Added:here of the famous rabbis of yesterday year and we're actually approaching the 5th of Tamos over here. It's Markula of Ysef Ganessia, famous rabbi of his time. Uh Rabbi, we did record a presentation about I believe uh when we started the series pretty much more than three uh more than three years ago I believe if I'm not mistaken. So to give his full title it was Ysef Ben David Ganessio. We'll explore a bit more within regards to him maybe a few informations that we didn't touch upon originally. He was born actually in 1879 I think on the 23rd of November and he passed away on 7th of July 1962. We're talking about 64ish years ago from this time and that was a hate tamuz of that year. He'd gone to become a judge pekk a rabbi that will uh render different Jewish laws. He was a translator, he was a poet, he was a proofreader, a famous rabbi in constant time in Algeria. He'd go on to become a chief rabbi of that vicinity and a rasha if I'm not mistaken inside the city and he would write to more than 130 writings which will let's says with regards to language Hebrew Arabic Judeo Arabic history Jewish history philosophy and kabala and so on and so forth let's explore a few of the highlights of his life. So, uh yeah. So, what's interesting he would I think would be a translator within regards to Judeo Arabic on important books.
I think he would actually wrote some writings in which was divided into 15 volumes in constant time if I'm not mistaken. The mission of the Rambam, the Sepham, I think it was printed in Jer in 1946.
This was in 1938 to 1955 in 26 uh pamphlets or 26 volumes and booklets.
He would translate history of a book of Kagonimos if I'm not mistaken from the time period of ben Matiu. Uh he do a translation I think that was printed in 1912 in Tunisia.
This was including the Aaton uh of the famous uh I think man of the name Aram Mapo if I'm not mistaken that was printed in Gerber in 1962. Who was Aram Mapo? He was someone else quite uh famous in of his day. He was Abraham Maple to give his full title. Born in 1808 to 1867 and he was a Lithuanian novelist that wrote in Hebrew and uh yeah very interesting. So maybe we'll speak about him [snorts] at a later stage. That's something that we'll have to you know possibly uh point out of its own right friends. Okay. He would write more works also. He would uh was a man of education was connected to networks at school in Right. various different books. Let's just say for students in city philosopher philosophy works [snorts] French Aramaic I think in in 1926 [snorts] So he was really really writing right Algeria as it was a time period where of change in Jewish community let's just say we was modernizing that point in That point the French army and Arabic I think this was in the year 1830 if I'm not mistaken. Very very interesting enough was very much into Zionism in Algeria.
after the formation of mid land of Israel.
So it could be quite close to we speak about in a minute also with the present come 1962 come to Israel at that point in time.
So would actually go to that place.

So they say over here who passed away inside that I think that in the same year I think it was only a month after he he actually made aliyah uh was on 7th of July in 1962.
I think his son was a famous robber Rabbi Daniels who would continue his ways I think being a rabbi in constant and also in demon if I'm not mistaken. So that's uh very very uh interesting enough. Now we mentioned two key rabbis before who I would like to uh speak about for a minute. Rob Uziel, he was Ben who he have a connection with was a chief rabbi of Israel I think from 1939 and then between 1948 to 1953 actually was on 24th of L if I'm not mistaken and we spoke about a lot about him beforehand. His father was Rah Rafael uh Ysef Rafael Uziel who was a president of the Jewish court over there and uh yeah very very interesting there was connections David Kazan Rafael Ysef Kazan and he gone to become one of the famous rabbis he was a chief rabbi uh for 10 years also which we have to point out and a rabbi in Saluniki between 1921 to 1923 between Rob Yak and Rob Emanuel Bordeaux and he was a chief rabbi also of Tel Aiv if I'm not mistaken all the way between 1923 to 1936 for 13 years that'll be followed by Rab Yokov Moshe Tidano if I'm not mistaken and uh eventually he'll become head rabbi in Israel have to point out between 1939 to 19 uh 53 much has been said about him I'd recommend everyone to watch over those previous videos we recorded about him he was actually rabbi of famous rabbi rabbi David Schlush Rabbi Ezra another famous great great rabbi of his time one of the great ones if I'm not mistaken who gone to become a uh chief rabbi actually a rabbi in bet she very interest Abraham Shalem was another one is another one who's I think Abraham David Shalem was a rabbi in sit if I'm not mistaken in various other places also hopefully maybe will uh say a word within regards to him also at one stage in time I'll just check if we did record a video a presentation within regards to ram I think it's very very important important to know and anyone tuning in live at the moment.
Welcome to our community as we're exploring few of the highlights of great chief rabbi of Algeria of his time.
Yeah, I think we did record a video about Ra Abram Shalm uh not so long ago if I'm not mistaken. But uh yeah, very who was that was one of his students. He was actually chief rabbi of in Peru and Mexico I think if I'm not mistaken. He was very famous. He learned in uh he actually lived in the kapim neighborhood if I'm not mistaken and uh I think the family actually came from Saloniki if I'm not mistaken and he learned it is he learn and really take on importances in its own right and uh I think it was quite closer to the famous robon who was a mashk of yes if I'm not mistaken and the rashisha of yeshivat if I'm not mistaken and was author of great books in now he was also close if I'm not mistaken to another famous rabbi not sorry not a rabbi president of Israel Benvi who lived between 1884 to 1963 he was a president of Israel and he was a historian you know turn right he has a famous uh publishing house we have to point out over here and uh he was decorated many many prizes himself this president was it was a kabesset between 1949 9 to 1952 also which is interesting to point out but he was a historian and uh yeah we did record a video with regards to Benv on a previous occasion with yeah so yes it is quite late at night so I will definitely have to point [snorts] that out over here in the first place so Rob Ysef Genezia there's much chronicled about him I think the famous Ysef Charit who's a famous historian has written a lot about him He had Ysef himself happens to be a professor if I'm not mistaken on the Jewish community in itself the previous generations I think connected to Bartan University and uh someone very very famous he was actually born in Algeria also so naturally it will be very uh let's say hot topic just to learn about great Algerian rabbis and he's authored many many books but he chronicles a lot over within regards to Rav Ysef Geneio now we're going to explore a few more highlights within regards to him in the coming minute remember he was born in 1879 passed away in 1962. One of the great rebels of Algeria during his time especially 20th century was a dian. He was posk he was a community leader. He was humble and very sharp in halaka. He was a chief rabbi of continent time in Algeria and wrote many many terror works on the shas as we said before on the poskim on the minim right and uh yeah was absolutely phenomenal in turn right. So uh and was very Zionistic Rabbi also. Now friends, everyone we're going to take a short break from here.
We are going to explore a bit more within regards to the famous rabbi's life. So please be patient over here and we're going to explore a few more highlights over here friends. So we'll be back in a minute, friends. And remember friends, if any of you are tuning in live over here for the first time, welcome to our community. Uh and uh please also don't forget to uh watch over all the previous videos we've recorded because we've got a lot of phenomenal content over here on our channel and uh we like to explore to educate especially Jewish history is a favorite of ours over here. So uh and really really going from strength to strength. We've already recorded I believe more than about a,500 rabbis if I'm not mistaken history videos within regards to them. So, uh, it's [snorts] absolutely phenomenal in of its own right.
So, uh, yeah, we're going to take a short break for a minute and, uh, we'll be back in a minute, friends.
Yeah.
All right.
Hi shalom everyone. thanks for being patient over here as we're exploring a few of the highlights of the famous Rabbi Ysef Ganessia who was a great rabbi of his time and uh very very uh great and uh yeah if you're tuning in for the first time don't forget to subscribe to the channel as we've got some phenomenal uh content over here friends so uh welcome and uh yeah let's continue over here we're speaking a bit uh we're speaking now we were saying some information over we're using now the haimey website we're just reading some stuff from Wikipedia Let's explore bit about his family history. Also the my sadic website in its own right. Now I think they list his on the tamos as opposed to uh uh I think on Wikipedia it says it's the fifth of tamos. So there's uh I'm not sure if it was fifth or the eighth of tamos. If it's right he was uh his his father's name was David Kessia and his mother's name was Marat Zahir if I'm not mistaken. He would get married to Rabanita Rose Bendikia if I'm not mistaken. would have children including Rab Daniel who we mentioned about before Rab David Yehuda and Yakov and among his daughters was Helen Zuli I think I hope I pronounced the name Cecil for and if I'm mistaken his brother was Benjamin and Ra is uh among his sisters was I'm not too sure if that's three separate people or not apologies his grandfather from the side of his father's side was Raania and from his mother's side was Raban's Saffron if I'm not mistaken his educator was famous Rabbi Davidid Cohen and he would have a star student someone named Rabbi Mik Sharit now mentioned the family just beforehand interesting enough so uh which is uh very very interesting so Rabbi Mik I think was also a famous uh rabbi if I'm not mistaken at stage in time if I've got the same they say kash I think it was connected to and just someone giving some stories over here on one of the history websites in of its own rights. That's something >> [snorts] >> uh I have to point out. I think he had connections with France also if I'm not mistaken and uh would become I think head rabbi in France if I'm not mistaken between 1962 to 1970 and uh yeah very very interesting we'll try and uh record maybe a presentation about him at one stage in time if we can find more information uh okay so he as before he was born in 24th learned in the famous one over there and he was the dian along with riddimi and Rabbi Shimon Dan if I'm not mistaken. So that's uh very very interesting. Let's say a word about Rafidi.
I think we did record a couple of videos within regards to him. He was also a famous head rabbi in Algeria [snorts] in his actually I think with a uh someone that was connected to him in his own right. He was actually nicknamed the Baba la Aiz city for our jelly was he was a let's say also a main leader in the continental his reputation spread across the country also in the Jewish community in France had correspondence with great rabbis in European countries if I'm not mistaken and he was one of the most revered figures of Algerian Judaism in France and in Israel and I think actually even got a legion of honor at one stage in time. He was actually born in 1876 and uh yeah he if I'm not mistaken he was close to uh Rabbi he was related obviously to Rabbi Abraham Limi I think if I'm not mistaken uh was his father if I'm not mistaken he studied in yeshiva Torah Gamarra Halaka Hagada and become a head of Jewish court Dian at one stage in time had a great personality if I'm not mistaken and uh had great devotion also to the community was close to many of the Raonim in Tunisia and he [snorts] actually got married to Raan Bon if I'm not mistaken had eight children seven daughters I think a son Ab shalom if I'm not mistaken so that's uh very uh I think all [snorts] his children would leave Algeria in the early 60s following obviously Algeria's independence mostly would settle in Paris and Marseilles regions and some would end up in Israel also so he was a key rabbi that was quite close to Raine Nessia, we have to point out there was also Rabbi Shimon Don if I'm not mistaken. Another famous uh rabbi. I think that was actually his brother-in-law if I'm not mistaken according just to uh somewhere I'm reading over here. I'm not too much too sure much information within regards to him. But uh it was definitely somehow connected to Rob Ganessia that's for sure. He was appointed a chief rabbish community of continent. He was named the head of uh yeshiva oftim as we said before and uh with all the different languages in its own rights and uh would teach very much become a great educator inside the school system in Algeria in of its own right. So that's something that we have to point out and we spoke about many of his works and writings in its own right. So uh very very interesting. He got one different prizes across Saddok if I'm not mistaken on Tarum uh of the Rambam in Arabic Judeo Arabic if I'm not mistaken as before he he went to make aliyah init into demon as we mentioned about beforehand if I'm not mistaken. So that's a very very interesting there's a lot chronicled over [snorts] in the Hebrew books uh presentations within regards to him also. So that's something uh I have to point out also especially binano a famous book of his published in 1927 containing 105 pages that was printed actually in Jerba it's got the name of Ravi Yakov Khad and Ra Davididan also on the se on the front page if I'm not mistaken. So that is also very very uh that that's also very very interesting.
Friends, friends, anyone tuning in live, welcome to our community over here here on this special edition as we're exploring a few of the highlights of Rob Ysef Genezia who was a very famous rabbi of his time, head rabbi in Algeria and someone we've spoken about over here on this uh presentation on various occasions before friends. So it's not the first time and there's a lot of information you can actually find about him uh in various places online. So I recommend everyone to uh actually [snorts] look into that and uh yeah how important actually is and we're a channel that does explore the history of great oriental rabbis of yesterday the year.
So that's something to have to point out. So don't uh forget to join our community, subscribe, learn more and uh you know what a privilege it is to explore the history of great famous that there were of yesterday year over here.
And I'm just uploading as we speak at the moment a picture on him on the thumbnail over here of this live presentation that we are giving over. If any of you do descend from him, I'll be fantastic to hear more information. So please don't forget to uh let me know and I really really appreciate it. Now the Haimei website also does chronicle some have a whole section within regards to him once again saying that his father was Davidid and uh I was born according to another opinion was born in the month of here on the alian on the website but obviously it was in con if I'm not mistaken and uh obviously just reaffirming he'd gone to become a head of Jewish court chief rabbi also and a rabbi of tamutara and uh rabbi very much part of the etsim in of its own Right.
So actually do a translation theft in of it own rights. That's uh very very interesting. He he would take on uh many more let's just say importances in it own right. He stories and history connected to the French army.
He had a connection with school network.
I think he would give an approval if I'm not mistaken. And uh yeah, very very interesting interest. I think in 1962 before I think was an eighth of Tamils according to this opinion in 1962 he passed away and he was buried in demon if I'm not mistaken and uh he would leave behind great Torah books as before about more than 300 publications including Zeva the Shilra also [snorts] there was an important uh let's just say writings in its own right and there's many highlights also within regards to uh his book actually featured over here on the homie website which I recommend everyone to actually read and look at the article uh about about him over there I think the morishit Morocco website and the national library of Israel will chronicle over informations within regards Friends, we're going to be back. Taking a short break for a minute. We'll be back in another minute, friends. So, please uh be patient and uh yeah, wait a minute, please over here and we'll be back.
Yes. So, back in the friends in a minute, friends, please.
Hi shalom everyone. Thanks for being patient over here as we're exploring a few of the highlights of great rabbis of yesterday year. So if this is first time friends you are watching this live uh welcome to our community and uh as we are exploring about great rabbis and uh yeah thanks very much. Okay, let's continue over here friends. Uh the small story says Morishet Moroco website which talks about uh the great rabbi over here. Uh as said before he was a chief rabbi of Constantinatan. He was a posk.
He was a translator. He was a proofreader. He was an author of 130 plus books in of it and many many languages in it right. He would do Algeria.
for saying right Algeria just giving a uh a [snorts] let's just say in of it right and they uh now it's interesting if I'm not mistaken he was there was other famous rabbis at that point in time uh other rabbis that would overlap his life include the famous rabbi Ashkanazi if I'm not mistaken he was a famous rabbi of his day so we have to point and uh he was actually nicknamed the Monito if I'm not mistaken. He lived between 1922 to 1966. He was an educator. He was also a proof reader and a spiritual leader in of its own right in Algeria and uh I think his father was also the last chief rabbi of Algeria if I'm not mistaken. Rav Leon Ashkenazi's uh one he was also a philosopher in of his own right. Rob Ashkenazi was and uh was this I think later on will take on various importances and was seen as a very very pivotal person worldwide. We have to point out Rabbi Yehuda Leon Ashkenazi. So he was a head rabbi over there. We did record a video about him.
I think it was around Sukkot time period. He was a spiritual leader of 20th century French jewelry in Tonra. He was actually born in Oruran if I'm not mistaken. His father was Robert David Ashkenazi who was a chief rabbi. I think one of their ancestors was famous Rabbi Yseph Iben Tubel if I'm not mistaken and Rabbi Asher Benjahel if I'm not mistaken he actually studied in yeshiva [snorts] uh gone to learn Kabal in Marakekesh also philosophy various other languages and uh yeah was seen as very very crucial rabbi thought a thinker in of its own right and a public a rabbi that will very very much publish public publicize and publish many of his works as so before his father was Rabbi David Ashkenazi was a chief who was also a head rabbi in Algeria for his time had connection probably with Rav Ganessia.
He lived between 1898 to 1983. He gone to become the rabbi of Algeria, French Algeria and rabbi in Oruran. That's a different area than to what Rav Ganessia was in specifically. And uh yeah, I think he would actually open the eta if I'm not mistaken in 1928 teaching Brit Hebrewit in of its own right. And he was actually quite close to the famous Rabbi David Scali if I'm not mistaken, another great rabbi. And uh yeah, he would go on to become the rabbi of Uran for 28 years and chief rabbi of Algeria for 4 years.
Uh I think afterwards or maybe before was Moshe better. I'll have to double check that if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, I think it was just beforehand. And uh he actually printed a famous short with Robert Ara Moshe Fingerhot in [snorts] 1964. Some someone else we did speak about here inside the series. It was actually after Ra Mosha Eisenbat had passed away then rakinazi would become the chief reb of Algeria. Remember Ra Moshe Eisenbat was a rabbi historian French Algerian also in its own right of constant constantin in Alger and become a chief rabbi of Algeria in of his own right and Rob David Ashkanazi had well decorated family he got married to Robin Rael his daughter uh [snorts] if I'm not mistaken Katsby so I think [snorts] Katsby remember Katsby was another let's see key rabbi of that point in time someone else that we did speak about uh uh previously and uh yeah Raim Katsby just to clarify lived between 1787 to 1867 he was rabbi in Algeria also but in Clemson if I'm not mistaken also rabbi of an was rashiva of yakob inside the city and was author of the was now he was actually a talent he was uh yeah he was very very great rabbi. He was connected to Shaki family, the Shukran family, the family, the Aan especially Raban Moshan and I think his grandson was a famous if I'm not mistaken who was who would go on to become a uh rabbi in Clemson in his own right uh respectively someone else that we uh I think we did mention about we did record a presentation about on a previous occasion friend so that's uh very very interesting and uh yeah if this is the first time any of you are watching this live, welcome to our community as we're really going from strength to strength over here. We hope we can do more content over here in the due clock and uh yeah, very very important. So if you do descend from any of the great rabbis that we happen to be speaking about over here inside this series, friends, please don't hesitate, send me an email. I would love to hear more information. There's more on the Hebrew books website within regards to him I have to point out over here.
And uh yeah, very very interesting.
Okay, so we speaking about Rav Yosf Ganessia. If you've got more information, please let me know. I think on that note, we are going to call it a day. It is quite late now. And uh wishing you shabbat shalom and thanks for watching. Thank you.
