High school graduation ceremonies serve as significant milestones that celebrate student achievement, recognize academic excellence through honors and awards, and mark the transition from education to future opportunities. These ceremonies typically include speeches from student leaders, recognition of academic achievements (such as GPA-based honors, honor societies, and specialized programs like AVID and robotics), acknowledgment of community service and attendance, and formal diploma conferral. The event honors students' hard work, perseverance, and growth while encouraging them to pursue their future goals with confidence and integrity.

Good evening everyone.
My name is Valerie Lima and I have had the privilege of serving your senior cla as your senior class president. First, I want to congratulate the class of 2026.
Tonight, we celebrate more than just a diploma. We celebrate years of hard work, growth, perseverance, and the countless moments that brought us here.
Graduating high school is one of the first major milestones in our lives.
And every single one of you should be proud of what you have accomplished.
This past year has been unforgettable.
It was filled with events, fundraisers, dances, traditions, and memories that we will carry with us long after tonight.
Michael, RG, Angel, Jonathan, and I have been honored to serve as your class of 2026 board members. We hope we represented our class well and helped create a senior year that was meaningful and memorable. None of it would have been possible without your support, participation, and enthusiasm. Together, we made the most of our final year. From senior takeover on the last day of our junior year to senior sunrise at the beginning of senior year, from our 26 powderpuff victory to senior Olympics and from prom to graduation, our class of about 170 students came together to create experiences that will stay with us forever. These moments were made possible by so many people. Thank you to our senior adviserss, Miss G and Miss Garcia, our administrators, teachers, faculty, and staff, and especially our parents and families for their constant support. Your encouragement, guidance, and dedication helped make this year everything it was.
I would also like to take a moment to thank my parents. Thank you for every sacrifice, every word of encouragement, and every opportunity you've given me.
Your love and support have shaped me into the person I am today. And I am so grateful for everything you've done to help me reach this moment. I love you both. And this accomplishment is just as much yours as it is mine.
I encourage all of us to take a moment to reflect on the memories we've made.
For the past 180 days, we've shared classrooms, hallways, victories, challenges, laughter, and friendships.
Many of us have spent the last seven years growing up together at this school. Seven years of learning who we are, overcoming obstacles, and becoming the people we are today.
Tonight marks the end of one chapter.
But it is also the beginning of another.
As we move forward, whether to college, careers, trade school, military service, or new opportunities we haven't even imagined yet, I hope we carry the lessons, friendships, and memories we've gained here with us. The road ahead won't be easy, but remember how far you've already come. Let the experiences we've shared and the challenges we've overcome remind you that you are capable of more than you think. No matter where life takes us, we will always share this moment. and this bond. We will always be the Macy's class of 2026.
Congratulations, class of 2026. The future is yours. Go make it extraordinary.
Good evening, friends, family, and the class of 2026. I'm Elani SAS and for this past school year, I've had the honor of serving as your ASB president.
I remember joining the leadership class in seventh grade. And even though my first year was held through Zoom, I was so excited to be involved in a community so dedicated to their school. Little did middle school me know that my involvement would grow beyond just being a member of the class, but a member of the elected ASB board someday. Serving as ASB president has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my high school years. Stepping into this role, I saw as an opportunity to help plan events and represent our student body.
But I later came to see how much it would help me grow closer to my classmates and school community.
Throughout the years, I've had the privilege of helping organize events that brought us together. From homecoming to Friday night lights, it's so bittersweet to think that those weeks and long hours of brainstorming have come to come to an end. And those events we couldn't wait for in the beginning of the school year have now become memories that we look back on. Seeing our student body come together to support our teams, dress up for spirit days, and support one another truly showed me how strong we've grown together as a community.
However, it's important to highlight that behind every successful event, there was a dedicated ASB board working hard every day to provide students, both middle school and high school, with the best MAS experience possible. I'm forever grateful to have been elected alongside such an amazing group of students whose ideas and personalities truly made this year's ASB class one to remember. So in no particular order, thank you to Usiel Cruz, Adrian Popoka, Andre Vanas, Aiden Aretta, and Estean Ferrer for truly being the best board I could ever ask for and helping shape me into the leader I am today. It is because of them that these school experiences and memories you're leaving with were made possible. Apart from my board, thank you to Miss Martinez, our current leadership teacher, for pushing us to use our voice and advocate for ourselves. The board has been so lucky to have had you by our side this year.
and to Miss Navaro who first took over the leadership class during my first year. She has seen me grow as a leader both inside and out of the classroom and over the years has provided me with great advice with one in particular that will always stick with me and I'm forever grateful for. Lead by the power of example, not the example of power.
Miss Navaro has taught me along with many of you that a true leader is not made from a title but through the actions that back it up. So, even though I'm standing here in front of you with the title of ASB president, I know that each and every one of you are leaders at heart. And I hope that once you step outside these gates, your actions will continue to speak for themselves in a positive light always. And of course, I would not be standing here in front of you today if it weren't for my parents who've always pushed me to follow my dreams and work towards my goals, no matter how ambitious they may seem. And a special thank you to my mom for filling out the application for me to attend Mesus. Every opportunity I've gained and experience from this school was all thanks to that decision, one that I can never thank you enough for.
Los, I've had the best time serving as your ASV president. And whether you started with us in sixth grade or joined us along the way, we hope that our ASV board was able to give you a great Macy's experience and your time being here. Thank you so much for your time.
And once again, congratulations to the class of 2026. You did it.
It gives me the great pleasure to introduce to you this year's salutatoran.
The senior with the second highest grade point average. Our saludiatoran is Samantha Ortiz, who will be attending the University of Pennsylvania this fall and will be majoring in criminology.
Criminology.
Good afternoon, class of 2026.
When first thinking about this speech, I didn't know what to say. Then I thought back to to the beginning of the school year when I ordered my frozen children's backpack off Amazon. This backpack was a constant reminder of my childhood. But as the school year went on, it was clear adulthood was near because of the pink color fading and gaping holes tearing at the bottom. Although we're no longer little kids, I'd like to share a quote from another one of my favorite childhood movies, Despicable Me. It goes, "Minions, tonight we steal Zimoon." Like Gru and his minions, our special day is finally here. We no longer have to count the days down off classroom whiteboards. We're finally free of any homework, tests, and questionable school lunch food. I hope you all have big goals and strive to achieve anything you set your mind to, even if it seems as unattainable as stealing the moon. I'm extremely grateful to have grown up alongside all of you. I'm glad we went through the same struggles and we have so many shared memories. I still remember how our P class made an Instagram group chat to make sure everyone was in their PE uniform so we wouldn't have to run the mile. It was fun playing senior assassin. I was filled with paranoia and distress over the past few weeks. But most importantly, I felt happy to play this silly game with my classmates. And to my victims, I apologize.
It would be a disservice if I was up here and didn't shout out my friends and the senior house group chat. You guys truly were the best part of my high school experience. You all made me a better person, and I hope I was as great of a friend as you guys were to me.
I'm excited to celebrate with every single one of you tonight. I hope you guys know how proud I am and how much I love you guys. I'll miss spending every day together when we go our separate ways, but I know it's where we're meant to be. I'm already looking forward to meeting up during our summer and winter breaks from college.
Speaking about college for you, Penn, one of the essay prompts was to write a short thank you note to someone you have not yet thanked and would like to acknowledge. I thanked you, Mr. Sack, and I'd love to share what I wrote. So, here it is. Thank you for being an amazing constitutional law teacher.
Thank you for being the first to spark my interest in law and starting my journey toward becoming a lawyer. I loved working on attorney prep or judge notes as if I were already practicing law. Thank you for listening to my goals beyond high school and sharing your Cal State Long Beach College experience. Go Sharks. Even though I'm terrified of sharks, even though I'm no longer in your class, thank you for checking in during passing periods. Even for a simple hi, Sam. Also, I hope you know your quirky give it a goo sling has officially made it to my friend group's vocabulary. Best Sam, you obviously like this note, but I hope you like it more, Mr. Stack. Thank you for being the best teacher at Mesus. Thank you to everyone that has supported us throughout our seven years here, but especially this year when we were faced with college applications and uncertainty about our future.
Thank you parents for filling the bleachers during sports games and even for simply driving us to and from school. I know there's so much you guys do for us behind the scenes, so thank you for everything you've done for us.
to my family.
To my brother Andrew, thank you for being my day one. I look up to your oress and nonchalants. Don't ever change. I don't tell you this as often as I should, but I love you and you're the best older brother I could have grown up with.
Not many people know this, but we were raised by a single mom. Although my dad was never around, I barely noticed. And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. So, shout out to all the single parents. They give more love than any child can ask for, like my mom.
To my mom, thank you for supporting me in everything I do, even if it means letting me go to the East Coast for college. I'll miss you every day, but being across the country won't stop me from updating you on every little thing in my life like I do now. Mom, you are the reason I have accomplished everything that I have. You are the best, most important person in my life, and I love you more than words can express.
Class of 2026, I cannot wait to walk the stage with you guys tonight, go to GR night tomorrow, and enjoy the last moments we have together before we start our new journeys in life. Although I won't be going to Japan, I hope you guys have so much fun. And I'll try not to have too much FOMO. I'm excited for what the future has in store for us. But for tonight, we steal the moon. Thank you, and congratulations, class of 2026.
Thank you and congratulations, Samantha.
Now, the validictorian address will be delivered by Ellen Kendall, the student with the highest grade point average in our senior class. Ellen will be attending Dartmouth University this fall and she will be majoring in history.
Antonio.
It is my great honor and privilege to introduce Maywood Center for Enriched Studies class of 202026 validictorian Ellen Kendall.
Good evening, families, staff, Bianca Perez Marquez, and the rest of the class of 2026 graduates. We've all worked hard throughout this year, but also each year leading up to this day. Most people see school as a burden, an obstacle they feel pressured to overcome. Me though, I'll miss being excited to go to school every day and see my friends and make them laugh. I'll miss the after school adventures to In-N-Out, the movies, and the experience of waiting for the big table at Starbucks to free up. I'll even miss AP exam season.
Most importantly, I'll miss the bliss that came with the ignorance as I constantly wanted school to end, feeling as though I wish I had already graduated.
As I stand here now, I wish I could relive senior year and appreciate every moment even more.
Going to Macy's is a blessing and a curse, a double-edged sword, a gift that eventually stops giving. While being here for seven years has allowed me to create strong, long-lasting friendships that will forever have an impact on me.
It only makes it harder to leave once it all ends. The memories, the experiences that I've had with people I truly love will never leave me, but time and space will soon separate us. The friendships I've made at Maces will be irreplaceable and devastating to leave behind. The people in this school made it feel like a second home.
Now, I want to be cliche and say that this isn't the end of a book. It's just the start of a new chapter. The experience we have all gained from going to Maces will give us the foundation to build the rest of our lives on. Whether we're going into college, trade school, or the workforce, I know we all have the tools and capabilities to be successful.
Getting to turn in our yonder pouches was just the first taste of freedom.
After today, many more opportunities will open up for us, and it's our responsibility to take advantage of them and live life to its fullest. Just as middle and high school flew by, life will fly by unless we live in the moment and appreciate every new experience.
With that, I would like to give a congratulations to the class of 2026.
The time, dedication, and hard work we put in has paid off, and it's time for us to celebrate and create something incredible. Thank you.
Thank you and congratulations, Ellen.

So, good afternoon everyone. I'm going to be brief because I know you've been sitting there for a while.
So, welcome parents, families, staff, distinguished guests, and most importantly, the class of 2026.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Maywood Center for Enriched Studies and to stand before you today as we celebrate this important milestone.
The Maywood Center for Enriched Studies Graduates, today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
For many of you, this is the first day of what we often call real life.
No longer will teachers remind you about assignment deadlines.
No longer will administrators remind you about your uniform, your yonder pouches, put away your cell phones. Today, your freedom begins.
But with freedom comes responsibility.
As you move forward, you'll be faced with choices that will shape the course of your life. And some decisions will be easy, others will be difficult. In those moments, I encourage you to remain committed to your goals, your values, and your dreams.
Stay focused on the person you want to become.
Remember that success rarely happens by accident.
It is built through hard work, perseverance, discipline, and the courage to keep moving forward when challenges arise.
One of my favorite poets, Robert Frost, captured this idea beautifully when he wrote, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both."
At the end he says, "I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference."
There will be times when the easier path is tempting.
Yet often the path that requires the most effort, sacrifice, and determination is the one that leads to the greatest rewards.
Choose wisely.
Have the courage to take the road that aligns with your values and your aspirations.
As I reflect on the past several years, I'm reminded of how much you have grown.
You have navigated challenges, adapted to change, overcame obstacles, and demonstrated resiliency. Through it all, you committed to continue to move forward.
Just this year alone, together we have accomplished great things as a school community.
And this year alone, we celebrated the remarkable achievements. One, having a robotics team competing at the national stage. We were recognized as the California Distinguished School. We received the California Exemplary Arts Education Award. And we earned the recognition from Magnus Schools of America. These accomplishments reflect the hard work, the talent, and the dedication of our students, staff, and families.
To our parents and families, thank you.
Thank you for your love, support, encouragement, and countless sacrifices.
The graduates seated before us today did not arrive here today alone.
You have been their first teacher, their biggest advocates, and their strongest supporters.
I know you are as proud of them as we are.
Graduates, as you leave messes, know that you will always be part of our family.
We will celebrate your successes, cheer for your accomplishments, and remember the impact you have had on our school community.
Remember, once a wolf, always a wolf.
Wherever life takes you, carry with you the values of resilience, courage, and community that define the Wolfpack.
I leave you with the words of Dr. Zuz.
You're out to great places.
Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way today. Class of 2026, your future is bright. Dream boldly, work hard, lead with integrity, never stop learning, and never stop believing in yourselves.
Congratulations, class of 2026. And as always, go WooC.
