Chavez Ravine was home to three Mexican-American communities—Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop—that existed until the 1950s before being displaced to make way for Dodger Stadium; the speaker, who grew up near the stadium, recreated a historical map of these lost neighborhoods to preserve their memory and highlight the community displacement that occurred during the stadium's construction.

I grew up here, just a mile from Dodger Stadium.
Uh even though I was here all my childhood, I never knew of Elysian Park Heights.
I read that up until the 1950s, Elysian Park consisted of three Mexican-American communities: Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop, known today as Chavez Ravine.
And all are lost to time, buried underneath Dodger Stadium.
Families of all classes lived here, and most Angelenos still aren't aware of how they were wrongfully displaced. But that's a story for another day.
I thought to myself, what if they never got displaced and the communities grew and roads were paved? So I recreated the neighborhood map as it fit fit the city almost never built. And here it is.
Elysian Heights is at the top end of Boyston and Avalon, which is now Academy Road. They are at Chigas house at the end of Curdis Street and Malvina Avenue.
The church and elementary are on F and Paduca. On the lower half nice homes were along shoreline drive overlooking the valley. Top of the hill or lookout which sat behind the US Naval Armory had winding roads and trails overlooking downtown LA.
I'll make this map available to whoever wants it for reference or history or what could have been.
These communities no longer exist, but every time you go to a Dodgers game, remind yourself of the neighborhoods.
