There is a fundamental difference between reactive narcissistic defense, which involves knee-jerk reactions to protect a false self through withdrawal or rage, and the calculated malice of character-disturbed individuals who actively seek to destroy another person's identity, as defined by George Simon's concept of character disturbance and Dr. Salerno's work on intentional cruelty.

Defense vs. Malice: When Character Disturbance Turns CruelAñadido:
It's this knee-jerk reaction, this reactionary pattern of defending the shared fantasy and this grandiosity and false self.
And doing it more with withdrawal and with a level of perhaps narcissistic injury or rage.
Whereas a sociopathic or a more malignant narcissist or what George Simon calls a character disturbed individual or Dr. Slurna calls a person with intentional cruelty.
These individuals are acting with a different level of malice and with a sense of wanting to end or destroy your identity. I've had a client where this even could be like your daughter or your son.
Essentially knowing that wanting to end your mom or like their mom or their dad.
Simply because of this disturbance of character.
