This video serves as a sobering reminder that preventative care is the only sustainable approach to animal welfare on a working farm. It effectively highlights the life-threatening consequences of delaying routine sterilization in domestic animals.

Bubbles Barn Cat Needed Emergency SurgeryAdded:
Uh we're here at the farm this morning.
We have that vet appointment for Bubbles the barn cat and we're going to go make an attempt to put her in a crate somehow. I don't know if I'll be able to film it cuz it's probably going to be a little chaotic. I'll keep you posted in a minute. Here we go. Let's hope I can get her in there without any big issues or trauma. Watch it, guys. I'm coming in.
I'm coming in. Okay, there she is. there.
Hi guys, Dexter. Tango. There's Tango. I'll be able to get her when it comes time for her spay. I can grab her easily. I can grab Maggie pretty easily, but Bubbles here is the challenge.
I've had these two cat carriers in here, so they can go in and out and investigate. Bubbles.
Oh, she's running away already.
What are you doing, Bubs?
You okay? Are you going to go inside here? It's nice if she goes inside here because then I'll be able to put the carrier up against it. Bubbles, you okay?
I got to get you to the vet, kiddo.
All right. I got to get you to the vet.
It's for the best. What I'm going to do is Tango, what are you doing? Hey, what are you doing?
I'm going to get some treats out and put some treats in the tent.
Bubbles, I got some treats for you. I'm going to put it inside. Okay.
Hopefully, she goes in. Maggie, you okay?
I can get Maggie relatively easy, too, because I can just feed them and then she goes to the food and then I can just pick her up. Fuzzy here, he's not an issue.
Does Bubbles go inside yet?
Yes.
She's not coming out.
She escaped.
She wouldn't go in the crate.
Oh man, I was sticking my hand there trying to get her to come into the crate.
Oh, it's more difficult than you think.
Okay, I put all the litter up there blocking the door so nobody can get in or out. And Bubbles is outside there.
I'm sure if I start chasing her down, she's going to go inside that cat house there. And then I'll try the trick again with the carrier. My vet appointment for Bubbles is not really until about an hour and a half from now. I got my gloves in case I need them cuz she's a feisty one. She's bitten me before.
Whenever I grab her, she bites. So I got to be careful.
puddles. Bubbles.
Bubbles.
Bubbles.
Mango. Don't go in there, buddy.
She's almost in.
Bubbles.
I can't get in there, kiddo.
I can't get in there.
Come on, kiddo.
This one's much more difficult to work with.
All the other cats are freaked out.
Mango, Dexter, Maggie. She's running around like a crazy person. and Maggie.
Cuz once you start getting one cat, they all freak out because they think you're coming to get them. But I got her. It was a little bit of hard work, but I got her. And I'm a little winded cuz I'm a tabacho, but I got her. She's not happy. She's panting like this for sure. She's a little bit tired. Oh, but at least I got her.
And uh I'm hoping that the vet when we get there can maybe give her some gas or something to make her relax. Like I don't know how you can give her a sedative the way she is. There's no way the vet could handle her. But I know that the vets have a lot of different techniques. She was standing up on top of this thing and she started urinating down here a lot. A lot of pee, which is actually good because now she she released all that urine and now she's going to the vet so she's not going to be holding in all that urine.
Oh boy. Hey Dexter, how are you? My Dexter won't even pet me cuz he's freaked out. Holy snikes. At least I got her though with no huge huge hassle. But you know when she comes back from the vet.
Maybe she's going to hate me again.
Okay, Bubbles.
Got to get to the vet, kiddo. Sorry about that. I feel so bad. I really feel bad, but I understand it's got to get done cuz she's got to get checked out.
I'm not letting all the cats out while I got Bubbles at the vet either. So, I got to unblock the little door cuz I blocked that door so that Bubbles couldn't run around.
Fuzzy's the only guy here that doesn't care. He doesn't care if he gets chased around or if I'm chasing the other cats.
He just sits around. And that's probably because he's more socialized and he's like older. Fozzy's got to be getting close to 10, 11 years old now. We got him. The guy said he was five, if you can believe the guy where I got him from. So, he's uh getting up there in age compared with the other cats. Right, Fuzzy? Thanks, buddy. Thanks for being a good boy. Hey, so I put these things here to block the bubbles from running out.
Let the other cats come in and out.
There's Dexter.
>> Let me try to give them some treats in case I can quickly have them forgive me.
Dexter, come here, BUDDY.
Come here, bud.
Hey, buddy. You okay, Dexter? Here.
Dexter just let me pet him. He's okay.
Hey, Chunk. Here, Sushi. Hey, Sushi.
Sushi's okay. Fuzzy's okay. Dexter's somewhat okay. Where is he, though?
Dexter. Oh, there he is.
I guess they don't want the treats, though. They're a little bit stressed out because of me. I'm a little bit stressed out, too. I don't like having to chase around cats. I wish I wish they were just Oh, here's Sushi. Of course, Sushi wants the treats. At least it's a little bit of a success. Hey, Bubbles and I are off to the vet and I will keep everybody posted right after the vets's visit as soon as I know anything. I really don't know how much filming I'll be able to do inside the vet. I'm not one to encroach on anybody's privacy and I don't even know if vets allow that kind of thing. But maybe if I'm sitting in the room all alone, I'll shoot a quick clip just to prove to everybody that I was at the vet so nobody can not believe me that I take my cats to the vet. Bubbles, you know, and all the other cats and all the other animals, too. Like, I wish they understood that I'm only trying to help them, you know, like I'm not intentionally trying to hurt them or stress them out or traumatize them. And I mean, Bubbles is running away. Sometimes I feel like she's asking for help. You know, she was letting me pet her a lot the other day.
And uh I don't know. I'm hoping that she won't hold this against me long term and I'll have to start the socializing process all over cuz I thought over the past year or so, I've been making good progress with her. You know what I mean?
So, hope for the best. Okay, we're here at the vet. So, we're in here. I have a chance to film. There's Miss Bubbles. I just explained everything.
to the vet and all my theories about maybe Fozzy not being neutered, and they did in fact say that is a possibility.
If Bubbles wasn't heat, then she would actually want to get mated and she wouldn't run away if Fuzzy was chewing on her. They did say it's very unlikely that if there was a fight that she would just kind of sit there and let the other cat chew on her ears. So, it's looking like it's kind of a mating situation about the ears. It's not the the girl said it's not parasites and it's not ear mice. She can tell just by looking at it, but they've gone to get help because they might have to sedate her to give her a proper inspection right now. So, I'm just kind of waiting in between visits.
Tried to pull my phone out and give you guys an update during this video.
Bubbles's eyes are dilated. She's freaked out. So, I really really stress them to sedate her somehow. I don't know how they're going to do it, but I asked them. So, it's okay, Bubbles. We're going to get you fixed up hopefully. Okay.
Okay. The vets's taken Bubbles into the back area. I guess that's where they do all the work. I'm not allowed back there. So, I just got to sit here and wait to see what are the findings. So, we'll see. I've also asked them if they can spay her. like maybe not today, but maybe tomorrow just as like an exception kind of case. We're not scheduled for a spay and I don't know if her health is okay enough that they can spay. So, he's going to give me an answer what they can do. We'll work on getting Maggie and Tango done afterwards. But hopefully if they can just do the spay while she's here, either today or tomorrow, they can keep her overnight maybe, he said. And then at least it'll be less stress. If they send me home with her again, then she's going to be free and I'm going to have to spend an hour trying to trap her again, trying to get her, which is another whole trauma again for her and for me. It's stressful trying to grab her. Okay guys, well, I'm back at the farm and I'm just checking in on the cats here. Tango's here crying. It's not really great news about bubbles. I know that I've already given an update in the comments of the previous video, but we just kind of finished with the vet visit and they took her into the examination room and did their examination. It took quite some time. They had to give her a sedative because Bubbles is just not allowing anybody to do their job. You know what I mean? So, it took about an hour for the sedative to actually take effect so that they can do the the examination.
You want to come down, buddy?
Okay.
Look at the beautiful feathers that the black leg horns have.
I've said it before many times, it's black. They're called black leg horns, but when you really look at it in the right light, it's almost like a metallic green or a metallic blue color that uh radiates off of the black. You know what I mean? It's very cool. So, Bubble has a uterine infection called pyometra.
That's the diagnosis. And this is with all the urine work and the blood work and the whole nine yards to check in on her. It's called pyometra. And really, it's an infection, a quite serious infection of the uterus.
I've been out at the farm quite early today because I knew Bubbles had a vet appointment and I kind of knew I was going to have a hard time to actually grab her and get her into the carrier.
And you know, you saw some of that earlier. It was quite a job to get her in and into the carrier. Once she's in the carrier, she's fine. You know what I mean? But getting to that point is a problem with her. She's just not socialized.
And that's my fault. I didn't do a great job when she was young to socialize her.
and she's probably just a skittish cat to begin with. There were some comments in the previous video that possibly she's not getting along with the rest of the cats. You know, she's not being accepted into the group, which I don't think is the case at all. She's their family. She's Maggie's daughter along with Tango and Mango as siblings. And I see them all the time kissing each other, licking each other, playing with each other, sleeping with each other.
Bubbles is just standoffish with people, which is my bad. You know, like I didn't do a good job with her when she's young and I blame myself. I wish I had a doover with her.
Come on, let's go, guys.
It's quite a windy day actually and not that warm at all. It's supposed to be a high of 8° C today, which is kind of nippy for the middle of May. You know, it should be a heck of a lot warmer than that, but it is what it is. We got a few days of kind of cool temperatures.
Four, dude. are coming out maybe. Not sure if they want to come out.
They're not coming out nice and quick, that's for sure. They're taking their time.
Where's the fourth one?
So, the surgery itself is going to take some time. Probably an hour and a half, they said, but they're just estimating because really it all depends on if there are any complications or anything like that. The vet said, you know, it's a little bit risky. It's it's a little bit more indepth than a spay. So, let me just clear it up that the the solution to the infection in the uterus is to do a full removal.
So, the removal is kind of similar to a spay where they remove the uterus and all that. So, she'll be spayed by the end of this surgery, which is kind of the goal for the female cats anyways. We have to do Tango and Maggie next. But I wanted to get Bubbles dealt with because it's going to be a big bill. It's uh just over 2,000 Canadian dollars for Bubbles treatment and surgery and whatnot. So, I got to be able to handle that first before I can go ahead and get the other two girls dealt with.
By the time we finish with Bubbles's vet appointment, it's already like midafter afternoon. So, I won't be letting the cats out simply because I'm a little bit anxious today and I'm worried about bubbles and I'm praying that she can pull through because it's uh I don't know any surgery for anything is a little bit serious, right? So, I'm just hoping that there's no complications and everything goes great.
Let's just head down here and open up the barn door there for the pigs and the chickens while I continue telling you this story about bubbles. So, that's uh the somewhat latest update. But after I finish doing some of the chores here, I'm at the moment waiting for a phone call from the vet to give me an update that Bubbles is in fact out of surgery.
And you know, she's okay. That's going to take some time. So, I figured I have to get back to the farm and do up all the chores and I'll continue filming the video and whatnot. So hopefully at some point in the next couple hours as I'm working and filming here, I'll have another update for Bubbles as she's at a surgery because she's in surgery right now as we speak.
>> Hey chickens, come on guys.
Everybody out.
Let's go. Hands, get some fresh air for a while. Okay.
Hands.
Actually, when I go in the cat house in a little while and I'll explain more about what's happening with Bubbles. I wonder if the cats are still going to be freaked out because I was chasing Bubbles down earlier or if they're going to be calmed down by now. It'll be interesting to see if I can get pets or not.
I hear you. I hear you, Billy. I see you guys.
Hey, nose bump. Good boy. All right, let's go outside.
Let's go outside. Okay.
Get some fresh air. Wait, Billy, watch your snout. Hey, there. Otherwise, you're going to hit your snout on the door.
Okay, outside. I got to clean up your poops.
Got to clean up the poops every day because there's two pigs in here now.
Little bit of a poop right there.
Little bit of a poop right there.
Get it scooped up nice.
All this poop gets mixed in in our compost and it's going to help make really good soil for the garden. Flat shovel so I can get this chicken poop cleaned up a bit so it's a little bit less.
Yeah. Nothing better on a farm than all the poop that you collect. It's a farmer's most number one favorite thing to do in the world. Two eggs from the chickens today, Olive. That's pretty good considering they're our retirement flock, right? Let's go. Oh, you almost ran Freddy over.
Hey, where's your ball?
Where's your ball? Where's your ball?
She doesn't know where it is at the moment. Where is she going?
She still can't find it. Where's your ball?
Find it. I don't know where it is.
Don't look at me. I don't know where you put it. Where is it?
Where'd you leave it? Did you leave it up by the ducks?
I don't know if it's down there. I think you left it over by the ducks. Okay, let's go back to the ducks.
Ducks aren't down there, kiddo.
I see you.
Come back. Come here.
Bobby, have you seen Olive's ball?
Hey, Bobby.
He's not answering me.
Billy, there's the geese almost ready, getting ready to go in the pool.
Did you find it? Where's the ball? Let's go. Where's the ball?
Oh no. Three hens came up here to see Big Red. What are you guys doing? You're too far from the barn.
Uh-oh. Big Red's getting a little twitterped.
And that hen's already pecking his feathers on his butt. Did you see that?
Oh no. What am I going to do now?
Gloria's in here eating some food. You okay, Gloria? Brad, I got to put you away, buddy, because they're pecking your tail already. Come on, bud. Come on, buddy.
The hens know he's not perfectly healthy, right? So, they start pecking his feathers again. And his feathers have been growing in nicely since he's been alone here with Gloria. If you get a good look at his tail feathers, you see that they're all coming in. So, I don't want them to start plucking it all out again. Come on, Hens. Let's go back.
Gloria, you stay here. Okay. Come on, guys. Let's go back. You're not listening. Come on, hands. Let's go back. They're not listening. They want to be with Big Red. Usually, they all want to be with Big Red all the time.
The same thing happened when I made Big Red have his own coupe in the chicken house. And it was, I don't know, day by day, hen would jump the fence and want to be with Big Red. Same thing's happening now. Chickens are funny. Come on, chickens. I got the food for you, chickens.
They're not listening. And one turkey escaped. There's the turkey.
Come on, chickens. Look.
Here, let's go. I'll be the pied piper now.
But for chickens. Come on, hands.
There they are following me like clockwork.
They know now that I got some food. Come on, hens. I got some food. Let's go.
Fun times at the farm as usual. Freddy, you're supposed to keep your hands over here, buddy. Let's go, chickens.
Here, guys.
Okay.
Okay, FREDDY.
OH, YEAH. Sing it, Freddy. How come there's only one Bardrock hen here?
Where's the other Bardrock hen, Freddy?
She in here? No.
Where is the other bard rock hen?
Hey, have you guys seen the bard rock hen?
Where is she?
Oh, she's not in here. Oh, no. Maybe she was out with the other hens and she's far away now. Great. Now we're on a manh hunt for a chicken. Where could she have gone? Maybe she came up to the chicken house with those other birds and then maybe she went into the chicken house. I don't know. I'll hunt her down. I got to get in the cat house though cuz I want to see if they're going to remember me that I'm a nice guy or if they're still going to be freaked out cuz I was chasing bubbles.
Okay, let's see.
Let's see.
Anybody in here?
I've been working on emptying out these cans. So, this one's empty. I have a collection behind the barn.
Oh, brother. Han, are you in here?
This was her coupe.
This was the other coupe. Anybody in here?
Okay, there's nobody in here. So, what's going on? Oh, there you are. What are you doing up there? This isn't your house. You can't go to sleep here, Missy. It's not protected. You got to head back to the barn. Okay. Are you listening to me? You got to go back to the barn. Okay. You promise? Well, she couldn't make me a promise that she'll go back to the barn, so I'm forcing the issue. I grabbed her.
Chickens, turkeys, ducks, sick cats.
What's happening on the farm? Here you go, Hen. Hang out with your sister.
Okay. Stay here, though.
Freddy, what are you doing, buddy? Hey, you okay?
Still no call from the vet. I don't know how long it's going to take him before Bubbles is out of surgery and okay. I'm just praying and crossing my fingers that she's okay. Billy.
Bobby, where are you?
Bobby, you okay, bud?
Billy, that's a good girl.
>> You guys want some dinner?
>> Let's go, pigs. Billy.
She's running full speed, as fast as she can go. How about Bobby? Yeah, he's pretty fast, too. If he had a wide open area, I'm sure he'd be so fast. Let's feed the pigs. Okay, pigs. Who wants dindins?
Hey, you guys want dindins?
Don't kill me.
Hey, don't kill me, Bobby. Okay, my man.
>> Okay, guys. Who wants dinner?
Here, buddy. Dilly, I got dinner over here for you. Here you go.
Hard day of work for the pigs.
Hey, pigs.
Oh, brother.
There you go. Right, buddy. Good stuff.
Bobby's foaming at the mouth as usual.
It happens a lot more with the bores as opposed to the females. They don't foam at the mouth as much. Right, Billy?
Got to get them some fresh water. And I usually add a little bit of water in their feed bowls, too. I don't know where that ball is, Olive. I guess we'll have to get another one for now. You lost it. Hey, you lost it. Now, I put all the hens back over there with the barn. And I let Big Red back out. And now I don't know where Gloria is.
Gloria. It's not like she knows her name by now. We just gave her that name. But where the heck would she be? She's not anywhere around the rabbit house there.
Weird.
Wasting all my day chasing all these chickens.
Where could she have gone? I wonder if she's also in the chicken house. Get back in there, turkey. You know you're doing wrong.
Yeah, you know you're doing wrong.
Gloria, are you in here?
No, I don't see Gloria anywhere.
So, where would Gloria be?
What's happening? Red, why you going with all the big branches, buddy? You're going to get tangled up in there. We're trying to find Gloria.
Help me find Gloria, buddy. Okay. I wonder if Gloria went behind the the bunny barn here.
Let me see if she's behind the bunny barn here.
There you are, Gloria. Oh, you're having a sand bath, eh? Okay, Olive. Let's go out.
That's okay. That's good for you. I'll leave you alone.
Okay, that's good. At least I know where she is. I was like wondering for a second there. Where is Gloria? Chad here.
Not too bad. How you doing? Is Bubbles okay?
>> She's okay. Okay. Thank goodness.
>> No, no, no, no. She was born here on our farm. She's never had any other surgeries. My plans is when I pick her up, I'm going to keep her in a big dog crate in the house. I'm not I'm not going to keep her in with the cats cuz uh Dr. Ryersony was saying, you know, we don't want her to be running or jumping or, you know, getting involved in any playtime with the other cats. So, it's better if she's like separated for a while.
Yeah, they're beautiful looking. It was a bit cold last night, so that some of them have blankets on. Look at that big horse over there. He's huge.
But yeah, some of them do have blankets.
There's a few white ones and couple of brown ones and a couple of black ones.
There's some way far over there, but they're back for the summer anyway. Are you guys okay now or are you still mad at me?
Hey, chunky Dexter.
Hey, buddy. Hey, Chunk.
Looks like the cats are okay. Tango's over here rolling around. Hi, Tango.
You okay? You don't hate me, right Tango?
Got to get you to get spayed next after Bubbles. You and Mama, right? You're not going to hate me, are you?
So, you can see me petting Tango just now, and you can tell that it's like she's a little bit more socialized than Bubbles, right? Like, I can pet her and she doesn't really come to me, but in the morning when I greet the cat, she'll come and get pets, right? Um, the big difference I think with Bubbles, even though they're siblings, and even though I socialized them the exact same way, is that for Bubbles's first vet visit, I remember I used a small fishing net. And I've told this story before, and it was the worst mistake that I've ever made with the cats. I should have never used a fishing net. Now, I used a fishing net. I thought I was doing okay because it was like three days that we missed three different vet appointments for Bubbles because I couldn't get her. I'm running around the the cat house. At the time it wasn't the cat house, it was my workshop. So, you can just imagine I had lots of shelving and tools and all my stuff was in there. And so, Bubbles had loads of hiding spots, which in hindsight was a mistake, too, from the beginning when the cats were born. And I let the young kittens, Maggie's kids, Mango, Tango, and Bubbles, they just got big, and then they were roaming around the house. And I I I should have done it differently. I'm thinking maybe I should have taken them home with mama, with Maggie, and had them there and then I could have sit with them and hold them and love them and hugged them and and maybe if I had have done that from a very young age, they wouldn't have been the way they are. So, Mango, he's very sketchy. Bubbles is extremely sketchy.
Tango's not that bad, but she's still not perfect like uh the way Dexter is.
Look at Big Red coming when I'm talking.
Dexter, Fozy, they're all like perfectly socialized with me. Anyways, so Sushi's pretty good, actually, too. So, that's kind of the story about Bubbles, how she became so skittish in the first place.
She's been like that since kittenhood.
And yes, I do blame myself for that. I should have done a way better job socializing her, and I didn't. And I regret it. And I wish I had a doover, but I don't. So, I got to just run with it and and move forward, so to speak, not dwell on the past, you know. Hi, Dango. Hi, Dexter.
Hi, Tango. Where's mama? Is she hiding from me?
Okay, so good news. Bubble is out of surgery. Yes, it's a little bit of a relief. The doc says she's okay. She did have complications. Her blood pressure went down. The white blood count went down. Her body temperature went down.
They had to give her a heating pad when she's in the little recovery now. But in any case, she's okay. So that's the immediate information. So that's terrific. Hey, Chunk Fuzzy.
Hey guys. Sushi. Hey Sushi.
How are you?
You're okay, boys.
Hey, Tego. You okay? You're okay. Don't bite me, Chunk. He just bit my hand. So, I'm happy to see the cats are not too bad. There's Mango up there. He's not greeting me. Of course, he never does. I think Mango hates me. Maggie's in the thing there just kind of resting. So, there's the other thing about her ears.
This is the other thing that the vet was obviously looking at. And here's the thing. The vet doesn't really know what's that all about. Now, I gave the vet my theory that Bubbles was in heat and she wanted, you know, mating.
And Fuzzy here, maybe he's not neutered.
I don't have confirmation that Fozzy is neutered. I only have confirmation that Chunk, Dexter, and Mango were neutered because we in fact got them neutered. We also had Chewy neutered, but we lost Chewy. We don't know what happened to him. We assumed we lost them to predators, but I'm not really sure.
Ow, Fuzzy, your claws are so sharp, buddy. Ow.
So beside the point anyways, if Fuzzy is neutered or not, if that's in fact what happened, if you think about the length of Fuzzy's body from where his genitals are somewhere under here to where his mouth is over here, if you just kind of picture him mating Bubbles, Bubbles maybe was in heat. The cats when they mate, the male cat will bite on the neck area of the female to kind of hold the female in place. This is a very common thing. It's not I'm not making it up.
It's facts. So, my suggestion is that Fuzzy was on top and he's trying to do it and Bubbles is sitting there wanting it. That's why she didn't run away. And maybe the length of his body is so much longer than Bubbles that his mouth instead of biting on her neck, he was biting on her ears. Now that I have no confirmation of this. Um, the vet has known in their experience that sometimes the cat's ears do get nibbled on, but it's not very common that a little bit of the ear is going to be like chewed off. So, that's kind of something that they haven't seen a very lot of. So, they did say that they're healing. I mean, perfectly fine. There's nothing really that they need to do there. Um, but of course it's just kind of a sad thing to see your ears kind of sheared off like that.
Sorry for talking too much. I'm getting I need water.
Getting choked up. Plus, this guy's hair is in my face.
Gosh, allergies and cats don't mix. And this guy sheds a lot, too. A lot of people have also suggested in the comments that uh maybe we should keep bubbles at home like in the house. And to be perfectly frank, I have some pretty bad cat allergies. So that's not a good idea.
But we did attempt it. I don't know a couple years ago now. and we brought her home and it was like a long time that she was in our house and she literally just hid under the sofa in the basement and it wasn't like she was never coming out. It wasn't like a good experience for her or us. She was crying all the time. We had three litter boxes for her.
We had one on the main floor and two in the basement in different areas and wow oh wow, she didn't use them really. She used our sofa and all the furniture and the carpet and she used all of that as a washroom.
Oh, bless me. So, I don't know if that's an option for us. Some people suggested we should be rehoming Bubbles. I don't really know if I agree with that either.
I understand that Bubbles went through this experience now. And I mean, I I I wish I could have prevented it before um she got ill like that, but we can hope that she pulls through and uh we'll give her a we'll give her time to recover, you know. So, fingers crossed.
And we're praying for her. You okay, Chunk?
You okay, buddy? Where you going? I'm just starting to pet you and you're walking away. Whoa. See, Tango's in heat. When you hear that sound, it means she's looking for a mate. That's why she's not allowed to go on the farm until we get her spayed because I'm worried about her traveling around like Maggie.
>> I hear you. Then next on our list is to get Maggie and Tango spayed. And I mean that will be, I guess, a big relief for me and for all you viewers who care about the cats to give them a decent chance at a good long healthy life, you know. And Bubbles is in fact going to be staying overnight at the vets for precautions because it was a little bit of a risk. So, they need to make sure she'll be okay. And she's on an IV and she's on fluids and food and all that cuz she's definitely skittish and stressed out and she's not going to eat.
So, I'm here now. They're bringing her out. Hi folks, Chad here. We're back in the house. We got Bubbles home. It is the next day following her surgery. They kept her overnight for observation and stuff like that just to better be safe than sorry. You know what I mean? We thought it's best to keep her in our house away from the other cats so that a she's in a somewhat of a controlled environment and b she's not going to be running and jumping and hiding and twisting and stuff cuz she's going to have sutures all up and down her belly, right? So, she is now officially spayed and free from all the infection. We do have antibiotics.
And that's we have a couple different meds that we have to give her. This one here is medic.
And then this one here is the antibiotic.
That's like uh you know, we only we only give it every 12 hours.
And this one here is the the pain medication seditive. Uh what's it called? GBA gabapentin. It's called gabapentin.
So they gave us the syringe.
So you just have to kind of measure out the amount in the syringe. I'm not giving it to her right now cuz she's already had her dose for today. And I got her in this crate right here. So, I'm hoping that she's still sedated like enough that I'll be able to just take her out by myself without her freaking out cuz we all know based on watching all my videos that Bubbles is not the most socialized cat. We'd like to change that. I've been working on it and working on it, but she's, you know, a hard egg to crack. So, we got a big dog crate. We got a blanket on top. We'll be able to drink this over the front to give her some privacy, let's say overnight. And we have a litter box there for her. And then we have a nice cushy pillow. And we'll have a food and water dish. And she can stay in there probably for a few days. And then this room here is our laundry room, eh? So we can close the door to the garage and we can close the door to the house and it'll be in a contained area. So once, you know, I can once she's feeling a little bit better and maybe she's walking around, I can open up the door and maybe it'll be a good chance for us to bond a little bit as well. So let's see if I can get this open. And she's chilled out. And she's still a little bit sedated as well. So that's good. So the the pain medication that she's going to be under also kind of makes her a little groggy. So it's like a sedative as well.
So, the vet did say it's okay for her for me to pick her up is what I mean.
I'm trying to just cradle her so she's not as freaked out. And she does have the little t-shirt on. That's to protect the sutures so that she's not going to lick and fiddle with the little sutures.
So, you can see she's alert. She's aware.
And it looks like maybe she wants to climb out of my arms.
I mean, hopefully she'll be okay.
You're okay, Bubbles. If she only knew how much we love her. You know, the vet didn't give any conclusive diagnosis on her ears. So, it's kind of a mystery as to what happened with her ears. I know we talked a lot about it on the live stream. The vet definitely ruled out ear mites, parasites, skin conditions, any kind of skin disease.
The vet ruled all that out. She doesn't have anything wrong with her blood and she's like in good shape. The vet did say that the ears are healing. Okay.
They're they're like uh scabbing over and then that'll continue to heal.
You're okay, bubs.
Now, I did a live stream yesterday when uh when we took her in for surgery.
And I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everybody who supports the channel. There was a whole boatload of people who actually gave us some money and it's like it came in many different forms and a lot of it came through YouTube. A lot of people have been pressuring me to start up a PayPal account. She's stepping on my hand so that's kind of good.
I really don't want to grab her by the belly too much because that's where it's tender. But they gave her a shot of uh pain medication and they said that specific pain medication lasts for 3 days.
So that's excellent. Right on her hand there, you can see that they have to take off some of the hair to to give the intervenous, you know, the IV. Her tail's wagging. Right now, you guys can't see it, but I feel that the tails wagon. There was nothing wrong with her tail, by the way. You remember her tail had kind of clumps of hair on it.
There's nothing wrong with the tail. It was just matted hair. So, they brushed it out and kind of bathed her and stuff like that. Oo, she's scratching me.
She's scratching me.
And don't forget, she is still groggy.
She's turned the wrong way for the camera, though. And I got my hands all wrapped up now.
I don't know if you can tell, but I'm awfully relieved that she's had a surgery and she's okay. Even though she's a scaredy-cat and, you know, we can't really pick her up and pet her and all that kind of stuff. We love all the animals, especially the cats and the dogs, Olive, and it would just break our heart if something were to happen. So, we're quite blessed and happy and proud that we were able to get this done. And of course with all of you viewers support as well. I wonder if I should let her walk around for a bit.
You okay, Bubs? You want to walk around or do you want to stay in bed? Where's her tail?
Okay. Okay. Okay.
Okay.
She's walking around, but she's scared.
Ah, she just hissed at me.
You're okay, Bubbles.
If she only knew how much we love her.
You're okay, Bubbles. See, you can tell she's she's wobbly, you know, and that's okay. That's normal. She needs rest. And we're going to be checking in with her regularly in the videos.
If anybody has any questions, just drop me a comment. I try my best to answer as many comments as I can in the videos.
And don't forget, she's in a strange place right now. So, between yesterday, right, she's having me chase her around to get her into the crate. Then you go to the vet. Then she had to get sedated in order to be examined. Then once the sedation kicks in, they diagnosed her with this pyometra problem. And then within a couple of hours, she's being put into surgery, emergency surgery. And it was some time before they actually called me saying that she's had a surgery and she's okay. As you saw earlier, I had gone back to the farm to finish up all the farm chores.
But, uh, it's a little bit of a relief that she's, you know, not 100% out of the woods, but she's like out of the woods, you know what I mean? She's She's past the point where she's really in critical condition.
Bubbles, are we ready to go lie down in bed for a while? What do you think? I got to show you where your bed is. You can't stay there, right? So, don't get mad at me. Okay.
She actually just walked and I kind of guided her like this and she was kind of running away from me.
So, you got a nice bed there, Bubbles.
Okay.
You got you got the nice bed.
Don't forget, folks, she's scared. She doesn't know what to do.
She's in a strange place.
It looks like she's using the litter box as a bed.
And she's kind of growling like not not hissing but growling like kind of like that. So that's probably just her being freaked out that she's in a strange place and maybe she doesn't feel good and a little wonky.
We got all our laundry machines here.
I'm just looking to make sure there's no tiny crevices that she can actually get into and hide. You know what I mean? cuz then we'd never get her out of there unless we moved it. But I don't see how she could jump up there yet.
Everything's pretty closed in here. I'm just going to leave you in here for a while. Okay.
Okay, Bubs. Let you get settled in. You got a cushion over there if you want to get in there, but I know you're a little groggy, so I'm going to leave you. Okay.
Bend this down and you can get in here if you want. This is a nice cushion.
Hey, pups. Anyways folks, thanks for watching the video. It was a little bit of a roller coaster episode, eh? Getting bubbles to the vet and being stressed out and being sad that you hear this news that she has a serious infection and it isn't fatal. Like if you don't fix it, she's going to die. and then to get emergency surgery and then to anticipate the coming out of surgery and kind of in the recovery room. And now, of course, we got her at home the next day. So, that's like a roller coaster of feelings, you know what I mean? I was exhausted yesterday. and we'll work on a little recovery for her and we'll set oursel up for a little routine of giving her her meds and stuff like that. That has to be done in her food. So, it's all good. So, yeah. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for everybody's support. If in fact there was anybody that gave us any gifts of money and I didn't thank you, I really apologize. I tried to keep track and kind of follow it through and I'll see if I can come up with some kind of a list after the fact, but I'm super busy and I want to get the other two cats spayed, too. So, that's happening next week. So, I have to kind of figure out my schedule and work out that schedule.
You know what I mean? So, lots to do with the cats. Oh, what's Bubbles doing?
Hopefully, she'll get in that pillow or there's a little bit of water over there for her. I haven't given her any food yet. They said to give her food later.
She's sniffing around her new digs for a while, figuring out, is this a nice place? Do I have to be scared?
Hopefully over the next few days as she settles in, her behavior will change a little bit. You know, she'll be a bit more relaxed. But, uh, until then, thanks for watching. Don't forget to drop me a comment and we'll see you on the next episode. Okay, you guys. Take care.
