High pressure systems create dry conditions by sinking air that warms and inhibits cloud formation, while cold fronts bring moisture and storm development; forecasters use multiple models to predict when these systems will shift, allowing them to communicate probabilities of rain and potential severe weather events to the public.

First Alert Forecast: Rain and storms likely on SaturdayAdded:
First Alert Weather Super [music] 7-Day Forecast.
High pressure continuing to build in.
You can see some clouds creeping across Mississippi and Alabama. That's actually the outskirts of this heavy rain that's moving through Texas. We're not going to see any of that rain here today, but we are going to tap into some of those high clouds through the day. But, as this high sweeps to the east and sits right over us through the end of the week, we're going to continue to recycle that warmth and it's going to stay dry. We're talking mid-80s by Thursday and Friday.
Today, 80°, 82 tomorrow, and then it gets warm. We see temperatures stay in the 80s this weekend, but we're going to switch into that wetter pattern due to a cold front that's going to come in on Saturday. Now, the Euro model does have some showers as early as Saturday morning. I'm more confident that we're going to see a line of storms arrive Saturday evening. Looks like 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. right now could be pretty stormy and there's enough energy we could see a few strong storms. Now, I have not issued a First Alert Weather Day yet, but if the next round of data comes in wet, I will end up issuing a First Alert Weather Day for Saturday. Not entirely bad though. Again, we desperately need the rain. Right now looks like that front moves through on Sunday, so Sunday's actually trending drier. We're hanging on to a 30% chance of rain, but that may end up going down. So, right now Saturday does look like the wetter day with Sunday being mostly dry. 30% chance of rain Monday of next week. Just beyond Monday, I'm seeing a really high chance for widespread rain and storms on Tuesday of next week. So, we're going to get into that wetter pattern and it looks like at the end of next week, first week in a May, we could see another round of heavy rain. So, we're going to get back into a normal pattern of rain it looks like through the end of April, which could actually really benefit the drought.
