We got a good one for you today. I'm just putting a few more things in the truck. We've already got a head start.
We're back down on that driveway job. We got to get a few things rounded up, hauled in, trucked in this morning. So, I'll give you a whole scope of what we did previously on this in just a second in case you are new here. But the big question we got was what's the difference between the culvert we put in and the culvert we took out. I'm I'm going to show you. We got to uh trim this off so it looks a little nicer obviously.
That'll work just fine. No issues there.
This single wall culvert, it's kind of in the name.
This double wall culvert. Single wall cover culvert only has one wall and it is ribbed outside and inside which this presents some problems. We'll talk to you about that in just a second. Double wall, it's two walls. Has this on the outside and then the smooth inner liner.
Should go without saying, but the double wall is stronger. Quite a bit stronger.
A lot of people say, "Hey, that's not enough cover on that culvert. You need 12 inches of cover." These double walls, we put them in plenty of times just by the way the ditches lay next to the road. They might have less than six inches of cover and they have been holding up for over 15 years now. No issues at all. Triacles, concrete trucks, they're strong culverts as long as you get good fill all the way around.
When we went and we did this, we took a sledgehammer or you can use anything and we tamped that stone down underneath.
So, it's good tight fill all the way around that pipe. As long as we do that, the amount of cover we have on here is fine. And this setup will way outlast the previous setup with no issues at all. The other huge advantage to the double wall is the smooth inner liner.
It means whenever sticks and leaves from the upper side wash across or under this road here and come down through here or any sticks and leaves from these trees, it's allowed to just flow right through.
There's nothing to get it jammed up.
where on a single wall if your Milwaukee saw comes running through and get you jammed up in those ribs, well, that's a problem because now a stick's going to come through next and get jammed up and then the leaves are going to get jammed up and then it's going to get backed up and clogged up and then it's going to do exactly what happened here. It's just going to start overrunning the road, washing the road out, and then the road is going to become lower than the culvert and the culvert becomes a moot point and a driveway gets ruined.
This is a 15-in double wall cover, 20 foot long. They're $240ish dollars.
He's got a bit of an add-on he wants to do. He's got these logs sitting over here. And we're going to try to hook him up with a nice little fire pit area.
Here we go.
It's a tight spot. He said don't worry about the hostess. So, we are not.
But I am a little worried about the barn over here. I'm just keeping an eye on it.
Don't hit the outhouse.
Need this butt end to come off a little.
There we go.
Spin.
Spin.
That'll work. Let's see. We'll put the butt end downhill.
Well, downhill to downhill.

the previous video I said I had a disconnect problem. My disconnect wasn't working. I figured out the mystery. I forgot I had the jump pad hooked up at the same time which negates the whole battery disconnect because this is its own battery.
That's okay. Mystery solved.
As far as getting this things fixed, it's on the list. I think uh people think, oh, look, there it is right there.
There's the alternator, and it's not how it works. You know what I mean? You got to do jobs. You got to get the money to do it. You got to order it. And then you got to find the time sometimes between all the jobs that we're working on to uh actually get it installed. It's a process.
And uh if a fellow thinks this is a big problem, tells me a lot about your problem scale.
Heat up here.
Don't hit the barn.

So, he just wants him a nice little fire pit area back there. He had these cedar logs laying around. That'll work fine.
We stacked some rocks up. We put some stone in. This was a quick add-on.
Told them we'd see how long it took. If we had enough material, we'll do the math and charge appropriately, but definitely made a non-usable space.
Pretty usable.
So, the rest of these eights we have delivered, they just get broadcast throughout here, smoothed out, looking real good, everything cleaned up, and then we'll go grab that roller and get it all beat into place.

Believe it or not, I'm actually ahead of schedule right now.
Something I probably shouldn't say.
Probably good enough.
So, I went ahead and ordered the next load of stone for this project. Once we get this rolled, that's the end of phase one, and we'll be moving on to phase two, the second second part of this project. And I had expected to start later this week on Thursday, but tomorrow's Tuesday. I've got a load of sevens coming for the job site we're storing the equipment on right now.
They're going to tag on a load of 73s.
We can keep rolling with this guy.

I think after we're done with all the gravel work here, I've got a tree removal job next.
Technically the end of job one. Job two, we're going to go ahead and start on this. Also, I just heard a neighbor drive by and holler out the window how good it looks to the customer. So, that's always nice. Maybe the neighbor needs a little gravel work done. So, he's got this beautiful pond sitting down here. Absolutely gorgeous spot. And you can see he's got a little bit of trail here. They put this in when they built the place, which is like 30 years ago. So, it's held up pretty well. But, he wants to add some stone on top of it.
It's pretty straightforward.
Sands. A couple things.
Science is a fun word. I do want to get rid of these rocks. There's those there.
Um, there's this one here and this one here.
Reason being is pretty simple. I don't know what you know about rocks, but they don't stick to each other very well.
So, if you come up here and you're trying to drive up the hill and you put stone on this, as soon as the tire gets up to here and it's on here, it's just going to peel these rocks out. You're going to end up with a hole every time.
Or an exposed rock and you're going to rip your oil pan off. Either way, it's best if they come out. The thing about rocks here are either that machine can handle them or they're the size of a house.
Okay. So, that didn't budge. That's interesting.
Can you see the amount of uh ground movement?
I think we could get it out, but I think we're just going to end up making a big unnecessary hole. So, what we'll probably do on that one is get a hammer breaker.
Let's check this other one. We got to walk that line of pride of no, I can get that thing out of there. And how much trouble am I going to cause myself?
Yeah, that was no problem. I'mma flop it out. Easy peasy.
A lot of people are convinced you have to have a working thumb to pick things up. You don't. You just have to be competent.
Um, let's just set that over here somewhere.
There we go.
Beautiful.
formed. We would like this rock out, that big one up top. So, see what happens. I think I'm going to switch buckets for that.
That's a nice boulder.
Really nice boulder.
He just he drives his Volkswagen Beetle up and down this hill. That's how he gets up and down this hill. They don't have a side by side or golf club or anything. He has this this Volkswagen Beetle he brings up and down this.
We're just going to do some real light grading with the 304. We're going to grade everything uphill and then uh lead it into submission with the roller.
I don't know if you can tell by what's rolling, but it's it's pretty much just grass on gravel. We're just going to kind of peel the grass off, let it roll to the side.

For this hill section, we've got what they call 73s.
So, where we're at, the first number is the bigger stone. So, like if we have 23s, it's going to be twos and then fines. 73s are sevens and then the fines. 53s, you're getting it right. So, these are just sevens with fines mixed in. And that'll pack tight and it holds on those hills a lot better than what just regular sevens would.
This is an incredibly expensive way to drag this road, but it's currently the only thing I have that has enough horsepower Oh gosh. Sorry about your tree filming and driving. It's terrible.
It has enough horsepower to operate on this hill.
What I'd really like that same company that makes that crowning greater that I have on the 555.
They make a a pullbehind drag, pull behind grater box with an axle on the back that you can lift up and down. Like a big version of what Neil Ko uses on his on his small tractor.
They make that. So, I'm going to reach out and see if I can't get one from them. Something like that behind the 555 with the hitch we put on the back of that machine. That would be amazing.

love to do an outro over there, but I'm kind of in a hurry. We got another job we got to get to. Actually, it's just down the road. Someone stopped by a neighbor. He's got a covert he wants replaced.
This is uh this is how we get work. We don't even advertise. We just do work.
People like what it looks like and away we go. But everything's looking good there. Next video, we'll be right back on that job. We're going to get phase two finished up is the goal as long as we can get delivery trucks or trials available to get that stone delivered and um maybe even start rolling into phase three. So, that's pretty exciting.
They just keep adding work. At some point, we'll have to pull off because I got other jobs already scheduled and then come back for some of the additional stuff. But, they're tickled with everything. Hopefully, you guys are enjoying the videos and I hope you're having a good whatever it is you're having.
Looks like another failed single wall culvert.
