[00:00:00]Let's go over to my first guest. She is talks international editor Isabelle Oakshot. Well, Isabelle, lots that we were going to talk about, but uh I think we have to concentrate on this. And uh Mark Rowley, we'll play uh some footage of him talking to camera in Golden Green in just a second. But as he was speaking, uh one member of the local Jewish community yelled, "Resign now."

[00:00:26]And I think what the fury is all about is that week after week, we still have these pro Palestinian marches uh that snake through the cities of this country. Uh and uh you know my position, I'm actually against banning them. But I am even more against the way the police do not police them. They allow these demonstrators, these protesters, these pro Palestine nutters to yell illegal slogans about Jews, about Israel, you know, uh, jihad, etc. The police just stand by and look, that has got to stop.

[00:01:01]We have to send a message. Uh, this cannot go on. And what we've seen this afternoon, the third serious incident in Gold's Green in about a month, as I say, just down the road from where I live. I know it very very well. Gold is Green has become the epicenter of our explosion of anti-semitism in this country. And now now we are calling for the government for bloody well do something. They've got to do something.

[00:01:29]>> I mean it is just so disgusting and grotesque that we're having to bring viewers this horrible, horrible story.

[00:01:39]Once again, the Jewish community targeted by terrorists. And this evening, it looks this afternoon, it looks as if an Iran linked group has claimed responsibility for this terror attack in Gold's Green.

[00:01:57]And only uh yesterday, I think it was, or in the last couple of days, we had this uh Iranian diplomat um being able to put out this call for um martyrs to the cause in the UK. What is it that our government does not understand about this extreme anti-semitic vein that is now running through our country? And you know, you and I have talked about this many times, Kev. I'm much more hardline than you are on these marches. I'm done with them. I think many most decent people in this country might not go as far as I would and say ban them, but I I think a lot of people would. You know, a lot of people are sick of seeing uh foreign flags, Palestinian flags, and extreme symbols on these marches. They are a stain on our country. And the Jewish community has been living in fear for two and a half years now or more. And you know whenever you talk to them uh representatives of the community or just ordinary Jewish people trying to live blameless innocent lives in our country they tell you quite openly that they live in fear of this thing every single day. What an absolutely damning indictment on our country that is.

[00:03:22]>> It certainly is. And uh let me tell you as well, I'm not going to die on a hill in our dispute about whether or not these uh marches should be banned. I mean, I'll go along with banning them since it seems that the police refuse to police them properly. I've witnessed them myself. They allow these pro Palestinians to call for the death of Jews, for the annihilation of the Israeli state, and so on. Jihad, jihad, jihad. And the cops just stand there looking. So if the police are going to carry on refusing to police these marches, then I will join you in calling for them to be banned. Uh before we carry on, uh Isabelle, this is Kia Starama. Kia Starama, the prime minister has called a Cobra meeting uh Cobra of course what is it? Corridor B, Room A, but it's an emergency meeting of the powers that be about what to do about this. So God knows what's going on in that meeting. But here's what Karmama had to say shortly after the attack which happened while he was actually in the House of Commons. So take it away, Prime Minister.

[00:04:30]>> Deeply concerning uh to uh everyone in this house. There is now a police um investigation and I think we all need to do everything we can to support that um investigation and be absolutely clear in our determination uh to deal with any of these uh offenses the like of which we've seen too much uh recently.

[00:04:51]>> Yeah. And what has he done about it? I mean that you know we're always hearing him about how shocked and horrified and this there is no place for this kind of anti-semitism in this country. That's the third time he's had to say that. In fact, the fourth time if you take in Manchester, you know, in less than a year, he has to keep saying this. What is he going to do? When will he do something?

[00:05:12]>> I mean, I I you those who are watching this will have seen, you know, the row the front bench just nodding along, you know, with their poker faces as if they can't imagine uh that this government could be doing anything more to stop the scourge of anti-semitism.

[00:05:29]The truth is that it is absolutely mushroomed like a poisonous fungy under their administration. And now we're in a place where they're acting as if this is some kind of surprise when the Jewish community would tell you that the only surprise is that more people haven't died so far. And here's another thing.

[00:05:53]Here's what we don't hear about. We don't hear about how many such plots our still brilliant intelligence services actually foil. I suspect if we knew how many plots they foil, we would be even more horrified and it would give a a great indication of the scale of this in our country. And let me add one more thing. With every boatload that comes over, every boatload that comes over the channel uh generally will contain several Iranians. Now, it isn't exclusively Iranian nationals who are linked to this sort of thing, but we know that they are linked to this sort of thing. They have been before. And here we are again in a place where Iran, a hostile state, is linked to terrorism on our shores. Wake up government. Wake up. This you are knowingly, negligently bringing in more people that may well be linked to this sort of thing.

[00:06:56]>> Yeah. Uh the home secretary Shabbana Mammud is saying we will strain every senue to keep to keep Jews safe. Hey Shabs, no you won't. You haven't so far and you won't again. This will happen again because this government won't do anything about it. And we know Labour's background when it comes to anti-semitism. You have to ask the question, is this government's heart really in keeping Jews in this country safe? I don't think it is.

[00:07:27]>> Well, let me answer the question. No, it isn't. Because if their heart really was in it, then they would have already strained every senue and we wouldn't have to hear those words because they would tell us what they've already done.

[00:07:40]And and in fact, what they'd already have done would have been so dramatic that we wouldn't need to be reminded of it because we would see it in a massive cultural change in our country of zero tolerance for these attitudes. Zero tolerance for extreme hate marches, zero tolerance towards any crime against the Jewish community. an approach towards that that is as zero tolerant as it is towards any supposed hatred to Muslims, to people of color, to other minority communities. How come it's okay to terrorize the Jewish community but not others? I don't get it.

[00:08:22]>> Exactly right. Uh it's once again it's a two-tier two tier Britain. uh there's a different treatment of our Jewish community to the rest of the country.

[00:08:32]Why does this government not go to the ends of the earth to keep uh Jews safe?

[00:08:37]Why do are they not that interested in protecting our Jewish uh citizens? It's because of this. It's because there's only 280 or so thousand of them and that doesn't add up to all that many votes.

[00:08:50]Uh meanwhile, there are 4 million Muslims. That's lots of votes and K star can't do enough for that community, can he? I'm getting sick of this, Isabelle.

[00:09:01]I really am.

[00:09:02]>> Oh, completely sick of it. I tell you what's happening as well. I mean, this won't come as a surprise to many people.

[00:09:08]A lot of Jewish people are just leaving the country. What a utter shame that is on us as a country. Jewish people are leaving. They are going back even to Israel. um even when it is constantly in a state of of conflict um they consider it's probably safer in their uh in their homeland as it were their original homeland. Do >> you know what upsets me about it? I mean I I live very close to this and I you know I live I live among the Jewish community if you like. So I know a lot of these people and I hate this expression but this narrative that you and I are involved in now. It sort of others the Jewish community as if they're somehow different from us. Oh, they're Jews. They're Jews, you know.

[00:09:49]No, no, no. These are British citizens.

[00:09:51]They've lived here. Some of my neighbors are like in their 60s. They've lived here all their lives. One of them has never been to Israel. Do you see what I mean? These are British citizens. And uh this government has got to get across that and start looking after them.

[00:10:07]>> Absolutely. Absolutely.

[00:10:09]>> Well, Isabelle, uh good to talk to you.

[00:10:29]Aren't you furious about this? I'm really furious about this. Got to stress this. You know, okay, they're Jews, but forget they're Jews. They're British. As I say, one of my neighbors is is about 65 years old. He says, "I've never been to Israel."

[00:10:46]He's but he's Jewish. But, you know, there's a a surprisingly small number of Jewish people in this country, you know, is less than fewer than 300,000.

[00:10:56]And I suspect I fear uh that this awful little man star and his awful government, they they're not that bothered because the this does not add up to very many votes for them. Uh your thoughts, folks? 03444991000.

[00:11:13]As I say, I'm a torn on this issue. Uh because I believe in freedom of expression, freedom to protest. Uh but as Isabelle was saying, do you think it is time now to just ban these pro Palestine marches? As I say, I wouldn't philosophically. In theory, in principle, I would never ban them, even though I don't agree with the protesters. Uh but since the police refused to police them, since the police let these marchers egregiously break the law all the time, jihad from the river to the sea, free Palestine, the these are they call for the annihilation of the Jewish state. They call for the death of Jewish people, you know, death, death to the IDF, all of this. Since the police just let them do this and they absolutely refuse to police these people, then is it time to say, "Sorry, these marches are banned.
