Technology makes each generation smarter because when people are curious about something, they can immediately look up answers, and this curiosity triggers the right cocktail of neurotransmitters that helps information stick in memory.

How Technology Is Making Us Smarter | Dr. David EaglemanAjouté :
Every time a new technology comes along, people always worry about this. Like when the printing press came out in 1440, people said, "Oh my god, the answer's just sitting there on the shelf. How are kids going to learn?
They're going to be so stupid cuz they can just go and look up the answer anytime they want." Of course, obviously with the internet, people said the same thing and so on. In my opinion, kids are going to be much smarter with each generation because as soon as they're curious about something, they just look it up and they get the answer. And the reason that matters is because when you are curious about something, you have the right cocktail of neurotransmitters present so that that sticks.
