Meghan Markle’s 'tone-deaf' fashion choice ignites backlash at women’s shelter

[00:00:00]Let's talk about Harry and Megan. What more fun sport is there than Harry and Megan bashing? And then they make it almost too easy. We're now at the halfway mark through their 4day royal trip that isn't a royal trip. And uh I've got some sad news to tell you at home. Apparently Megan's much publicized women's retreat. It's called Your Best Life uh Girls Weekend. Her best life girls weekend. um that was originally organized by Jackie O who's had a few issues of her own. Well, it's failed to sell out, guys. I know. It's very sad.

[00:00:37]Organizers have had to go online and um continue to publicize this and offer some lastm minute uh tickets for the Friday event. Obviously, only a couple of days out. And this is we're talking about an event that is uh close to $2700.

[00:00:58]Uh and if you want to get a VIP ticket to get a group photo with Megan at a table, that's going to set you back more than $3,000.

[00:01:08]So, it's not cheap. But I just wonder what living your best life looks like when you're the Duchess of Sussex, as she continues to insist to be called.

[00:01:20]Does it look like uh ratting out your whole family and your husband's family?

[00:01:27]Does it look like getting dumped from Netflix? Does it look like countless former staff now coming out and making allegations of bullying? Because if that's living my best life, then count me out. I don't want any part of this retreat. Well, if you've paid up your um $2,600 for the the lower tier, uh living your best life looks like sharing a hotel room with another person because it's a twin share fair. So, you have you're you're paying to share a hotel with with a hotel room with another person. Now, I don't know whether you get two beds or you got a top and tail or what the go is, but that is allegedly what your best life looks like if you're going to go to this.

[00:02:07]>> Well, it's the sisterhood, Caleb. It's about creating community. I look, I I get what both of you are saying, but to be honest, this whole, you know, people glorying in Megan's failure. If if this thing was sold out, uh, we'd be sitting here saying, "What fools buying tickets?" Now, it's not sold out, so we sit here saying, "Haha, it didn't sell out." Does that not say a bit more about us than it does about Megan? That we're glorying in the failure of someone that we will never meet. She's had some family issues. She's a pain in the butt.

She is the person who in 2018 reportedly said according to a book uh an unauthorized book about her uh her her the couple which included her visit to Australia the first time round that she had had quipped to someone, I can't believe I'm not being paid for this. Now she's being paid and people don't really want to show up. The other thing that has really annoyed me today about Megan Markle is that she visited a women's homeless shelter, which in itself is commendable, but she used it as an excuse to fogg the designer clothes she was wearing. She's an investor in a new AI powered fashion platform that helps people find out what their favorite celebrities are wearing. And of course, as soon as she appeared in what was a $1,250 dress and $1,200 Christian Dior shoes, it went up on this platform so people could buy the same outfit as Megan. Now, first of all, completely tonedeaf to wear a designer outfit that collectively was worth tens of thousands of dollars when you take a watch and the jewelry into account to a women's homeless shelter. Not the right place. Literally read the room. Megan, >> do what Princess Kate would wear. Wear um an outfit you've worn before, probably from the high street, uh which means an inexpensive brand. Wear a pair of trainers. Just look at least try look like you're not trying to show off like it was a beautiful outfit. And the dress was an Australian designer, which is which is nice. But I do find it a little bit sick. Not just that she wore such inappropriate clothes, but that she was profiting off it through this site. Did the women know that she was being she was using this whole visit as a way of promoting her?

[00:04:41]>> Well, I I think it's unfair to say she was using the visit to the homeless shelter to promote her.

[00:04:46]>> Well, she was really in the sense that she would be using every public appearance to promote her fashion label.

[00:04:52]So it's not like she >> it's a charity visit maybe like to the children's hospital or to a homeless shelter some things >> how does it work logistically right so so let's she would have had functions either side of the homeless shelter >> so are you saying she has to dress nice for one engagement then she has to quickly dress down so she doesn't you know >> isn't that a bit condescending to those at the homeless shelter no one complained about what she was wearing they were thrilled that she visited >> how do you know have you spoken to all the people at the women's shelter I was actually down. No, cuz I read the reports and they said that they complimented her on how beautiful she >> was saying. No one's going to say and she did look beautiful. I'm not saying she didn't. And she dresses beautifully.

I think it was inappropriate not just to wear a high-end fashion outfit to a homeless women's shelter, but then to profit off it on a new site that you're fgging your clothes on. I just think that is really uh just ill advised just poor judgment and poor taste tacky which is Megan to a >> I'll tell you James the reason people dislike uh Megan and they're quite happy to watch her fail at things is the same reason that people dislike Yokoono because she broke up the Beatles and Megan has broken up the royal family and uh and people love the royal family and feel great connection to it and they've seen someone sworn in uh marry into an institution that plenty of other people have married into knowing full well what they're getting into and have served the the public of the Commonwealth, having taken that role. You marry into the royal family. You're not just marrying someone for love. You're marrying into a job that you will have to perform for the rest of your life. And everyone else has seemed to understand that except for Megan. That's why people take delight in watching her fail at her then, you know, trying to move on from all of
