[00:00:39]Good evening, everyone. This is Bill Race and we're in the stream center now.

[00:00:43]And just wanted to update you as far as our rainfall. It's heavy at times.

[00:00:50]And uh has it created I want to read right off the bat here. I'm going to read you a warning to flash flood warning that was issued.

[00:01:02]So, let me get to that.

[00:01:07]Kind of a stormy evening and late afternoon.

[00:01:15]Let's see. Where did I see that?

[00:01:35]There is a flash flood warning for including Athens and Sweetwater, Tennessee. So, that's McMinn County.

[00:01:43]And Monroe County, I believe it is.

[00:01:48]They've had a lot of heavy rain and wouldn't be surprised to have some more flash flood warnings. Although, the rain is starting now to uh move.

[00:01:58]One of the heaviest rain is either dissipating some or moving up, but we still got some heavy rain here from just east of Pikeville over to Athens, although Athens getting out of the rain now.

[00:02:10]The area of rain down to the south here that's coming back through is not as intense right now, but it still creates some more rain.

[00:02:20]And so we'll be uh kind of tracking on that, of course, as we uh go along.

[00:02:28]Really, I'm just here to update you.

[00:02:29]There are no severe thunderstorm watches or warnings, no tornado watches or warnings, anything like that.

[00:03:04]And uh I'm I'm sorry, uh friends. I I'm just kind of looking over a few things here to see what is uh reportable, so to speak.

[00:03:26]I'm going to read you the flash flood warning.

[00:03:33]This was issued uh about 15 minutes ago. National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a flash flood warning for southwest Loudon County, northeast McMinn, northwest Monroe until 10:00 Eastern time. Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area up to 2 and 1/2 inches of rain have fallen already.

[00:04:01]That's an estimate. Additional rainfall estimates of a half inch to an inch are possible this evening in the warned area.

[00:04:10]Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

[00:04:15]A lot of that is is what is said all a lot of times in these messages.

[00:04:26]So, we are going to be getting I think quite a few report or some reports of perhaps some trees down, perhaps some power outages, that kind of thing from what moved through here earlier.

[00:04:42]We are going to just be on here for just as an update and then we'll continue to update you as we go through the evening.

[00:05:05]We had some noisy times here at the television station as well.

[00:05:14]So, really I can show you perhaps something that might help us determine how things are going to be moving along here this evening.

[00:06:03]This is our rapid refresh model.

[00:06:05]It updates every hour. This is 8:00 p.m.

[00:06:09]And we still are seeing that some of that rain uh around. It is going to be moving out.

[00:06:16]So, by the time we get to 10:00, 11:00, most of the heavy rain is out of the area. And then, as we go to the overnight and into daybreak tomorrow, it looks a lot quieter as far as rainfall is concerned. That's good news there.

[00:06:50]I I think that the severe weather chances now pretty much over for the night. Other than the fact that we could see some flash flooding while it's still raining where it's raining. So, that was future track, by the way, if uh you're just getting started with us.

[00:07:06]And we'll go back to the storm tracker.

[00:07:19]So, you see where it's raining now. The darker green's a lighter rain. The yellow and the red are the heavier showers and thundershowers. And the you notice, perhaps, that the yellow and the red is kind of shrinking away, turning more green. So, the intensity of the rain in some places has diminished. But, even down towards Calhoun in Georgia, we are seeing um another heavier cell. And those are the kind of things that can create some flash flooding. So, it's going to take a little bit longer, a couple more hours before we're done with a lot of the heavier rain and and the rain in general should start to begin ending by between 10:00 and 11:00 this evening as far as any significant rain.

[00:08:12]Tanya, I'm glad that that wasn't any more of a problem.

[00:08:19]Tony, thank you for uh correcting that for me.

[00:08:26]>> [sighs] [laughter and gasps] >> Yeah, Wanda, it has been um a rainy period. Of course, we went for quite a while there dry, but we're just kind of lined up right now with the moisture from the Gulf and it is just an endless supply, of course, but uh we also have had a front kind of stationary over us.

[00:08:56]That's still going to be with us this week. You know, I don't see the chances of rain really coming down too much until perhaps next Sunday.

[00:09:06]So, we're going to have to uh definitely be watchful of that. By Tuesday, when the drought monitor gathers its data, I would suspect that we would see a much better map as far as the drought is concerned. This has been a bit of a drought buster, I think, this last week.

[00:09:34]Yeah, my grass needed some rain. Of course, I didn't maybe need this much rain now, but it has uh helped, that's for sure.

[00:09:55]So, really what we have is just some light to moderate rain, I'd call it. In some places, you could even call it heavy rain, I'm sure. Especially down uh There's that area in North Georgia that has been picking up in rain. Let me point that out to you.

[00:10:13]So, right in this area, here's the my arrow.

[00:10:18]And right around to the east of Calhoun, Georgia, and there's this little strip of heavier rain here.

[00:10:36]But, there is some end game to this.

[00:10:40]As we look farther south, so that's going to enter the picture a little later this evening, where we won't see as much rain around.

[00:11:09]I just wanted to get on here just for a little bit here, just to kind of uh settle what's been going on, and it, you know, here's what I want to get across to you is that we are getting into uh a time where there is severe weather, as far as severe thunderstorms or tornadoes, is a kind of has come to an end I think for the evening.

[00:11:35]Now we're just going to be dealing with any residual rain, maybe aggravating some flash flooding across the area.

[00:11:43]And McMinn County is already under a flash flood warning until 10:00 as is Monroe County.

[00:11:50]And so that is something to keep keep in mind as well.

[00:11:54]And other than that, you know, we're just kind of waiting to see how this all wraps up here a little later on this evening.

[00:12:33]So that's kind of the update for now.

[00:12:35]Uh [clears throat] you know, we're going to be seeing the rain diminishing and moving out. There's still be some little pockets of heavy rain here uh still for the next hour or two.

[00:12:46]Uh but not too much, but if any warnings come back, I'll be right back on the stream with you.

[00:12:53]And uh unless there's a tornado warning, which I don't expect, and then I would be on the television.

[00:13:00]But uh at this point it looks like we're uh not going to be as I I don't think we'll see any more tornado warnings, that's for sure, and I don't expect to see any severe thunderstorm warnings either, but you know what? It still is a bit unsettled out there, and there's no guarantees at this point.

[00:13:18]So we'll keep you updated, and um hopefully we'll get some drier weather to move in as uh uh Connie says, "Hoping tomorrow's a little better. We certainly had a wet day today."

[00:13:31]It was a dry, mostly dry day Saturday.

[00:13:33]Today not so good as far as wet weather and then the Monday still expecting some showers, but hopefully not quite as many as what we have had today and hopefully not as intense.
