A strong El Niño (Godzilla El Niño) creates a trade-off in hurricane activity: it suppresses Atlantic hurricanes by increasing upper-level winds that disrupt storm organization, potentially benefiting the Gulf Coast, but simultaneously warms Eastern Pacific waters and creates favorable conditions for more tropical storms and hurricanes in the Pacific region.

Why a “Godzilla El Niño” Could Save the Gulf Coast From HurricanesAdded:
Everybody's hearing about this possible Godzilla El Niño forming right now, but almost nobody is talking about what that means for hurricane season. And surprisingly, for people living along the Gulf Coast, this could actually be really good news. And here's why. El Niño changes wind patterns high up in the atmosphere, and when it gets strong, these upper-level winds basically rip Atlantic hurricanes apart before they can fully organize. Now, that means that there's going to be fewer storms that survive long enough to become major hurricanes in the Gulf and the Atlantic.
But, here's the twist that nobody really talks about. What helps the Atlantic usually supercharges the Pacific. So, a strong El Niño can create warmer water and more favorable environment across the Eastern Pacific, which often means more tropical storms and hurricanes forming over there. So, while places like Texas, Louisiana, and Florida could see a much quieter season, the Pacific side, including parts of Mexico and the western coastlines, may have to watch things very carefully. And if this really becomes a full super or Godzilla El Niño, the effects could become extreme worldwide.
