And at number one, Purussaurus brasiliensis, the undisputed king of the Miocene. At 41 ft long and over 8 tons, this giant caiman had an estimated bite force of 7 tons, directly rivaling the T-Rex. It used its robust skull to crush giant turtle shells and dismember rhino-sized mammals in the ancient Amazon.
