[00:00:17]Left behind by everything that came after.

[00:00:35]But abandonment doesn't mean empty.

[00:00:46]And out here, whatever happened, it didn't just disappear.

[00:00:57]You can feel it in the silence and the way everything just sits like it's waiting for something or someone.

[00:01:21]And the deeper you go, it feels like you're not alone.

[00:02:53]And we did not sleep very well last night.

[00:02:58]>> It was too cold and quite loud where we were, too. I didn't expect it to be so cold. We didn't really pack enough blankets, but that's okay.

[00:03:17]This is where we slept last night.

[00:03:22]Now, this is the reality of road tripping or just, you know, camping with one of these trucks is they're great. They're super capable.

[00:03:40]However, where does all your gear go?

[00:03:53]So, everything's just sitting up here.

[00:03:56]We've got our fridge and uh tools, all our gear. Everything's kind of crammed in the front and then you just sleep in the back.

[00:04:09]So, it's not a bad setup.

[00:04:12]Um, it's just not very spacious. It's easy to want to stay somewhere like this, but that isn't why we're here.

[00:04:27]We're headed deep into the mountains in search of one of the largest, most remote mining camps that we have ever found.

[00:04:35]not knowing what to expect or what to find.

[00:04:39]But that excites us and that drives us to keep looking.

[00:06:14]It's crazy to me that at one point in time, this was somebody's commute to work.

[00:06:20]The stories that these logging roads could tell would be truly amazing.

[00:07:20]From 1936 to 1949, this mountain was alive.

[00:07:26]Hundreds of men came up here to work to carve something out of a solid rock hanging on the side of a cliff.

[00:07:34]And this this was their way in.

[00:07:38]over 700 steps down a narrow wooden staircase every single day before the sun came up and long after it disappeared.

[00:15:41]The deeper we go, the more the outside world disappears. No wind, no birds, just the sound of her own footsteps echoing through something that hasn't moved in decades.

[00:26:47]So, apparently this uh this cave that we just came out of connects to the upper cave that we were in earlier, but we're not going through that today. It's what 7:00. It's already getting late. And maybe we'll come back and tackle that another day. I think it'd be pretty cool.
