Fish filleting requires patience and practice; the technique involves cutting behind the pin, following the bone structure, and removing the red cage to avoid bones, with fresh tilapia often needing vinegar soaking to remove muddy taste.

Stop Filleting Fish Until You Watch This (Fail Edition)Added:
All right, people. We're here to um I'm going to show Rashi how to fillet fish.
We got two fillet knives and we're going to I'm going to try to show them how to fillet fish. They may need to saw out more. Is it one that's thought out more?
>> This one?
>> Yeah. Well, I don't know. You want me to start with that one?
>> Okay.
So, we got some new lines. Let's see how good they work.
and cut my hand off. All right. So, the first thing they always do is come behind this pin.
See that hard part? And they just start cutting right there somewhere behind that pin.
Right.
Cut all the way down to the bone.
Then I like to turn the fish this way because I don't want the knife to come towards me. But you cut it down like that. And you kind of come along that bone right there. And you just cut along that bone just like this all the way down to the tail.
Okay.
Kind of got you can lift it up like this and feel the bone and kind of go along it a little more.
See what I'm doing? I don't know if you can really see, but Just move that.
I just like this.
I don't like the red cake. So, you just kind of cut around that.
All right.
I'm going cut. I don't know which cut I made, but that's like >> Yeah. Let me see. You can take the skin off.
Um I'm like this.
It's been a long time since I filled the fish, but you don't have to be in a rush. Like people take your time.
Think about it.
Is that a bomb?
As you guys can see, flaying is not as easy as people some people make it seem.
Takes practice.
But we will see how this turns out.
Got most of it off.
Yeah.
This blade is all messed up for sure.
So, this is what I came up with.
Here's my piece, guys. Can you see it?
It's not too good, but guess what? It's going to fry up.
Is getting his piece filled.
Got it.
His is looking better than mine, guys.
For sure.
That look like a piece of tilapia that come out the store. The way he filled it looks almost perfect.
Let me bring the camera a little closer so you guys can see.
All right. Look at his piece of tilapia.
Show the camera, Rashy, cuz that looks pretty good.
>> For your first time, that looks pretty good. Yay.
Looks pretty good. Mhm.
Looks like you're going to be a pro at this. This first one, guys.
All right. Now, we got a bunch of f fish to fillet. So, we will be back soon.
Going to rinse that one off. I'm going to get some vinegar so these can soak.
And we do soak the tilapia in vinegar because when you get the fresh tilapia, it kind of taste has a muddy taste to it. So, we just get some vinegar and we're going to soak it in there.
And hopefully that taste that taste right on out.
So, we're going to fry a couple of these today and then we're going to put the uh other ones in the freezer.
You feel that bone down there that I was talking about?
Yeah. Got to cut around that red cage so we don't get those bones.
Well, there it is, guys. Looks like Rashid's a professional uh fish filer now.
>> I just wanted to give you the idea and then show you cuz I told you guys earlier when I show Rashid how to do something, he always does it 10 times better than me. So, he's already a professional.
And the more he do it, the more perfect he's going to get. And that's it. And that's all. It's going to be dead on that.
So stay.
>> Mhm.
>> You will Look at that, guys. He's just getting right to it.
Just becoming a professional right at filleting fish.
How you feel, Rashi?
>> Learning how to fillet a fish.
>> Long time fry.
>> Long time, huh? You just could You just never try.
>> Just never try.
See the man do can't do it.
>> Yeah.
Looks like we're going to be eating tilapia nuggets cuz some of the fish is falling apart which is fine.
>> Yeah, peeps. You know sometime coffee sometime tea, right?
>> Mhm.
>> And just learn to fillet. So not bad. A lot of people still can't get it like this. We get a big piece of meat like this.
>> Exactly.
You want this other side of this?
>> Yeah.
>> All right, peeps. We'll be back soon.
