Political leaders who prioritize national unity and represent marginalized groups often face criticism for 'divisiveness' because they force society to confront uncomfortable truths about existing divisions, rather than creating new divisions themselves.

Trump Can't Hide His Jealousy as Obama's Presidential Center Steals the Spotlight
Added:So, I was having this exchange with this gentleman on social media today on Facebook and we were talking about, well, we started talking about Michelle Obama versus Melania. Um, but somehow we got onto the subject of Barack Obama.
And so, he said that Barack Obama was the worst president we've ever had and that he was the most divisive president we've ever had. Now, I don't know about you, but I've seen where a lot of people um particularly MAGA has um they've said that Obama was so divisive and so I just want to focus on that and let's just stop pretending. Let's just be truthful.
A black man people did not divide this country. Racism did. And and stay with me because I'm going to explain to you what I mean. His presidency forced people to see it whether they wanted to or not because what exactly made him divisive?
I mean every speech the man gave he talked about unity. He always said I'm you know I'm your president. I'm your it did across party lines. He was everyone's president. He was supporting America the entire country whether you agreed with him or not.
So, what makes people say that he was divisive? I mean, was it his policy or was it his presence?
And that's what I think it was, his presence. When he got elected, there was an immediate movement questioning whether he was even born here. Not disagreement, guys. That was delegitimization.
That wasn't policy.
that was about who people believed had the right to sit in that office.
When he passed healthc care reform, suddenly it was tyranny, but similar ideas before him because he didn't just come up with um affordable health care on his own. Remember Mitt Romney had basically suggested the same thing for his state anyway. So it wasn't necessarily 100%, you know, his idea. He didn't sit down at a table somewhere one night by a candle and write it. Okay.
But um they did not treat him the same when he came out with this.
When he said in response to the Trayvon Martin shooting, "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon."
You already know that really set him off. He was called divisive for acknowledging something that black families understood without explanation.
I don't think it was just black families either. I think a lot of white families understood exactly what he was saying.
And what he was saying was the absolute truth. That could have easily been my son who went to that store, got those Skittles, came back and got confronted.
When the Ferguson unrest happened, and he called uh for calm and accountability and understanding, he was still called divisive, not because of what he said, but because of what people heard.
and what they heard was a challenge. It was a challenge to the version of America they were comfortable with.
So, let's be honest.
Divisive became a code word, a way to say, "I don't like what this represents."
Because a lot of people were fine with the idea of equality, until it looked like him, until it had power, until it couldn't be ignored.
So no, he wasn't the most divisive president. He was the moment this country had to confront what it had been avoiding for a very long time. And instead of dealing with it, people blamed him for it. Not because he divided the country, but because he exposed how divided it already was.
What do you guys think? Do you agree?
Hey, I'm up for debate. Post in the comments.
>> I'm always open to traveling for food.
So, I'm going to travel to get all my beauty supply needs.
>> She got a sign that says, "Welcome."
That is the owner. There are no words to express.
>> That's the owner.
>> How proud I am of the way you showed up.
>> Yes. And tell us the name of it.
>> You show up every single day.
>> Beauty station.
>> It has been an HONOR TO BE BY YOURSELF.
And so, Yes, let me just say this to you guys. Not only is it a beauty supply store, but she also has station for like braiding. She has all of these. Look at this guys. No higher call.
>> So everything >> I don't know about you guys, but every clip that I'm seeing of the Obamas today, I'm crying. Every single one.
It's ridiculous that I am literally crying. So moved. And is it the words that they say? Sure. Is it the remembrance of a time when there was just hope and joy? Sure. Beyond the politician and all of that, what I am resonating with is the remembrance of our human spirit. Genuinely, the quiet force of our human spirit is hope. So in the darkest of nights, it is that quiet force that remembers that dawn will arrive. So may we recirculate that type of messaging over and over and over again because very quickly we are reminded that we are always better together than a >> former presidents from different political parties stood together. But guess what? Trump never appeared.
>> Trump trashed it, >> right? Because remember what he said? He said that Obama the Obama presidential center it's a disaster. I mean, look, uh, President Obama, and if he if I if he wanted help, I'd give him help because I'm a really good builder and I build on time, on budget. He's building his library in Chicago. It's a disaster.
And he said something to the effect, "I only want DEI. I only want woke." He wants woke people to build it. Well, he got woke people and they have massive cost overruns. The job is stopped. Uh, I don't know. It's a disaster. And I don't like that happening because it's I think it's bad for the presidency that a thing like that should happen. He's got >> It looks bad. Uh uh Obama would have asked him.
>> Just in case you were wondering how upset or jealous Trump must be of Obama's presidential library in Chicago.
Here's just a tiny example that may give us a glimpse into how he's feeling.
Trump posted to Truth Social. this AI generated image of the Obama presidential library. He writes the Barack Hussein Obama Library in 10 years when fully matured. Talk about an immature tempered tantrum. But you shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house, even if it's a glass white house. Because we don't have to wait 10 years to see Trump's projects turn into living nightmares that we, the American people, paid for. For example, look at what he did to the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool. That didn't take years to destroy. No, Trump did that in a matter of weeks. Not only did the pool get covered in algae, essentially making the reflecting pool green, but that blue paint that Trump was so adamant about is now chipping off in the reflecting pool. I wonder how much that's going to cost us, the American taxpayers, to repair. I never thought that paying for Trump's swamp would be on my 2026 bingo card. Alas, here we are. Instead of him draining the swamp like he promised he would, he's just creating swamps on our dime. to the MAGA group and Donald Trump got very very angry.
How how did he invite other former presidents not me? Let us watch the space.
>> That disproportionately affects our most vulnerable society. A higher national debt raises income taxes, sales taxes.
It reduces the government's ability to respond to like the recession that we're inevitably going in. It reduces the government's ability to respond to like national emergencies. There's an attack happening on our democracy as we speak.
And it's an inside job. Intelligent and thoughtful voting is the only way out of this. And we have to make sure that we vote early and in every single election that we have the opportunity to.
>> The primaries are happening all over the country right now and we have 6 months until the midterms. Know who and what is on your ballot. My name is Augusta Renee and I hope you have the day you voted for. And if you didn't vote, you're going to have the day that somebody else did.
>> What do you think about the current state of America?
>> It's awful.
>> Why do you think it's so awful?
>> Because you think we'd be in a more progressive era, but like we're not.
We're like regressing. Like we're going back.
>> Do you think we should be more progressive with some of our policies here in the United States?
>> Thousand%.
>> For instance, should we be deporting illegal migrants?
>> No.
>> And what should we do? It's a big topic right now. For instance, we're just a few blocks away from Canal Street where lots of raids have taken place. What should we do with people who are coming to the country illegally?
>> I think we have bigger issues to worry about. You know, we do have a really bad homeless crisis. I work in criminal court. Actually, the majority of people that are getting arrested are American citizens and people that are like getting arrested for like petty larsenies, you know, which is just like they're stealing toilet paper because they don't have the money to pay for it or like food. Um, so I don't think >> should we allow petty crime just to scope by?
>> I think there's something that needs to be done. There's clearly an underlining issue.
>> And here in New York City, do you think people should have more hope now that Zoro Mandami has been elected?
>> I would like to think so, but I'm big on, you know, actions speak louder than words. So, let's just hope he does something.
>> And what do you think about Zoran Mandami's meeting with President Trump?
They seem pretty friendly.
>> I mean, he has to keep it cute, you know. It's it's it's politics.
Obviously, our president can't do so, but um we have to keep a cute >> stop trying.
>> Former President Barack Obama making a pointed message for the future, even as thousands gathered here in Chicago to celebrate the past. His rise from Chicago Southside to the White House with the opening of the Obama Presidential Center right here. Now, former first lady Michelle Obama also had very pointed words, praising her husband, but drawing a strong contrast with President Trump.
>> Failing to see the humanity in all people puts us all on a slippery slope.
And once that slide starts, there's no telling where it stops.
a dangerous precedent that flies in the very face of our faith and of the founding promise of this democracy that all of us all of us are created equal.
>> Of course, President Trump was not invited to be on stage with other former presidents like Bill Clinton, George W.
Bush, Joe Biden, but his name and his policies were really the subtext of so many of the remarks here today. Now, President Obama urged Americans to move beyond this current moment of divisiveness and find common ground. He said anything is still possible, pointing to his own improbable election as an example.
>> You were doing the people's work, rescuing our economy, expanding healthcare, ending a war, ordering the Bin Laden raid, saving an auto industry, winning a peace prize.
Let me tell you guys this because I know that there are going to be critics out there saying, "Well, you know, you just he's a liberal president, whatever." No, he was just a good president. We tend to romanticize things a little bit. I didn't always agree with Barack Obama. I wanted him to do more for black people.
I wanted him not to be so kumbaya and let's work across the aisle. However, that's what you're supposed to do. He never called us stupid. He never lashed out at us. He understood that there was an adversarial relationship with the media that you should have and not everything is roses and you're not going to love everything that the media says about you.
>> They did not talk about his name, but they ideas.
How many federal workers do you plan to lay off?
>> Well, we may do a lot and that's only because of the Democrats. And as you know, they want to be able to take care of people that have come into our country illegally. And no system can handle that. And so we're totally opposed on that, but we can't take it.
We just can't do it. I'd love to do everybody. I'd love to do the whole world, but our country can't handle people that come into our country illegally. And they want to give them full health care benefits. They want to open the wall again. Can you believe it?
I can't even believe it. They want to open the wall. They haven't taken away boys playing in women's sports. They haven't done that. Men playing in women's sports. It's like they they don't change. They lost an election in a landslide and they don't change. He was also a very divisive figure. And I can I can I talk? Can I talk? Thank you. Look, >> we saw it was on full display. They open it up with perhaps the most performative woke thing you can do. A land acknowledgement.
>> Really? You're going to say this is on stolen land? If you think it's on stolen land, if you think it's on stolen land, then give it back. This is like build an $850 billion million dollar library on it. The other thing is I know I I I I like the idea that United Americans, but I don't think most conservatives conservatives who were targeted by the IRS, nuns who were told they had to pay for abortions and contraceptives and he he was talking about he's a very eloquent speaker. I think there's a lot of things to credit him for. I'm saying, >> you know, and I actually I will credit him for this as well. He said that he thinks America is great today. I think he said uh the US is an undeniable force for good in the world. And I was glad to hear him say that because when he was in office, he would go on these sort of tours essentially apologizing for America.
>> I'm really just really focused on this.
When you say that President Obama is one of the most divisive presidents in history, that's something that you guys can never back up. You never can bring up any substance. It's a talking point that you guys always say. So to Aby's point, what specifically are you referring to when you say he's one of the most divisive presidents in history?
He did not invite Millie Vanelli to the library party today or Vanilla Ice or CNC Music Factory. That's a difference from the American 250.
>> Have that on my >> American. That is very true. Next for us.
>> Trump has cheated on every wife he's had. He He met Mara Maples while he was still married to the mother of his children, Ivana. It was all over the New York papers. I'm I'm from New York, upstate New York, but I I was in New York at the when this all went down the city.
>> And um >> Barack Obama said we need to be united >> for millions of people in this country and around the world. The future feels uncertain, the ground unstable beneath our feet.
It's tempting to give in to cynicism and even despair. MAGA group and Donald Trump got very very angry.
How How did he invite other former presidents?
>> Folks, Donald Trump is profoundly jealous of Barack Obama because Obama had a presidency that the vast majority of Americans continue to admire to this day. And because when Obama was in office, he had a cultural relevancy that Donald Trump could only dream of. And Trump is obsessed with being culturally relevant. It's why he keeps trying to manufacture a legacy for himself and inserting himself into every cultural moment that we have. He keeps slapping his names on buildings like the Kennedy Center. He's throwing this stupid UFC fight at the White House. He showed up and disrupted the Knicks game earlier this week where the Knicks is the only game that they lost in the stretch that they were on. He keeps doing this stuff and it's because he's jealous of Barack Obama. And so I thought about shooting a video today showing you all the stupidity coming out of Washington with all these ridiculous events that they're doing. And instead of that, I want to take a look back. Donald Trump posted a picture of himself as the Messiah, as Jesus Christ, as whoever you want to call him, if you believe in that. If there's one thing you need to understand about MAGA is that they're all Christian. Whether they are Catholic, whether they are white Christian nationalist, or whether they are evangelical, they're all Christian. So when the president of the United States posts himself as Jesus in an AI image, that's not going to farewell with 97% of your base, then to further mock the Pope and talk about the Pope and attack him like he's your enemy and he's a politician, that's also not going to sit well with your Irish Italian constituent. When asked about the photo he posted, he confirmed that he posted it and then he said, "I didn't think it was Jesus. I thought I was a doctor. I thought I was just playing along with the red cross.
>> Mr. President, did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ?
>> Well, it wasn't depicted. It was me. I I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there, which we support. And uh only the fake news could come up with that one. So, I I had uh I just heard about it and I said, "How do they come up with that? It's supposed to be me as a doctor making people better."
And I do make people better. I make people uh a lot better.
>> You done lost your damn mind. WHEN YOU GET YOUR DAMN MIND, YOU CALL ME.
>> Trend that we're on a slippery slope of Donald Trump losing his base. First step was the war. Second step was gas prices being through the roof. Third, he went online and attacked Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly, and all of the people. And now he's mocking Jesus, calling himself Jesus, basically like he's the Messiah, and making fun of the Pope online. not making fun of, attacking the pope online. This comes on the heels of America having one of the worst negotiations with Iran with Iran basically getting everything they wanted and the ceasefire. They're making billions of dollars. America unfroze billions of assets that they had.
They're making money off every ship in the straight of Hormuz. Yet the president is sitting here lying about winning the war that he started. He said that America is going to create a blockade to block the blockade that Iran already started.
Thing that has always killed me about these people is that they believed in Trump for racism.
They only believed him in him for racism. It was only for the white national white nationalist identity. It wasn't for religion. Trump's not a religious person. And now he's mocking your religion. And now you're mad. But you guys voted him in. This is what you voted for. And that's what's happening today in the world.
The boyfriend come back and you know how I know because on all the food come back I hope you're doing Okay. So, the reason I'm a little bit teeyed is I've just watched the power of Michelle.
Today is the official resisting >> and I've just watched the food.
>> Okay. You know, I don't support everybody, but I was looking for a blackowned beauty supply store, AND Y'ALL, WE FOUND >> A FEW THINGS HAPPEN.
>> This is it right here. Now, I did have to travel a minute to get here, but that's okay. I'm always open to traveling for food, so I'm going to travel to get all my beauty supply needs. She got a sign that says, "Welcome." That is the owner.
That's the owner.
>> Yes.
>> Yes. And tell us the name of it.
>> Yes. And so Yes. Let me just say this to you guys. Not only is it a beauty supply store, but she also has a station for like braiding. She has all of these.
LOOK AT THIS, GUYS. LOOK, LOOK, LOOK, LOOK, LOOK. So everything that you've been wanting, looking for, look, is all right here. And you know what?
She said she's been here 20 months or so. So listen, listen, pretty people.
>> Michelle's book as well.
>> We know about all of this. Now, of course, >> follow the So we have a variety of course lace front wigs. Look at this. Look at this.
Oh, and she also has where she's going to have brows. So, if you know someone, skin care, everything, a one-stop shop.
And I'm so excited. I found this location. I was looking I was on TT looking for something like this. Let me flip the camera. There we go. So, you know, if I tell you that this is a place you need to visit because we've been looking >> Trump is a scammer from Queens, New York, who was commonly referred to as Don the Khan, who scammed his way through not paying contractors, defaulting on loans, and bankrupting casinos. A man with multiple baby mamas and a daughter he refuses to acknowledge. So, it's no shock to me that he hired a fellow criminal to redo the reflecting pool. This is the man whose company was hired to do the reflecting pool. And no, it isn't a Halloween costume.
>> I beg your pardon.
>> His name is John J. Karafo and is a wealthy Republican donor whose firm Greenwater Services was awarded a $ 1.7 million no bid contract to install a water purification system in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. To no surprise, he's a felon and previously pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and bribery charges in 2001. So, the pool was supposedly painted and fixed, but days after they filled it back up, the water turned a toxic pine, and the $14 million blue sealant started ripping apart and floating to the top. Right now, park service crews are literally out there in boots dumping hydrogen peroxide into the basin, trying to kill the bloom. The excuses are wild. Trump blamed it on vandalism.
>> What, bro? What are you talking about, man?
Now, the contractor is saying that the green water actually means the technology is working because it flushed out decades of old algae out of the pipes.
WHY WAS SHE SAYING THAT?
>> MEANWHILE, independent scientists are saying that the dark blue color Trump picked is absorbing sunlight, baking the water, and acting as a massive incubator for algae. So, a rush timeline, no oversight, millions in no big contracts to political donors, and a total environmental disaster on America's front yard. That sounds like a scam to me. And if there's one thing about a scammer, they're always going to push the limits of how far they can scam before we push back.
Ciao.
