When modifying a hot rod windshield, the total chop amount must be calculated by adding the original chop to any additional cuts, and the windshield frame and posts must be adjusted to match the specific vehicle body dimensions, as coupe bodies are wider than roadster bodies and require different mounting configurations to achieve proper proportions and fit.

I Took a Chopped Speedway Windshield and Cut It EVEN MOREAdded:
Welcome back, guys. It's that time of the week to work on the Model A. Today, we're going to work on the windshield.
This is a 2-in chop windshield frame that I bought from Speedway.
I'm going to be uh chopping off another 2 in And then over here are the windshield poles that my friend Mike Anderson from Sunnyside Speed Shop gave me. Going to be modifying them to uh make it work with my car. I think it's more fun and more meaningful to run parts that your friends gave you. But yeah, going to bring the car outside that way have more room to work.
Not sure what kind of bird it is on the left, but he's been yelling at the crow.
>> The crows will eat the eggs of those nesting birds.
>> Yeah.
>> And that's why they start fighting.
>> Ah, crazy.
Yesterday my new um column mount came in. So I installed it right there.
It's the right size. So now the column doesn't move anymore.
Shout out to Wilson Builds on YouTube.
He has a really good video on how to chop the windshield.
I'm going to do the same way that he did. What he did was pretty much take out the top piece and then uh slash cut this down about 2 in and then just put it back in and redrill the hole.
So right now it looks like this. I got to cut it more of a steeper angle so this can sit flush with it. I'm using this as a guide for the um angle.
Just got to match the uh the angle with it. And then we're good.
It's getting better.
This side is not bad, but this side I got to fix that.
This side is almost perfect.
All right.
Next, I'm going to be drilling a hole right here and a hole right here.
All right, got the holes drilled.
She's looking like who's that dark cat.
>> She's growing fast.
>> I know. Eight months now.
>> Dang.
>> I know, right? Quick.
>> And they happen to look like him.
>> All of them. Both of them.
>> Especially Sydney.
>> Yeah, I know.
>> Strong jeans.
>> I mean, luckily this >> You would have kept it in your jeans.
>> Luckily, this one's pale like me. So, she got something. I said for these kids, all they got were my eyebrows and my eyes. That's about it. Everything else.
>> That's what my wife goes cuz her cousin's Filipino, right? And she had a baby. And I go, "Oh, she's got your eyes." She goes, "You can't say that." I >> say, "You look like your daddy." Huh?
They say you look like Steer.
>> I thought so too. I think.
>> Yeah, I think it's Ford.
>> No, that one.
>> Yeah, it says Shell.
>> Old steering wheel. That That's an old steering wheel.
>> Yeah, it says Sheller. S H E L L E.
>> Okay, so let's see.
>> Sheller.
>> Founded 1960s. They ran through the 30s and 60s.
>> 1916.
>> Mhm. Founded.
>> Dang.
Classic.
>> Does that mark then? Huh?
>> No, this is original.
>> Oh, wow.
They made them through the 30s and 60s.
>> I knew I knew when I saw it. I told you it was like 30s, 40s.
>> Oh, yeah. There you go.
>> Yeah. Also a coupe the windshield is uh longer, so hopefully I don't have to extend the windshield.
>> Oh yeah. You got to look at it from this side.
That looks pretty.
>> When you mount it, that that that window is going to be safari, right? It's not going to be mounted at all to the body, >> which >> it'll swing.
>> Yes. Yes. So, it's going to be able to tilt.
>> All right. So, chopping the windshield was the easy part.
The challenging part is going to be getting the the post to fit right. This is meant for a roadster and for a coupe.
The body is a bit wider.
So hopefully I don't need to extend the windshield frame.
So going to play around with uh how I'm going to mount the post.
But yeah, this is what it looks like with a total of a 4 and 1/2 in chop windshield.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
All right, here's the current status of the car.
The windshield is not 100% complete yet.
I got to come back to it and modify a few things, but here it is.
So, the total chop for the windshield is uh 4 and 1/2 in. because I chopped an extra two and a half inch with a already two inch chop windshield.
And because my car is a coupe, it's a little bit wider than a Roadster. This windshield was meant for a 28 29 Roadster. That's why I had to um modify the post like this because if I didn't run this thing, there's going to be a huge gap between this and this. So, I kept it and I'll come back to it and I'll modify, make it look cleaner.
But yeah, like I said, I'm going to come back and finish the windshield mod, make it a little bit cleaner.
In the next video, I'm going to work on the radiator. Got to figure out how to mount it.
That way, I can chop the grill, make it work.
But yeah, so far so good. Car is coming together slowly.
And yeah, that's it for today's video.
Thank you for watching and see you guys next time.
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey.
