Radium Gave These Larvae Unnaturally Long Life

[00:00:00]On the 3rd of February, 1903, a Polish physicist called Jan Casimir Danysz began an experiment that would have mind-blowing implications.

[00:00:08]He took several dozen Mediterranean flour moth larvae and placed them into two separate flasks with enough flour for them all to live on for a long time.

[00:00:17]One flask was the control, which he left alone, and in the other he exposed the larvae to radium for several hours.
