Australia Was Poor Until THIS Happened #usaHinzugefügt:
For over 60,000 years, indigenous Australians lived across the continent long before Europeans arrived. Then in 1770, [music] British explorer Captain James Cook claimed the East Coast for Britain. A few years later, Britain needed a new prison colony after losing America. So in 1787, 11 ships carrying convicts, soldiers, and settlers sailed toward Australia. This became known as the First Fleet. [music] After an 8-month journey, they arrived in 1788 at what is now Sydney. But for indigenous people, this was not a discovery. It was an invasion. Diseases, violence, and land seizures changed Australia forever.
Entire indigenous communities were devastated within decades. Yet the colony kept growing from prisoner camps into powerful British settlements. And this was only the beginning. Part two will reveal how gold rushes transformed Australia into a rich nation.
