Obsession Full Movie Review - Off The Nut (Day 82)Added:
The most messed up horror film has just dropped, Obsession, but in 90 seconds the manager of this Odeon is going to kick me out. So, I need to tell you everything about this movie very quickly. Is this one of the spookiest, weirdest, creepiest films I've seen in a incredibly long time? Yes. And I'm so pleased that for once I've come to the cinema when there's been a bunch of hype around the film and it's actually paid off. The lengths that they go to to explore the themes in this film are fantastic. So, the idea of the film is there is this object within the universe called One Wish Willow that grants whoever snaps the willow whatever wish.
And the idea of the film is they're exploring the lengths to which that goes to and just what One Wish means. The heaviest theme in this, I would say they explore, is cowardice. The main character, every choice he makes is out of complete cowardice from start to end, and his character is so intense to watch just how wormy he is. The fantastic lead actress, Indie I Never Ratty, I think, was kind of like discovering Mickey Madison after seeing Anora. She is the most fantastic actress. Cory Baker, I believe is how you pronounce his name, the director, editor, and script, I don't think he's ever going to be outworking in Hollywood. This is one of the most original stories I've seen in such a long time. And apparently, I don't know if this is true, but what I've been told is that he's going to make more films based around this idea.
I love the lengths they go to to film the character progression. I think it's just about slightly 15 minutes too long because the story doesn't progress a whole amount load after they've kind of set it up. But like I said, the arcs in the story, the way it's told, the lighting they use to show the darkness of the character, and when she's kind of in control and when she's not without giving things away too much, the use of sound to sort of tell you when things are going right and when things are going wrong. This really is a fantastic, masterful example of a great, great film that you should absolutely go and watch at the cinema. I believe it was made off of about a 70 $750,000 budget and it's set, or if it already has grossed over $100 million at the box office, and it is worth every single penny of that. I would give Obsession four stars. Those are my after nap thoughts. Thank you so much for watching, and I'll see you tomorrow for the next one.
