The Office of the Solicitor General has confirmed that there is no legal impediment to enforcing the International Criminal Court warrant of arrest against Senator Bato dela Rosa, as the Supreme Court's refusal to issue a temporary restraining order demonstrates that the senator failed to meet the baseline legal requirements for an injunction, specifically the inability to demonstrate a clear and unmistakable right needing immediate shield.

SolGen: 'No legal impediment' to serve ICC warrant of arrest vs. Bato | INQTodayAdded:
The office of the solicitor general says local and international authorities can already implement the international criminal court warrant of arrest against senator bat de la roa. This follows the supreme court's refusal to issue a temporary restraining order to stop the enforcement of the ICC warrant. The Supreme Court earlier voted 951 to deny the Larosa's request for interim relief.
Meanwhile, his main case remains pending. Though SG says the court's denial of the temporary restraining order confirms there is no legal barrier to enforcing the ICC warrant. The Rosas camp had earlier asked the Supreme Court for a TTRO after the OMBbudsman revealed that the ICC had already issued a warrant for his arrest. In its comment submitted on May 16, the OSG said Lar Rosa failed to meet the baseline legal requirements for an injunction. The government state lawyers pointed out that the senator could not demonstrate a clear and unmistakable right needing immediate shield.
The office of the ombbudzman says its investigations into senator Jesuso and later representative Martin Rmaldez in connection with alleged corruption and flood control projects are now in the preliminary stage. man Jesus Christine Remula earlier said the plunder cases would be filed against Escuadero in Ramaldes this month on Thursday May 21.
Assistant ombbudsman Miko Clavano says that the ombbudsman panel ordered Escodero to submit a counter affidavit.
Escodero and Ramaldes previously led the Senate and the House of Representatives during the 19th Congress and briefly in the 28th Congress. Escodero was removed as Senate President on September 8, 2025 while Raldez stepped down as House Speaker 9 days later. Upon the request of the ombudsman last month, the Sandigan Bayan has since issued a precautionary whole departure order against Escodero in Rwaldes.
The Philippine National Police denies manipulating security footage of the shooting incident at the Senate last week. In a statement on Thursday, May 21, PNP Chief General Jose Melenion Artes Jr. says the footage presented by authorities is authentic, timestamped, and directly sourced. The issue stemmed from claims by suspended Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Malaska that the footage shown by authorities had been selectively edited. During a palace briefing on Tuesday, May 19, Narate, an interior and local government secretary John Vikramula presented CCTV footage that contradicted Senate President Alan Peter Kayano's claim that the Senate was under attack. Alaska, however, insisted that the footage shown by the authorities had been spliced. Alaska also maintained that he fired only one warning shot. Meanwhile, Nartis emphasizes that the footage formed a part of the official evidence gathered during the investigation. He adds that the BNB is committed to conducting a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation. The PNP criminal investigation and detection group has since recommended filing charges against Applas and two other Senate security personnel for alleged violations of the Private Security Services Industry Act.
Senator Irwin Tulfo is disputing Senator Piaanu's claim that no one from the minority block checked on members of the majority after the May 13th shooting incident inside the Senate complex on Thursday, May 21. Tulfo says several senators actually sent messages in their group chat that night. He says members of the minority block including senators Kiko Pangalinan Pamakino and Sherman Gachalyan sent messages in their group where senators from both the majority and minority blocks communicate. Tulfo says he does not know why Kayano claimed that nobody checked on them after the incident. Kayano became emotional during the Senate session on Wednesday, May 20.
She said some colleagues did not check on her after the shooting incident.
Kayana said it deeply hurt her that nobody reached out to ask how she was doing.
