Regional conflicts can significantly complicate international diplomatic efforts, as demonstrated by Israel's military operations in Lebanon which threaten the success of peace talks brokered by Pakistan between the US, Israel, and Iran, highlighting how ongoing military actions can undermine diplomatic negotiations and regional stability.

Israeli forces make historic push inside Lebanon and complicate an Iran dealAñadido:
What's happening in Lebanon, and why is it potentially critical for the whole world? [music] On Wednesday, the Israeli military said it launched its heaviest ever strikes across Lebanon, hitting 100 targets in just 10 minutes [music] alone. That's killed more than 250 people and injured over 1,000 others, according to the Lebanese authorities.
>> [music] >> Footage taken from the ground in places like Beirut to the east and Bekaa and in the south was horrifying. We were speaking to witnesses, including the wounded from their own hospital beds, and they described the bombardment like a ring of fire and [music] an earthquake. Now, this all happened just a few hours after Pakistan announced that it had successfully brokered a truce between the US, Israel, >> [music] >> and Iran. A truce, it said, included Lebanon.
This was refuted immediately afterwards by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. [music] Israel said it was targeting Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and said that this was part of its ongoing war. Since then, Israel has been continuously bombing Lebanon.
>> [music] >> The concern is that this is not only going to exacerbate an already existing humanitarian catastrophe in Lebanon, but could actually [music] scupper those peace talks, which are due to start in just a few days in Islamabad.
I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the conflict in the Middle East has had an unprecedented impact on the world. [music] We've already seen the worst disruptions to global energy supplies in history. We've seen major transport hubs like the Doha and the Dubai airports close. [music] All of us have felt this. Our energy bills have been soaring over the last few weeks. [music] Everything is dependent on those talks, which are due to start imminently. The hopes for these talks actually resulting in a workable peace plan are already pretty [music] slim. There's massive differences between what all sides want out of it, >> [music] >> including who's going to control the Strait of Hormuz, what's going to happen to Iran's nuclear program, and its ballistic missile capabilities.
>> [music] >> Putting any external pressure onto those talks is going to make that job even even harder. And so the fear is if Israel [music] keeps bombing Lebanon, those talks won't be successful. And the hopes for peace for the region and for the world will only [music] be further away.
