Green Party leader, Zack Polanski, has apologized after admitting that he may owe some council tax relating to a houseboat that he owns. Polanski has said that he only ever stayed on this houseboat occasionally. But here's where it gets interesting. An advert for the boat reportedly said, "We are moving to a house and will sadly be leaving this community behind." How could you be part of a community if you only stay there occasionally, you might ask. So this has raised questions as to whether the houseboat was his main residence. Why does this matter? Because council tax depends on where you actually live. If a property, or in this case a houseboat, is your main residence, council tax may apply. But this controversy does not stop here because now there are questions about voter registration. Tax expert Dan Neidle argued that if Polanski wasn't living at the address that he was registered to vote at, this could create electoral law issues, too.

[00:00:52]The Green Party has now said, "Zack Polanski has taken steps to pay any council tax owed." I should hope so. The mistake was unintentional and that he's apologized.
