The Silver Peak Mine in Yerranderie, established in 1904, was a significant mining operation that produced 20 tonnes of silver, 20 tonnes of lead, and 563 ounces of gold, but began depleting during World War I when workers left for the front lines; the mine featured a unique safety brake system designed by Frank Hocking and was briefly revived in the 1960s.

It then started to deplete when World War I come because there were so many deaths on the front line, they started to lose the workers out there.
Something that was quite unique to here was the safety break. Now, Frank Hocking, [music] he designed that safety break back in the day, but at the same time, in the 1960s, they tried to get the mine going again.
This mine, Silver Peak Mine, did 20 ton of silver back in the day.
Now, also in this mine, they got 20 ton of lead and 563 oz of gold.
