Sophie Scholl, a 21-year-old German student at the University of Munich, became a key member of the White Rose resistance group in 1943, distributing anti-Nazi leaflets despite knowing the Gestapo was watching; she and her brother Hans were arrested, sentenced to death by Roland Freisler's court, and executed by guillotine on February 22, 1943, demonstrating that true education involves not just learning in classrooms but also having the courage to defend truth when it is on trial.

Sophie Scholl was a German student who terrified the Nazis. #history #hiddenhistoryAdded:
In 1943, the Nazi regime was terrified of a 21-year-old college student with nothing but a suitcase full of paper.
Sophie Scholl was born on May 9th, 1921 in Germany, and by the time she reached the University of Munich, silence had become dangerous. Her brother Hans and friends in the White Rose chose a weapon the Nazis couldn't easily shoot down, leaflets. They wrote about Nazi crimes, the war, and the duty to resist without violence. On February 18th, 1943, Sophie and Hans carried their sixth leaflet into the university and scattered copies from an upper floor. A janitor saw them.
Four days later, on February 22nd, Roland Freisler's court sentenced them to death. That same day, Sophie was executed by guillotine at Stadelheim Prison. She was 21. The lesson is clear.
Education is not just what we learn in classrooms. It is what we choose to defend when truth is on trial.
