Busters Road TripAdded:
Hey guys, good morning again. Again. I'm kind of dragging today. Uh I don't feel bad. Just uh kind of sore, I think.
Yeah, kind of stove up. You ever got stove up?
Heard that expression? I remember old dad sometimes say, "I feel stove up today, boy.
I know. I know, Dad. I want to check my little tomatoes I transplanted yesterday.
Worried about a couple of them. Uh cuz I had to split their split the roots. They was there's two plants, but it all tangled in the root mess, you know, and when I got them, they still in the same little pot together. And I just put them out like that. And uh after I split them yesterday, they kind of wilted. But I just want to check this morning and see what they're up to. Okay, Ben and I are going to take that. We're going to bust out that hay.
Boy, it's a lot of little peppers in here.
Uh, I don't know about this plant. It don't show nothing.
I don't know what what did I overwinter.
I don't know. This is a pepper plant. I know. I think it's habanero.
See a little pepper here. Here's some more of those little Tabascos.
And this is I think habanero.
I don't know what that thing back here is. That might just be a bush. I may be propagating a bush. And here's a little Tabasco. Was kind of slow to get going here, but it's got a little leaves on it. These are my uh jalapenos here. And they got some little jalapenos coming on them. All right, the little tomatoes did stand back up. Praise God. These two on this end. Yeah, they stood back up.
Awesome.
And all the others seem to be okay.
That's awesome.
These are uh cherry tomatoes. And we'll eventually uh I will get me some uh those cages.
I go to Walmart somewhere and get me some cages.
and put on these buckets and they will be set down and the cages will be tied to the fence and I'm going to put down a couple of boards, treated boards for them to set on and uh so down in the dirt.
Yeah. And they'll be going on the ground and tied once I get the cages and tied to the fence. Supposedly these things get up big and kind of bush out and try to lay over and everything else. So that's what we'll do.
>> Here they come for breakfast.
They walking way around little tiki dog.
>> Yeah, this is pitiful. This is pitiful.
Look out. They jogging. They jogging for their breakfast. That's good exercise, guys. Come on. Little jogging. I see all three of the whites are here this morning. You know, one of them's been sitting on a nest down there. together.
I'm here. I hear you.
Yeah, Papa's here.
Okay.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Shut them up to feed them. You got to feed them to shut them up.
All right. Yeah. You happy now? You happy? The big happy birds.
>> Oh yeah, they happy papa.
>> They wasn't complaining, Papa. They're not complaining.
I run a little bit late. They already been up here. I think they said earlier, but I had to go pick up Ben at the car getting his car worked on to go clean and pick him up. So I was a little bit late. Plus had to take little wood dog and birdie to the groomers.
And so these guys having to wait and it's upset them. Upset them a bunch.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Now I go let my little goosees out.
These guys are leaving.
Oh yeah, I fed Breeze chickens. I fed them. They're out with my chickens.
That's fine.
They all share good. They all do good together. Seems like the roosters do.
They bow up a little bit, but nobody's getting a bad fight. I think these little ones know better. I think they know better.
And Piggly Naturally, she's going to get her share.
I'm uh concerned, guys.
A Bambi is not with the herd this morning.
Not with the herd this morning.
I brought them feed cubes and some corn.
Uh but he's not here now. There's nobody hunts on this property. So he's safe on this property.
But if he left the property for whatever reason, then you know, you can't guarantee nothing. He may have left with some other deer. Maybe some other deer come across he left with him and he may come back.
Deer cross here all the time.
And he may have some may have crossed and he went with him, but he's not here this morning. We'll be watching.
We'll be watching.
But there's no hunting here, so he's safe here as far as people go. Ivan's not going to let a coyote or nothing chase him down or a dog cuz Ivan if he stays with the herd. Ivan takes care of this herd.
But uh I'm guessing probably the lure of other deer may have took him away and he may come back.
I think he likes hanging out with the herd and in the peaceful uh tranquility. Yeah, I guess you call it that out in the wild with all those wild deer. It ain't going to be as peaceful. They going to be steadily on the move.
Hopefully he comes back. I I start to start to really get a hang of seeing him out here. I love it. We do what we can for our animals and and that's all we can do. Uh it wasn't a pet, so to speak.
Uh so we had nothing to do with it coming here and we had nothing to do with it leaving. That's just, you know, it's little free spirit. He could go where he wants. But he sure seemed like he liked hanging out with the cows, especially Duchess. All right. But life goes on.
We'll just be watching for him.
Hopefully it comes back. But I'm going to show you something here real quick.
And uh and what you have to do if you don't want these things get out of hand.
Hang on. That right there is one of them old thistles we call them. I have no idea what the real name for them, but I've seen them take over pastures cuz every one of these little hairs.
Look at here. They're already falling.
See them little hairs right there? Those are seeds. Everywhere one of those falls next year, there'll be some of these come up and they got thorns on them and cows will not eat around them.
And so I'm going to have to cut this one up. I'm going to dig it up. Brought me a hole. And I'm going to pick up all these little clumps that I see and they're going to go to the dumpster. Okay. So I'll show you that. That's all you can get rid of. You can't just chop it down cuz these things will continue to go to seed and blow with the wind. If this plant here was left unattended this year, there would be 30 or 40 of them around here next year, all scattered around here. And some would be way out wherever the wind blows them. And those 30 or 40 would turn into three or 4 hundred the following year.
So when you find them, you got to dig them up and put them in a bag and burn them or put them in the dumpster. Get rid of them.
All right. So I'm going to get my hole.
Yeah, I got a hole. I like to carry holes around with me.
Yeah, Ronnie, go ahead.
Uh anyway, and I'll dig it up and I'll put it in this bucket.
Okay, you dig it up by the root.
You see this here? It's got these thorns all over it. They do stick.
I'm going to take my pliers.
See, this is one pod.
Here's two more coming out. And they'll come up all up and down it. This thing will produce thousands and thousands of seeds if left unattended. Okay, I got that one. I see another one right over there. It hadn't got a big flower on it yet. Normally if when right before they start throwing those seeds and usually around here they they're white or they're purple and you can spot them out in the pasture unless they're in a thicket somewhere like this. You just got to drive up on them. And that's why I drive the pastures every day looking for stuff like this or anything that's kind of unusual or out of place or not not supposed to be. So I'll get that one.
And there's another one. I'll show it to you.
That's it right there.
It hasn't gone to seed yet. That's good.
All right. You got to dig them up. Even though this this one here has not gone to seed, if you dig it up and leave it laying here on the ground, it will go to seed.
They'll just continue to develop until find all them little things fly out.
Wherever they land, you'll get another one of these.
Those thorns will stick to you. They'll stick a cow. A cow will not Got some new little flowers coming out right here on each one of these here. A cow would not eat around this. This one's going to be purple.
And uh so there's three right here in this shaded area. And we'll drive around looking for more. But uh the first year I realized what kind of problem I was looking at. Oh gosh. I was digging them up.
Bag after bag, feed sack after feed sack full and mashing them down. I'd have a good full 50 lb bag of these things when I'd go home and throw them in the dumpster. The first year I think I had seven bags, like 350 pounds of this stuff, and the next year about half that. And every year it's got less. Now I'm down to maybe maybe this will be the only three.
I don't know. But any of these little things get loose, you're going to have these next year. If you don't get them before they go to seed, you'll have more the next year. So you u my old friend Jack, old cowboy, showed me a a pastor. There used to be a dairy.
It used to big hay field that was full of these things. He said they had sold out and they left that pasture go and these things got started and uh a guy had leased it and his cows he couldn't even make his cows go into it. Push them inside the gate. They just stand there. They would not graze around these things. There's too many. They were so thick.
So anyway, we got, you know, the problem you can have is you can get your pasture completely clean, but someone next door has got them on their pasture.
Well, they're going to blow in the wind and seed your pasture every year. So, it'll be a never ending battle.
Uh if you got a neighbor's got them, encourage your neighbor, dig them up, burn them, put them in a dumpster or or he or you or you got m to go help you go help your neighbor. Uh when I first realized my problem, I told my brother about it and he had a bunch of them and he uh he and his wife got out, him and Joanne, they started digging them up.
Uh, and it helped out. It helped me too cuz wind comes out of the southeast, it blow across my place. Come out of the north, northwest, it blow back across his place.
This area here always had a one or two.
That's what I'm looking for right now.
Or my dad called it bedding them down. But, uh, come along, put straw or hay or something hole up on up on your plants.
It does two things. It stops slows the grass growing around them. Also preserves moisture, keep them from drying out so much. And uh we'll bed them in real good.
And uh Ben's doing the cucumbers. And I'm working this side over here. It'll look good.
Yeah, looks good, Ben.
All right, me, Buster, and Ben are on our way.
Buster's kind of a backseat driver to get Wood Dog and Birdie.
So, lady called, they're ready to go.
What do you think, Buster? You get a dropped off. Get a shave.
Buster need a shave.
Heard what that is, has you?
Yeah. When you come to visit Papa and Gingi, that's all you got to do is ring that bell.
>> Oh, wait. You know, she got to get a little closer. Okay, let's There you go.
>> Oh, I can just chew on this rope, too. I don't think that's a good idea.
>> Oh, Lord. Yeah, she done learn She done learned. You can't chew the rope up.
Got to get it up higher.
>> Get it up higher.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. There she Oh, yeah. Yay!
>> You did good, baby. You did good.
>> On our hands and knees.
>> All right.
>> Uhoh. Come on. You can do it.
>> You can do it, baby girl.
>> You can do in the army crawl.
from idiot.
>> He was setting us up to look like idiots.
>> That is not cool.
>> You got your little Grinch crackers and your milk upside down, kid.
>> Sometimes you have to lie to tell the truth.
>> Well, in my experience, most people don't like being lied.
>> Throw that cracker down. Turn our milk up right.
>> I don't know.
>> All right. Would you please have Lieutenant look into those two addresses?
>> Throw that cracker down. Turn a little bottle up right.
>> And Mr. panel get some background information on anyone else who might have had a pearson pulled on them. I would greatly appreciate >> you sweetie.
>> These gas pumps aren't just >> these people. Look how stretch it out.
Look how stretch are not going to lay up and stretch and lay out on my patio.
Look at that stretching little leg got behind that a little brown one too.
That's Huie and Dewey stretched out. Who knows what Louis doing in the middle.
Oh, they going to get off. They going to get off my patio and go somewhere else.
Oh, praise God. Look out there. I was so worried this morning.
See who's laying down beside Duchess?
Bambi.
He was gone all morning. I looked all over this morning. All over back there in the back. I could not find him there.
So he done followed some deer off and he may have but he's come back. He's hooked back up with Duchess.
I'm so happy.
Yeah. So happy.
I guess we have to get used to that now and then he may disappear for, you know, a day or so. I hope I hope he stays. But he's laying over Duchess. His little ears. I see the floppy his little ears.
Okay, let me walk around here and show you what we did. We what my dad called bed in.
We took leaves or straw, whatever we had available and put up around the plants.
It does two things. It shades, keeps the ground from getting hot. Also helps preserve your moisture.
Uh, so the hot sun don't just dry it right back out.
So, I'll show you from the end view. I got a little bit of hay left. Ben and I did this earlier. Y'all saw it. And uh I'll use some more on that outside edge over there. And some more uh in spots we may need.
See how it looks. That squash.
Here's the okra.
And here's the cucumbers that the pickle king here will need.
Pickle king. I love that sound.
And here.
And like I say, I'll probably put some more a little bit thicker on this side here.
We got plenty.
All right.
And uh Woody Woody was under the shade.
Son's moved over. Woody had moved over.
Got the little umbrella that Dorothy sent to keep to keep me cool when I'm out here. And my chair.
And uh yeah, Wood Dog, we can move our chair wherever the shade's at. Baby.
Wood went to Woody. Wood Dog. Hey, Woody.
You got your haircut all pretty today?
Look at Look at Papa. Oh yeah. Him and a little birdie went to the groomers today.
All right, this is going to be where I spend a lot of my time for the next few months. And with that umbrella, I can probably sit out here when it's raining. If it's not raining too hard or blowing rain, I'm pretty happy with what I'm looking at.
Little okra, it's a slow thing. It comes on slow. Once it gets on up there about knee high, it'll start producing the loc.
And it just from that point on, you got to cut it almost every day.
It'll just keep on getting taller and taller and taller.
That's a little bit of that white clover.
Couple little patches of that. But look over here. Popped out today.
Everybody says this is called buttercups. Okay. I don't know what these are. They're beautiful, ain't they?
Ain't they pretty?
Yeah, they're pretty.
Yep. This back said it wasn't out here yesterday either. Papa looked all over for it.
It wasn't here this morning, but it worried It it it may have put off some other deer. Then it come back.
They may have kept going. He said, "Uh-uh. Are we going too far from Pope?
I'm going back.
I have it.
I have it.
I bet.
I got something.
I got something, baby.
something you like.
You hurry. You ain't got to share.
All right, I leaving. I'm out of here.
Oh, dad just head me off. No, wait, Papa. Wait. I changed my mind. I got something, buddy.
Okay, hang on.
Here we go. Hang on. I get them for you here.
Damn.
Oh, you better hurry. Here come the pig cow. Here she comes.
Eat fast.
Eat fast. Have it quick.
Okay, I love you. I love you, buddy.
Put you right there.
Put you right there.
Stoked. Too far. My shotgun.
Too far. My shotgun.
I don't have a raft there.
Little baby might be happy he's up there close to Ivan.
This guy ain't come up on that field with Ivy.
He's right here at Camp Patty.
He gone. That dude gone.
They can disappear that quick. He's out of range for my shotgun.
Yeah, he done took off.
All right, I drove around. He He made his escape right across here into these woods over here.
I never could get close enough to get a kind of heated his little butt up, give a little encouragement to go on or to stay here forever.
I couldn't get close enough.
We're going to sit here for a while. He may come back out if I get real quiet.
Yep. He's at the back of the field right next to Camp Heidi. I was up on the front of the field where the deer and all of them are. So, uh, little deer's probably he's probably he been he may have been up there on purpose up there at the front. Yeah. Up there with Ivan between him and this back pasture.
Once Ivan got them cookies, he's ready to go again.
Guys, I'm going to close this video out and get out to you. Hope you enjoy it.
Uh, we uh just going to sit here and I'm going put my video together.
It's quite long, so I may cut a little bit of it out and leave it for another another day of bits and pieces.
Uh, I try to keep my videos close to 20 between 20 and 30 minutes, no longer than that.
Sometimes I get lon but chairs turned upside down. You know who did that? When he come back from visiting. Uh he said I guess I first thing I got to do is go turn some chairs over for papa.
I think we're going to take these chairs up and put them in storage uh by the barn and just bring them back when we need them. Don't need all of them sitting out down there. We don't need one or two at a time down here.
cousin and I come down or me and some of the family members and we have three here all the time so that's probably plenty.
All right, I'm going to put this thing together, get out to you guys. I hope y'all enjoy it. Hit the like button, share, subscribe. Uh invite your friends over to join in with us and I'll see y'all I'll see you tomorrow morning at uh you'll see this at 5:00 I think and my live at 8. Love you guys. Y'all take care.
