He exposes the glaring hypocrisy of modern healthcare providing "metabolically hostile" food to the very patients it aims to heal. It’s a vital reminder that institutional convenience should never override biological recovery.

This is very eye opening. Let me know what you think in the comments.
All right, come with me so I can show you what the cafeteria looks like at a well-respected hospital.
Haven't even walked through the front door yet and of course the vending machines outside have tons of ultra-processed foods filled with artificial sugar as well as sugary drinks and energy drinks. And once we walk into the cafeteria, first thing you see is a ton of sushi with a ton of desserts lined up as far as the eye can see. First stop, absolute staple, fried chicken and french fries. Next up, let's load you up with some caffeine and then give you some grandma's cookies. Oh, and we're in luck. They have every ice cream flavor known to man right in the middle of the cafeteria. Oh, you don't like ice cream? Well, here you go. We also have some smoothies you can get into. What else we got? Oh, yeah, pizza. Everybody knows that pizza is a wholesome healing food. We also have pasta, ton of bread, whatever that is, more sugary drinks with artificial dyes, also more energy drinks, of course, in case you missed it. Oh, yeah, let's put some more chips just in case you missed the first one. Oh, here's some Pop-Tarts, by the way. I don't think we had those up front. Oh, and if you're watching what you eat and want something homemade, we have some homemade cookies. Okay, are we getting to the healthy food part? This looks reassuring. Oh, no, right back to the candy right before you check out.
All right, now here's the thing. If you think the cafeteria is bad, you should actually see what the patients are getting in their rooms. Almost without fail, every single patient room that I walk into in every hospital that I've worked at has pancakes, syrup, barely any protein, sugary artificial fruit drinks in a plastic cup, and dessert on the side, every single time. And that's just the food. These patients also aren't getting any natural light. The windows don't open, they never go outside, sometimes for weeks on end while they're trying to recover. People are walking in and out of their rooms constantly. There's beeping in the hallway, beeping in the room around the clock. Look, I totally understand that a lot of this is unavoidable. Hospitals are super complex, infection control is real, staffing constraints are real, but I just want you to sit with that for a second. We're trying to heal people inside an environment that is metabolically hostile, sensory disruptive, protein deficient, and completely disconnected from the natural cues that the human body actually needs to recover. That's the sick care environment that we're living in and I think it's at least worth asking if we can just do 1% better.
