, one of the guys on a milling machine, this frog come hopping by. He picked that thing up, popped the mouth open, stuck a water skull uh snuff into the frog, closed the mouth. Frog went stiff as a board like that. Just Oh, man. Like I had rigamortis. You could driven a nail in with this frog.
Um yeah, it paralyzes them. And so I'm considering attempting to use uh nicotine sprays against the Koke Frog here. And we'll see. I'm assuming that if I hit them with the stuff that we'll probably see them dropping out of the bushes pink. Well, we'll find out. But Bill's gonna have tobacco plants in the nursery for you folks out there who can handle smoking the stuff without buying, you know, a tobacco state. So, uh, I'm going to have quite a bit. Uh, in fact, I'm even bringing in some of the, uh, Nicoian rustica, the type that was used to be used in the peace pipes. Yeah. And set you up in a corner drooling. I don't know. Right. I'll be raising some of that Native American style stuff, too, because it's quite strong. And I'm going to use it for spray. Anyway, aloha. Um, there's some ideas. If you if you got the cane toads around, you got dogs and such, um, you know, try using the same controls that we use with K.
Hang loose, folks. Aloha.
