The National Clean Air Program (NCAP) has funded the installation of 13 traffic surveillance cameras (9 high-resolution CCTV cameras with night vision and 4 Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras) at four major congested traffic points in Dimapur (Nagarjan, Dobinala, Tragopan Hotel Junction, and Purana Bazaar), which aims to decongest traffic, improve air quality, and enhance crime investigation capabilities through a centralized command center.

DIMAPUR LEVERAGES NCAP FUNDING FOR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, CONGESTION AND AIR QUALITYAdded:
Viewers, good news for the city of Dimapur as today is a very significant day where 13 cameras have been installed at major traffic points and four traffic points, that is Nagarjan traffic point, Dobinala traffic point, Tragopan Hotel Junction, that traffic point over there, and Purana Bazaar. Now, these four places have been identified to be very heavily congested with traffic throughout the years, as you know and you are aware.
So, today marks this day where this decongestion we can look forward to and also enhanced air quality. Today the DCP, along with the Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, they all were gathered here for the official installation, or I should say inauguration of these 13 cameras. Now, uh these 13 cameras include nine CCTV, which are high-resolution color and night vision CCTV cameras, as well as four ANPR, that is the automatic number plate recognition. Now, these 13 cameras will not just decongest these four places or areas around Dimapur city, but also help in identifying traffic violators as well. Or if any mishap were to occur or any issues should happen or untoward incidents should happen, this will definitely help the police as well as the public also. Now, the Commissioner of Police today has told the media and also to the public that this is under the NCAP, the National Clean Air Program, and and sponsored by the Ministry as well.
Whereas the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Tinu Jongshi Chang, he said that yes, he has applauded the Commissioner of Police and the DCP Traffic as well, but also he has appealed to the public again that to take care of this government properties as it not only helps the traffic or the police over here, but the public as a whole. Let's have a look at today's program.
I will say it's a very significant step.
Though it seems like a very small setup, but it's a very significant step when it comes to installing cameras as well as having a centralized command center for Dimapur Police as such. So, these installations that we have done today, we have installed CCTV cameras as well as ANPR cameras under the National Clean Air Program project, which is being financed through the Central Ministry, and we have installed very around 13 to 14 cameras and ANPR cameras across very highly congested four locations in Dimapur jurisdiction. So, one is Dobinala, one is Tragopan Junction, one is Purana Bazaar, and another one is Nagarjan, yes. So, Nagarjan four locations. So, with this installation, we are hoping and Dimapur District Administration we have worked together in this project.
So, we wanted to achieve one very significant thing, that is number one is we want to decongest the most congested locations in Dimapur locations. And number two is also as the Clean Air Program says it, we want to through this decongestion, we will be really aiding in the process of minimizing air pollution as well, because a congested traffic really really adds to the air pollution. So, that is the main objective with which we have also inaugurated and then installed this project. In addition to that, I'm very sure that it will also assist in crime investigation and crime deterrence as well. So, with that, I'm really happy that District Administration as well as the Ministry has funded this project.
This is, as I said, a very small leap, but we are also hoping that in the future we will also get more funding so as to make this project into a very good and a very purposeful project for the Dimapur citizens.
Uh another aspect with regards to this project is uh in all the traffic locations, But now we have made the traffic personnel more intelligent, I would say.
congested areas through the command center, we will give them directions so as to aid in the traffic management also.
Uh thank you, CP. First of all, I would like to congratulate the CP and also uh her team for making this program a success. Also like to congratulate our DCP Traffic with this initiative. This uh command center has been set up.
Though it's a merge amount from the NCAP, which we have sanctioned, but I know like we have seen the good project being taken up like traffic in four locations, which we have inaugurated last year, and also this central command center. So, definitely will though now it's only in 13-14 locations, but we also going to take up with under road safety funding. So, definitely this program will be increased to more locations where uh these traffic congestions are there. I would like to quiz uh these uh our public also kindly cooperate and also make it uh convenient and also uh public-friendly to be used.
It will I think they will also be vigilant on this because we know these days many uh unnecessary things like have uh helped the police administration and also even in public for the public in identifying the vehicles. If there's any accident case we have seen, even those vehicle the vehicle passing their registration numbers are also been recorded and it is kept as a record. So, definitely with this we can help those uh criminals also in it will help in investigation and also catching those criminals who are who have been escaped. So, I would like to thank congratulate CP and her team for this great initiative and also thank you all. Uh in conclusion, uh I would like to really thank the state government as well as the Ministry and most importantly District Administration headed by our DC, as well as the technicians and also our team led by DCP Traffic who has really worked hard on the field to make sure that these installations are put into place.
So, thank you all so much for being here today and best wishes to all of you, and I hope that this will really help the citizens of Dimapur. Thank you.
So, viewers, that was the small informal program here, the installation or the inauguration program of the 13 CCTV, that is high-resolution CCTV cameras, which also has night vision as well, and uh the ANPR, that is the automatic number plate recognition cameras in four locations of Dimapur, the highly congested four locations. and of course highly congested would only mean that there will be some few accidents also in these areas. Now because of this installation the DCP also has mentioned I mentioned that these 13 cameras is a very big boost for the police the traffic especially where they can quickly respond the traffic personnel can quickly respond or in fact they can efficiently respond to all any complaints or issues that are happening in these areas and also really help in many many hit-and-run incidents ultimately improving the road safety in Dimapur town. Now this initiatives lay the foundation for adopting smart traffic technologies in the future as well is what the DCP has also stated. So viewers over here the control room at the new East Dimapur police station though not yet functioning right now it is uh behind the present East Dimapur police station is just behind but the new one over here which is yet to function start functioning the control room is here and these four locations will be highly monitored as well.
That's all for today Esther here with camera person Tamjen for Nagaland News Network.
