A pond filtration system integrates multiple components including bottom drains, skimmers, returns, and a biochamber to maintain water quality. The system uses drums to filter water from skimmers, drains, and returns, with one drum feeding the biochamber for biological filtration and another feeding backy showers. A sump chamber with a submersible pump manages flood water from roof gutters and gullies, ensuring proper water circulation and quality throughout the pond ecosystem.

Quick Update with the pond build and what’s to come nextAdded:
Hello guys, welcome back to another video of Just for Coy.
I hope you are all doing well, all doing fine, all staying out of trouble.
Um, well, firstly, I don't even know where to start. Um, it's been a very long time since I've come on here and made any videos. It's been about possibly over 3 years. I've recently put out a few short videos. Um, got a couple of responses out of that. Some comments, good comments. Pretty much all good comments to be honest with you. Um, I just collect all the good ones. Um, now I'm just messing about. Um, right. Where do we start? Well, firstly, I can start off by saying do apologize for keeping you guys waiting for so long for an update, but I'm back on it. So, I'll spin you guys around and we'll take it from there.
Okay, as you can see, um the pond, well, pond is actually pretty much all done. I'll just explain um what I've been up to from the last video. Um what I did was basically place the bottom drains in and have the concrete base poured out. And other than that, there was been no other updates.
So, this is it. As you can see, it's all been block worked, fiberglass, water's in the pond, and even the filter pit is there. And I've been messing around for a few days just getting certain things into place. I'll explain all that as well. So, some of you guys asked um if I made any videos of um building this pond basically, and I did stop when it came to doing any block work. The weather was bad. I was literally doing it all by myself and I don't even remember how long it all took me to do. Um, all the concrete blocks for the pond was done all by myself.
Um, when it came to the fiberglassing, uh, I got a team in here and they fiberglassed it for me.
Um, the bottom of the pond, it's been screed in, um, from, uh, 100 ms down towards to the bottom drains. So, if I remember correctly, I think there was 14 or 15 courses of blocks going around and it's been basically 100 ms being gone from um one end all the way down into the bottom drains. Um from the edging, it's literally 1.4 um m deep. So, I would imagine it's a little bit deeper around as you're getting working towards to the bottom drains, but I basically I couldn't do that. So, I've just literally stuck a tape measure down from the edges here and it's showing 1.4. So, it's around 4T deep. Um, what else? So, we've got two skimmers basically placed over there. Sorry, I just lost the focus. We've got two skimmers placed over there. The whole the pond's got um seven returns. There's three going down there. And I've got three going down over there.
And the last one is a bottom return, which you can see where my finger is.
And that's that.
This one here is possibly going to be running the um airsource heat pump or however I decide to heat the pond. So that will be coming from there. And basically there's three there and three there. So enough mumbo jumbo about that.
All right, coming to the filter pit. As you can see, it's all pretty much done as well. Um the biochamber's not done yet, and I'll explain that why. Um electrics are in. I got six uh double sockets there. I just literally put in the um blue lab uh today. Just messing about prepping things. And well, you can't really see, but when I get down there, I'll show you. I've basically got um water running in from there. I placed a tap there. Um with the filter pit, I didn't do none of the work myself. Um basically when it came to the ground, uh I got a builders to come in and have the base all done for me. And while they're at it, ask them to basically do all the blocks as well. And also the biochamber, which took them 5 days. So, God knows how long that would have took me. Um, it's a bit awkward to get in there at the minute, but if you guys just bear with me and I'll walk around so I can actually get into the filter pit.
Dy dy dah.
Yep. Oh, basically I'm just walked all the way around here. Just walking on here. Put a little step here and just getting in there. Um, this is all going to be decked, but anyway, well far away from that. So this is the uh biochamber.
Still needs to be um fiberglass. Just the edgings have been done in the whole chamber.
Need to basically drill a 4 in um in for the uh biochamber here. And I haven't decided yet if we're going to have two or one 4 in uh coming out to return back to the pond. Um the reason why the biochamber we haven't finished it, we want to get the drums into place and basically have a perfect cut into where one of the drums are going to be feeding into the biochamber.
Um right, kind of lost myself there. I'm a little bit fresh at the moment cuz I haven't done any videos or even been doing much. So anyway, just bear with me. So, one of the drums will be um Oh, I did also forget to mention, do apologize. Um I've got two Tommy drains as well, which are basically I'm not sure if you can see, but they're somewhere down there and they're placed from the fifth course. So, they're on the sixth course um in the breeze blocks. So, that's them. So getting one drum here and another drum here which are going to be proy drums and they're going to be 5540s.
Each drum will be taking care of each skimmer, each Tommy drain and also the bottom drain. One of the drums will be feeding into the biochamber.
And as you can see, the free returns that I mentioned earlier, which are right over, sorry, over here, and those three over there are the further ones down there. They're going to basically returning uh back into the pond. The second drum will be feeding the backyers. Um, if you guys remember from my previous pond, I used to have two backy showers, which is somewhere behind those Acera trees. Um, if you don't know, I've got two backy showers, matara stainless steel ones. They're going to be getting placed over there. So, also coming back to here, I've got a sump chamber down here.
And we've got a Let me see if I can do this with one hand. Just bear with me.
No, I don't believe I can.
Definitely going to break my fingers.
There we go. There we have it.
Right.
Uh, this sump chamber, if I remember correctly, which it is in my last video, I believe it's 1 m in height. So, it's been buried down there. And there's a ai mud pump. Um, sub pump. Yeah, mud pump down there. We got one pipe work there which is basically to the guttering which is coming off the summer house roof and that's going into the sump chamber. And then I've got another pipe work coming into the sump chamber and that is for these gullies here. And this floor is a little bit sloped down. So any floods, any water, whatever can literally just find its way into the gullies, enter up into the sump chamber and let the pump basically pump out all the water. Is pumping out all the water coming out from there all the way down to there somewhere. See if I can get focus.
And it's feeding into the drains. So that is that.
Yep, that's all closed up. So, that's pretty much um the filter pit at the moment. So, next mission is basically getting the drums in. Uh the drums should be arriving possibly Tuesday.
Tomorrow's bank holiday, Monday, so I can't see them arriving, but should be hopefully getting them in Tuesday. Uh they're not brand new. They're secondhand and I got them at a really, really good price. So, they should hopefully do the job. Right.
And I think that is pretty much it. Just wanted to do a quick little update and just keep you guys updated as much as myself and just see where we're at exactly at.
All this is going to be all decked decked, but that's all garden work. So, um I'm nowhere near that at the moment.
Next mission, like I said, we're going to get the drums in. At the end of this video, I'll put in a little um photo of how the garden should end up.
Made um couple of plans um on AI and I really liked one of them. So, we will be going ahead and going with that kind of design. So, like I said, mumbo jumbo. At the end, I'll put in a um photo of how the whole garden with the pond should pretty much end.
Thank you for watching. Um do remember to like. If you don't like, don't like.
If you want to give us a thumbs up, give it. If you don't, don't give it. If you want to subscribe, if you don't, don't subscribe. Um you still watch the video.
So anyway, enough mumbo jumbo. All take care and see you guys soon.
