[00:00:49]All right, guys. So, I ran across this post on Twitter, and it sounded really good. The real benefits, smoother frame times, better 1% lows, snappier mouse aim, and lighter feel, more responsive, fixes micro stutters in busy fights. How could I say no?

[00:01:05]All right, guys. So, here's basically how this works.

[00:01:10]What it does is it sets the timings on your PC down to 1 ms. Because if you don't set this, it'll do this resting thing where it'll be about 16 ms, or at least that's what it says in the post, which gives you a little added input latency. So, all you got to do is go to your registry editor. Once you go to your registry editor, you're going to want to go to computer, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, system, current control set, control, session manager, and then kernel. And in here is where you're going to want to put in the file.

[00:01:39]It actually doesn't come with a native file, so you have to create it yourself.

[00:01:43]The way to do this is you right click and hit new. Then you want to create a DWORD 32-bit value. You want to name this new value global timer resolution requests. This is important that you get it right. Make sure that everything is spelled properly, or it's not going to work. After that, you set it to one and it's all set up. Now, you got to do is restart your computer and this will be activated. So, I looked into it and I found this, a way to optimize it even farther. But, before we do that, let's just look at the results.

[00:02:12]So, we'll go down to the bottom here and you can see with this setup um without tweaking it any farther, you can see that the sleep time here goes from 14 ms down to 1 to 2 ms. Technically, you can take it down even farther and get exactly 1 ms. You can really tweak the hell out of it if you really want to. There's a lot of steps into doing that. I'll uh see if I can include this in the description if you guys want to do that, but here's what I noticed.

[00:02:40]When I turned this on and went through this, it felt exactly the same as long as global timer resolution request was on.

[00:02:51]So, when this setting felt the same as this setting to me. Also, I tried it with disable dynamic tick yes and no and it felt exactly the same way as long as it was set in the registry. If you want to go full out, you can do it. It also improves your benchmarks. As you can see here, uh before, he was getting a few frames less and then afterwards, a few frames more. You know, if you really want to tweak those extra FPS, go for it. Now, something the Twitter post didn't mention was disabling dynamic tick.

[00:03:22]Here, however, it does mention that. So, I went in, tried disabling it and tried to see if there was any difference. Now, enabling and disabling dynamic tick is really simple. All you have to do is open your CMD as admin, then you type in bcdedit /set disabledynamic tick yes, then restart. If you want to re-enable it, all you do is type the exact same thing and say no. Now, as far as I could tell, having this set yes or no didn't really matter when it came to mouse input. It always felt the same as long as you had the registry edited. But, I didn't really do this to optimize my computer.

[00:04:01]I'm actually always looking for a way to make my mouse input feel better, or at least better to me. And it actually makes it feel hyper-responsive. I think that's the best way to put it. Because I'm not used to this, I felt like I was constantly over-adjusting. But, I definitely noticed a difference, and I guess that's the main point. Now, is it going to make you the best player in the world? Well, it didn't work for me. I sure struggled with it. I'm not going to lie, but it did change how the mouse input felt. So, if you're not happy with your current input, feel free to try this out and see if it helps. As for what the post claims, it seems to all be true. The mouse really does feel lighter when you put this in and quicker. You do get smoother frame times and better 1% lows. It really does not appear to be placebo. Also, it's important for this not to only work, but to be legal. So, I double-checked with Claude AI. So, here's what Claude says. What it does, Windows normally switches its system timer between 15.6 ms and 1 ms. And this really just makes it always stay at 1 ms. It does say that it will get slightly more consistent frame pacing and marginally lower input latency in CS2. It says that it's legal and not bannable. It actually says it's completely legal and safe from an anti-cheat perspective. The only downsides are that it has a slightly higher power consumption and CPU usage, but given that we're playing Counter-Strike on desktop PCs, it's negligible. So, if you're feeling adventurous, try it out, and who knows, maybe it'll give you just the benefit you need to take your game to the next level.
