In blast furnace operations, flux stone (limestone and dolomite) is essential for producing usable slag; without it, coke ash and pellet gangue alone create slag with 85% silica content, melting point exceeding 1590°C, and viscosity too high to flow, whereas adding 130 kg/t HM of flux stone reduces melting point to 1350-1450°C, viscosity to 2-5 P, and enables proper sulfur removal.

Why your furnace NEEDS flux追加:
So, imagine running your furnace with no flux stone.
Just coke ash and pellet gang. Here what happens, coke at 400 kilo per ton of hot metal gives you a 40 kilo of ash, 85% of that becomes slag, about 35 kilo made of 60% [laughter] silica and 40% alumina. So, that slag melt over 1590°, very high temperature. Then pellet add another 85 kilo of gang, so 90% silica, combine them without flux and you will get 120 kilo of slag. That's up to 85% silica.
Extremely high melting point, thick as glass, terrible sulfur removal. So, that's unusable. So, you add flux stone, 130 kilo of limestone and dolomite per ton of hot metal.
That blend gives you lime and magnesia.
So, now your slag volume hits the target of 250 kilos, melting point drop to 1350 to 1450°, viscosity fall to 2 to 5 poise, and sulfur capacity jumps.
Remember, no flux equals slag that would not flow. So, flux unlock the furnace.
Good flux, good slag, good furnace, and good
