Leadership decisions such as mass firings disproportionately affecting women and people of color, along with controversial policy choices like deploying troops domestically, can significantly demoralize military personnel by creating uncertainty about career prospects, questioning the purpose of service, and raising ethical concerns about legal compliance.

Morale is Collapsing
Added:Are you worried about morale in the US military right now? Picking up on this point, when Hegseth does this kind of thing, it flies in the face of the reality. I'm not sure that many get off on his chest-thumping and bragging about about war crimes and no quarter for the enemy and no stupid rules of engagement.
Surely there have to be second thoughts among those deployed about why they are why they are fighting. I mean, I'm not sure I'm hearing it. I'm hearing folks saying, "What is this for?" Yeah. To be honest, the thing I'm hearing the most, two things, are one that the cut firings of people, particularly the 60% of the firings have been women and people of color, just are very demoralizing for women and people of color who are like, "Am I ever going to I I dreamt of being an admiral.
I dreamt of being a general. Am I going to be considered a DEI hire no matter how well I do, no matter how much merit proves I should be in the position? Is it now impossible for me to get the job?" They're seeing their heroes and people who trained them from baby baby, you know, officers being fired.
So, I think that's affecting morale. And then I think certainly I was hearing a lot about it when the you know, they were sending federalized troops to places like LA and thinking about sending them to you know, Chicago or other places when we were doing the boat strikes with more regularity in the Caribbean, I was hearing from folks in active duty who were like, "What if I'm asked to do something that I know isn't legal? Like, what should I do, Senator?"
Like, people who I've worked alongside my whole life were asking me that. A bunch of us did a video because I was hearing so much about this. So, I just I think morale is definitely an issue
