OffGrid Cabin gets a Wrap Around Deck⬆️追加:
All right, and we're back.
Welcome back. It's another episode and uh we got Brody back. Y'all saw in the last episode he made it back.
Today we're going to continue working on this denom balcony. But we're almost finished with it. I'm telling you, in this episode, we're going to have the knee braces up and get it finished.
It's raining out here, though, so we're going to kind of go slow a little bit.
I don't really have a perfect game plan yet on how I want to do this or what I'm doing next, but we'll figure it out. Okay, so I've been thinking about it all freaking night, bro. Um, my plan is, especially with this corner right here, it's going to be a little weird, but we're going to take these 2x8s over here. And for starters, for starters, where the knee brace comes out, the the 2x8 is going to go from here all the way across and then the knee brace is going to connect to it.
>> Okay.
>> But there's going to be two layers technically. Um the first layer of 2x8 is going to be the outside edge. It's going to basically go from here.
>> Yeah. It's going to go all the way down.
And then right here, this one is going to it's going to do the same thing. It's going to go from here to there. But then I'm going to put a second one kind of like from here to there. Kind of like two of them. And then and then another plate. And then it's going to connect to here. And that's going to be one layer.
>> And then I'm going to take another 2x8 and go straight across all the way over.
And basically that's so >> you have your outside plate and then here on the corner you have the plate come out this way and this way.
>> Yes. And when the and and and those going across will be underneath it. So they'll be held up by the second layer technically. I don't know if you can see what I'm talking about.
>> So for for each one of these pillars, you're going to shoot a plate out horizontally.
>> Yes.
>> And that's where the it'll be mounted to >> where the D brace will mount to.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that's how it's going to actually hold up this corner even more. It's going to is cuz there's going to be a plate that goes from here to here >> and um it'll be underneath that plate that goes across holding it up on both sides. That's what I think. I hope it works. I believe it. I mean, that's the only thing I can think of.
So, yeah, that's what we're going to do.
We're going to start working with these 2 by8s. It's raining. I got to put something on my head. Um, but yeah, that's what we're doing in this episode. So, let's just get started. Let's just uh see what we can figure out.
Yeah, it's uh it's been raining off and on for like the last couple days, and we're still been trying to get some work done, but you know how it goes. I really need to go get some cement for these freaking post holes. I just need to fill them back up. I mean, they're not going anywhere. They have cement in them already.
But yeah.
Yeah.
>> Damn, >> bro. It's really coming down, bro.
>> Oh, it's all right. We're underneath here for the most part. Yeah, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> Rainy day, man.
It's actually like coming down.
That gum, bro.
It's getting It's getting heavier.
>> Yeah. Is there a Honda in the garage?
>> Huh?
>> Is there a Honda in the garage?
>> Not yet, but I can It drives. I can just drive it in there.
>> Yeah.
I guess we're going to have to wait out the rain.
Big gum.
All right. So, it seems as the rain is starting to slow down. So, we're going to try to get as much work as we can done. So, let's do it.
>> You got screws?
>> Yeah.
That was crazy.
You got to drop it.
Come on, baby.
This place even skinnier.
You only have two boards there.
You should be able to lined up with this outside face.
Take it down and cut it.
Where is right?
Cool.
>> Go with it.
>> There you go. You got screws?
>> Yeah.
>> Your windshield.
Cool.
Now we need one more. I think I think you have the fence on here. Oh. Ow.
Dude, you got Woo! Oh, that's looking so good.
That is mighty pretty, man.
I like it. This one could have been a little bit better over here, but that was my fault. Or was it your fault?
>> Hell no.
Hey.
Looks a little stupid, but it'll be strong.
And I can uh I can do the aesthetic parts of it later.
>> Puffed up funny.
>> It's a little crooked.
Okay.
>> Straight it out or >> No, it's good.
All right, y'all.
We have gotten quite a bit done. We got these 8 by8 plates up. Uh Brody's been helping me out quite a bit.
>> Yes, sir.
>> Yes, sir. And yeah, look how strong this deck or this walkway looks now. This one's a little crooked, so just don't pay attention too much to it.
all the way down. This facial board is thick, boy. She's thick. And um it's doubled up. So when we put the 6x6, y'all see it's going to be really freaking strong. And even this corner down here. We uh went overkill with this. Look at this corner.
This is overkill. Like that's not going anywhere. Right now it's really strong.
And I haven't even put the the stability 6x sixes underneath it. So, yeah, I like it. Check that out.
It's pretty freaking cool, huh?
All the way around, all the way down, even on this side. It looks a little weird, but I can go back later and cover it up with decking and make it look better or whatever. Um, looks better on this side. Check that out. Boom.
But yeah, uh, yeah, it's pretty strong. Now we're going to move on to the 6x sixes, but we got to cut them first. And like I like we was saying, it's going to go one right here, right here, and then two down there. So, we got four notches to make or knee braces.
We got four knee braces to make and then we'll be done for today. So, uh, let's get to it. Oh, I realized I got two of them already cut right here. Let's start with those. Or >> use them as a template, too.
>> Yeah. Well, yeah. Yeah, we can. I I really don't need a template cuz I already know how to cut them off now.
But >> yeah, let's uh >> see how it fits.
>> Yeah, let's go see how one of these fits.
>> It's definitely not going to fit, but uh we're going to cut we got to cut like an inch and a half off each one of these.
This is >> See that?
>> Yeah.
>> Let's go cut a half inch off and see what it does.
>> Start with a half inch.
I'm doing a 4 in crazy.
>> Perfect.
I think that looks good enough. Push it down some.
>> I think I think we need to take just a little bit more off of it.
>> Okay, we cut it again. Let's see if it works this time. Getting there.
>> That's it.
>> Yeah, >> that fits. Let's go ahead and Yeah, like you said, let's go ahead and make the templates out of these.
>> All right.
All right. Now, all right, we got it cut. Let's go ahead and put this first one up. Oh, the sun's starting to come out.
>> Yeah, >> it's going to you got it's going to press it away. So, >> yeah.
>> Now, >> I want to test to see how strong that corner jump up there. I'm Fent.
I lost my shoe, >> bro. It don't move at all.
You jump up there.
>> I'm like 200 lb.
>> Shit's not moving.
>> All right.
That looks so freaking cool, dude. Let's uh let's go ahead and cut the rest of these. We got three more to cut. Let's get them all cut.
>> The template down now. Go fast.
>> Yes, sir. Let's get it.
>> See, we already marked for the nextwhere.
Starting to rain again, too.
Boy, oh boy, does that look freaking good.
All right, that's it.
Finally, we're done with this balcony. I can take this ugly freaking 2x12 down, y'all. Let's uh let's get rid of it.
Let's get rid of it.
Damn. I don't know if I'm going be able to get to it. You might have to just break it.
>> She's out.
>> Oh word.
>> Yep.
>> Boom. Y'all, the balcony is done.
Yeah, perfect timing.
It's starting to pour again. Look at this.
We got the balcony done. Obviously, we got to go over it with deck later on, but look at this.
Check that out.
all the way down.
I'mma let it stop raining and then I'll show y'all.
Oh, turn off this electricity.
We still got 72% battery life.
Shut this door right here.
It's raining. It's coming down outside, y'all.
Woo.
I'm so happy to be done with this portion of the deck. The balcony a couple days ago or like a week ago that was so hideous and you couldn't walk around. Now it's a complete wraparound deck. I'm going to go out here in the rain and show y'all.
Just check this out, y'all.
Ah, the rain. I'm sorry.
All right, y'all.
Just check this out.
This balcony is freaking cool, dude. I gotta hold my phone, my hand over the phone so it don't get wet. But look at this, y'all.
That's not going anywhere. It's really strong.
Very strong.
And it's not even done yet, technically.
Check it out.
As y'all see, we're working every day.
We're working in the rain. We're not stopping.
We're gonna get this balcony finished all the way around. Um I'm not sure what we're doing in the next video, but I know I got to work on some vehicles over the weekend. But yeah, this has been another great episode. A lot of work is getting done since Brody back >> himself. Oh, shoot.
Camera's all up.
>> Brody's back. So, we've been getting a lot of freaking work done. It's only been two days. He's only been back less than a week. two days of working and um yeah, a lot of work's getting done. I love it. I love it a lot.
Y'all let me know in the comments what y'all think about this. And uh yeah, don't forget to leave a like. Hope you enjoyed this episode. And I will see y'all in the next one. Peace.
