This video examines the case of Jeremy Darren Woodfort (Savage), a member of the 107 Hoover Crips in North Tulsa, Oklahoma, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on May 8, 2018. The investigation led to the arrest of Justin Render, who was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly driving the shooter to the scene. The case illustrates how gang violence creates cycles of retaliation and fear in urban communities, where individuals may face consequences for their affiliations even without serious criminal convictions, and how law enforcement investigates such crimes through witness testimony, vehicle identification, and investigative intelligence.

The Story of Savage from 107 HooverAdded:
Welcome back to another episode of Hood 187. Today we're diving into the story of Savage from 107 Hoover. Jeremy Darren Woodfort, born March 2nd, 1991, grew up in North Tulsa. Over time, he became associated with the 107 Hoover Crips.
The Hoovers came to Tulsa in the late 80s and turned the city into their playground. In the streets, he was better known by his nickname Sav, short for Savage, a name he earned during his teenage years because of his reputation for always running into trouble headon.
As Sav got older, he was also linked to the 57 Hoover block crypts and had connections with other Hoover sets, including the six Trey Hoovers. In Tulsa, the Hoovers often move with strong unity, similar in structure to their Los Angeles roots. While Savage was never convicted of serious gang rellated crimes, he did have minor legal issues such as public intoxication and driving on a suspended license. Still, his reputation alone made him a known figure, and that attention brought added danger from rival groups. On May 8th, 2018, violence caught up with him in North Garrison. Near the Gil Crease Expressway that Tuesday morning, a car pulled up beside him. A man wearing a blue hoodie leaned out and fired multiple shots before speeding away. Not long after, police found a crashed vehicle just a couple of houses from Jeremy's home. Witnesses identified him as Sav. Neighbors rushed to help and called 911, but were reportedly placed on hold twice. Witnesses said Jeremy opened the door of the car while badly wounded, bleeding heavily. Witnesses said Jeremy opened the door of the car while badly wounded, bleeding heavily.
One bystander later told police, "He gurgled and took a deep breath, and that's when I think he was gone." Jeremy was pronounced dead shortly after before officers arrived on scene. Some residents said they were not surprised, calling it another gang-lated shooting in a neighborhood where gun violence had become too common. The killing left the community shaken. Fear spread through the area and one homeowner even offered discounted rent to any police officer willing to live nearby hoping for more protection in the neighborhood. Whether any officer accepted that offer is unknown, but it showed just how serious the violence and gang tension in the area had become. The day immediately after the shooting, Tulsa Police Department homicide investigators arrived on scene, collecting shell casings, witness statements, and surveillance leads from nearby areas.
The focus quickly turned to the white Tahoe described by multiple witnesses, a key detail that would shaped the direction of the entire case.
Investigators began connecting information. That same vehicle description was tied to Justin Render, a man already known to local law enforcement. Detectives used witness identifications and investigative intelligence to establish Render as a suspect in connection with the shooting that left Savage dead. Render was officially identified as a suspect.
Police placed him on the Tulsa most wanted list, marking him as a priority target in a homicide investigation that was still developing evidence.
Authorities believed he had been involved as a driver in a coordinated attack that killed Savage, while another individual was believed to have fired the weapon. Following months of searching, Justin Render was eventually located and arrested in Tulsa. He was taken into custody and booked into the Tulsa County Jail, where he faced formal charges of first-degree murder connected to the drive-by shooting. When court proceedings began, prosecutors brought forward their case, laying out witness testimony, vehicle identification evidence, and investigative findings that place Render in the white Tahoe linked to the crime. The state argued he played a direct role in the events by driving the shooter to and from the scene. But the date the case concluded, Justin Render's prosecution in connection with the shooting of Savage had already moved through the Tulsa County court system on charges of first-degree murder tied to the 2018 driveby.
The date the legal process ended, the court record reflected that the case did not result in a publicly documented life sentence for render in connection with Savage's death. After Savage's passing, there were ongoing allegations of continued shootings between the neighborhood Crips and Hoovers in North Tulsa. Tulsa Hoovers from all over showed up to his funeral, filling the service to pay their respects. His casket was blue and orange. Colors tied to the Tulsa 107 Hoover block crypts.
Those who attended made it clear he won't be forgotten and his name will continue to be spoken among them. Thank you for watching another episode of Hood 187. If you enjoyed the video, don't forget to like and subscribe.
